This lenses is absolutely amazing. I'm also able to get the wonderful back ground blur because I wear my subjects are in the wildlife and how far back the background is. One thing to keep in mind is that it's heavy. So go get a gym membership. Also, the collar does not remove so it will take a while for you to get used to where you wanna rotate it in order to hold it. I've tried rotate it all the way to the right side because I'm right handed so my left hand could help study the lens and I didn't really care for it there I didn't care for it and it's normal position, which is downwards since I did not put it on the tripod the best location I found so far is rotating it so the foot is directly on top All in all, it takes amazing pictures

I love the RF200-800. This was my first purchase from Adorama. The customer service was exceptional as I traded in my old canon lense. I would definitely buy other gear from them. Lewis Arthur was very professional and helpful through the process.

I'm really glad I purchased this lens for my R6 mkii. I use it primarily for surfing photography and it works fantastic. The focus is quick at all focal lengths and snaps onto the subject with ease. I would say the amount of accurately focused images is pretty much exactly on par with the EF 100-400 L II and 1.4x combination I was using before. I use it for video, too, and I would say the lens outpaces my previous setup slightly, with the caveat being that I really miss the ability to grab the manual focus ring easily with the older L lens. A couple of downsides that may or may not affect your purchasing decision... it feels like there is a fair amount of vignetting throughout the zoom range. I don't mind the look of it though, so it's not a deal killer for me. The biggest issue for me with this lens is that the barrel is really tight...like tight-tight even with it set at the loosest option. When you combine early morning shoots and a touch of arthritis, zooming can be downright painful if you need to go from 200 to 800 in a hurry. At the end of the day though, I'm 100% satisfied with my purchase and would get it again in a heartbeat. The zoom range is really fun to use and I haven't been tempted even for one second to grab my old lens combination before heading out the door.

Great Lens! I have used the lens for taking many photos of eagles and osprey at a lake near my home.

Bought this lens as the 100-500 was a hassle to use with and extender and the IS was unusable for video. The 200-800 for photo is amazing! But the image stabilization is even worse than the 70-200L and 100-500L series lenses in video and the image can come out quite soft. The image with IS on doesn't follow your pan and will randomly shift left or right. The potential

As a passionate birding, nature, and sports photographer, I was in search of a lens that could deliver exceptional performance without compromising my physical comfort. I had the canon 100-400mm but for my bird photography i needed more reach. Last year, I invested in the Sigma 60-600mm, which offered fantastic versatility and clarity. However, the combined weight of my setup with that lens easily exceeded 9 lbs, making long days in the field (sometimes lasting 8 to 13 hours)-extremely taxing on my back. I have been eyeballing the Canon RF 200-800mm lens for quite some time but I hadn't moved into a mirrorless camera yet. However this lens has truly transformed my photography experience. At just around 6 lbs with my current setup, it's significantly lighter, and the difference is substantial. Carrying this lens for extended periods no longer feels like a physical strain, allowing me to focus entirely on capturing the perfect shot. The extra 200mm reach has been an absolute game changer for my birding and wildlife photography without an extender. I can now capture distant subjects with great detail, and the clarity of the images has exceeded my expectations. The lens communicates seamlessly with my eos r5 Canon camera, thanks to the RF mount's advanced technology. Autofocus took a minute to get used to and was a bit tricky at times because of distractions (branches etc) but when it's in its snappy and precise. The image stabilization compensates up to 5.5 stops, making handheld shooting worlds steadier than my canon 5D mark iv. This feature has been invaluable for capturing sharp images in lower-light conditions. I want to play more with the customizable control ring. While I occasionally miss the ability to drop back to 60mm for wider shots during sports photography, the benefits of this lens far outweigh the limitations. For most of my work, the 200-800mm range covers all my needs, and the trade-off feels worth it for the lighter weight and extended reach. Plus, the RF system's ability to lock onto and track subjects has been life changing. This lens has been such a great addition to my gear. Its balance of weight, reach, and performance makes it ideal for anyone who spends long days in the field or wants to push their wildlife and sports photography to the next level. My photos have never looked better, without the strain of a heavier setup. If you're looking for a versatile, high-performing telephoto lens that prioritizes comfort and quality, I highly recommend the RF 200-800mm.

Love the 800mm telephoto reach, especially for photographing birds. I was quite happy to discover that the 200-800mm RF lens doesn't feel significantly heavier than a Canon 100-500mm RF lens when attached to a Canon R6 Mark II. It is a very long lens but surprisingly still very usable handheld. Great image quality. very sharp. My lens had a very long backorder, but I'm happy that I stuck out the wait. This lens is worth it!

Having the ability to reach out to 800mm allows for pictures that would otherwise be incredibly difficult or almost impossible otherwise.

So far, so good. Had a sunny day at Gilbert Water Ranch in AZ. Detail looks sharp for these bird portraits. Did not get an opportunity to capture any birds in flight. Was worth the 4 month wait. I tried to add photos, but this link keeps taking me to the product page.

At this price point, this lens is a bargain. But it's not a 5 star lens. What makes it a bargain is what takes it down to a 4 star lens for me. No internal focusing and relatively slow making it more challenging as light levels drop. Still, I like it a lot.

It's been a very good lens with sharp images my only complaints are no lens lock to keep it in place while walking and I can't use cpl and hood at same time.

I think Canon RF 200 MM TO 800MM is very good lense for sports wildlife and it light for handheld shooting good focus for my style of shooting It price range make it a great choice of a super telephoto lense. On the Canon R5 this lense did well to impressed me for sure. Only con is the weight on long shooting day some might need an Mono pod.

This lens has the obvious advantage for wildlife of a tremendous range of focal length. Sharpness at the upper end seems fine, contrary to several reviews that I have seen.

I have been using this lens for the past month, the results have been fantastic. My only complaint is that this lens has a lot more weight than my 100 to 500.

I received this lens last week and the first few days taking it out were rainy and overcast. I was pleasantly surprised by the performance. I got within about 20-50 feet of two Northern Harriers and was able to get very usable shots even in flight. Topaz Photo AI was needed to get rid of noise at ISO 4000 and higher on the R5 but the results were excellent. Once the weather cleared up, I was able to get out in bright sun and attach the 1.4 teleconverter. As long as the birds were not more than 50 feet away, I was able to get very sharp results, albeit with fewer keepers. The focus is fast, nearly as much as the 100-500. I've been using the 100-500 with the R7 and feel that overall, this lens with the R5 performs better all around. I've yet to test it with the R7, but based on some reviews I watched, I would expect it to perform similarly to the 100-500 as long as light is decent. Some reviewers have complained about the tightness of the zoom ring even on the smooth setting, but I find it to be just right. The picture of the bufflehead diving was done with the 1.4 TC at max zoom.

For under $2000 this lens is hard to beat. On a crop sensor camera (Canon R7) you get an incredible 1280mm. It is sharp all the way through. The only issue is the amount of turns needed to go from 200 to 800mm. It is also a bit heavier than I expected but with the extra reach it should be expected. I have yet to try it on my R5 but I would only think it would perform even better.
