I needed to be able to attach my MR-24ex to other lenses besides the macro lens lineup for portrait lighting. This threads onto any 58mm lens and is perfect for adding catchlights and other lighting effects to shots taken with the 85mm f/1.8 (for example). Only downside is that lens caps don't snap as tightly as they do without the Adapter screwed onto the lens.
