Extremely Pleased...so far.

I was looking for a cheaper alternative to Canon's WiFi transmitter for my Canon 1Dx Mark II. I originally was waiting for the release of the CamRanger 2, but noticed the CamFi Pro Plus (and Pro model) already had the specs promised for new CamRanger 2. I am heading to Japan in a few weeks and planned to do some bracketed shots to be processed when I return home. I am also interested in the focus stacking aspect although I haven't tried it yet. Downloaded the CamFi app for both my iPad Pro and iPhone Xs Max. It was a pretty straight forward process for me (still haven't looked at the users manual). I have it set up to send raw file to my iPad although not required since you can access the images on the iPad card from your iPad. And unlike the Apple photo adapter, you can zoom in on individual images on the card from the iPad. The transfer to my iPad was 3-4 seconds... full-size raw file (about 25MB). Setting exposure parameters was easy and the touch focusing is pretty accurate for the test shots I've done. I tested the bracketing and its exactly what I needed. You can do 9 shots and specify the interval between stops. You can bracket using shutter speed, aperture, or ISO (it's not fake). In order to do tethering, I had to download an app for my Mac. Looks like it fakes your computer into believing you're connected via USB (no need to use EOS Utility). Did some shots with Lightroom and the transfer was around 5 seconds or so. Haven't tested it with Capture One Pro yet, however, I don't plan on doing a lot of tethered shots. Viewing the results on my iPad was my primary requirement. I'll be doing more testings before my departure, especially outdoors. I want to test the connection outside where there could be RFI issues. But for now, I'm pretty much satisfied. Hopefully, I can order an additional battery to have shipped to Hawaii. Something that has been extremely problematic in the past!
