The RF 24mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM Lens is highly versatile and can be used for a variety of photography styles. Its wide-angle focal length makes it ideal for landscape, architecture, and street photography. The bright f/1.8 maximum aperture and image stabilization features allow for exceptional low-light and shallow depth of field photography. The lens's close-focusing capability also makes it suitable for detailed macro photography.
The Optical Image Stabilization feature in the RF 24mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM Lens helps to reduce camera shake, providing up to 5.5 stops of shake correction. This ensures sharp, blur-free images even when shooting handheld. When used with a compatible EOS R-series camera equipped with In-Body Image Stabilization, the coordinated IS system can achieve up to 6.5 stops of correction.
The 52mm Multi Coated UV Slim Filter serves a dual purpose. Firstly, it protects your lens from dust, scratches, and other potential damage. Secondly, it reduces haze and helps prevent loss of sharpness in your images caused by UV rays.
The control ring on the RF 24mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM Lens allows for direct adjustments of settings such as shutter speed, aperture, and exposure compensation. The tactile design and clicking feedback mechanism make it easy to operate, even when your eye is on the viewfinder.
Yes, the RF 24mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM Lens is excellent for videography. It features a lead screw-type STM motor that ensures smooth, quiet autofocus, making it ideal for capturing video content without the distraction of noise.

Fast wide close, and reasonably priced. Compact and light weight. Can't ask for much more. Perhaps it has issues in test scenarios, I haven't noticed them, but in real world use this is a great lens.

After two days of shooting with this lens, I have to admit that I'm impressed with the image quality. Pictures are clear and sharp. The lens is wide enough to get a good wide angle shot but not so wide that I can see my shoes when pointing the lens straight ahead.

I bought this lens and after using it for two days of photography, I have to say that I'm impressed. The view angle is wide enough for a good wide angle shot but not so wide that I can see my shoes when pointing straight ahead. The images are impressively crisp and detailed for the price.

This is the first lens I bought with my R8 and I couldn't be happier with it. It's very bright and crisp, and the close zooming is impressive!

Purchased this lens for low-light general photo and video on my R7 (where it acts as a 38.4mm full frame equivalent), and it has certainly delivered for that purpose. The weak corners are cropped out on APS-C, leaving behind sharp and colorful imagery throughout. It's quite silent for video work too, perhaps due to the "Slow Focus Transition" setting. The image quality is even great wide open at f/1.8, however I've found the chromatic aberration at this aperture can ruin certain high-contrast scenes (such as snowscapes with dark tree trunks) despite not being overly visible on the LCD/EVF. Stop down to f/2.8 or darker in such scenarios. Unfortunately, I found it awkward to use for macro thanks to the focus breathing, which is a shame as the colors and sharpness are great. The moving focal element can be awkward too, and feels fragile even if it isn't particularly. The lack of an included hood it very petty on Canon's part. For $300 during a refurbished sale, this lens was well worth the money, especially for a crop camera. As a bonus it looks quite nice aesthetically mounted on the R7 too.
