10 + LOVE IT.

LOVE THIS CAMERA! SHOOTS FAST! GREAT QUALITY PHOTOS. LOVE IT THAT IT DOES 'NOT' WARP THE BALL LIKE THE R5. (ONLY DOWNFALL, I HAVE A SMALL HAND AND IT STARTS TO HURT IT AFTER SHOOTING AWHILE)

Nikin Z9 Killer

Please read this through. Shooting nikon for 15 plus years, The Z9 was my last purchase from Nikon. I have had the D6-D850-D700-D610 and so on. my biggest issue with the Z9 is that when eye tracking locked on showing you that the camera was in focus and tracking it really wasnt. ive spent many hours working thought settings to see if it was user error. A year and a half later i gave up.. 206K photos and only a handful of usable photos.. I gave up. Met with a fellow Photographer who was shooting the R1 and he spent some time with me explaining things with the R1 I was ready to switch to canon but now, do i get the R1 or the R3? I went with the R3 since it was my first canon and well i saved myself 2500 buck, The R1 has a little better tracking ability and some other minor features the R3 doesnt have but for me it wasnt worth it. Instantly noticed how tack sharp these pictures are coming out of a 24MP sensor. Just amazed. I can sing praises about this R3 all day but you have to experience it for yourself.. Thing to note, If your switching form Nikon youll have a bit of a learning curve. The cameras do the same thing but the language they use is very different.

Great Speed, Low-light, and Video Machine for Wildlife

I've used the R5 since 2021 for wildlife photography and 4k 120 slow-motion videography. I wanted a second camera for low light, fast action, and video. The R3 has excellent ergonomics, low-light performance, and very stable IBIS for handheld video. The video quality out of this camera is superior to the R5 too. I think the R3 is a no brainer alongside an R5 or R5 Mark II for wildlife photography. I really liked this bundle and it came double boxed with care from Adorama, which I appreciate.

The Best Sports Camera!

I bought this camera a few months ago for my high school sports photography and it has been nothing short of amazing! The eye control is fast and responsive and works very well despite what some reviews say. The 30fps shooting speed is great and very responsive. I also have an R7 which is advertised to shoot at 30fps but never seems like it does unlike the R3. The LCD is also very bright and the touch screen works well. It's a solidly built camera and I'm excited to use it for years to come! The only downside I have noticed is the battery life which is sub par in my opinion. Hopefully in the future Canon can switch from the LP-E19. I'm surprised they've used it in the R1 considering that the battery debuted in the 1DX II

Amazing camera!

Wow!!!!!! Unreal to say the least: :-) Have been shooting with Nikon for over 18 years and finally I decided to change to Canon. This camera and Lens @ 24-105 is absolutely amazing. I still have lots to learn the modes and functions but that alone keeps me more interested. Stunning pictures so far

Canon R3 at the best price out there!

I rented this camera before I made the purchase and Adorama had the best deal I could find. Even with the drop in price, the price I paid was below the average with the special discount code they were advertising. I am very happy with my purchase. The R3 is a focusing beast. I'm still getting the hang of the tracking system, but the image quality and shutter speed are superb!

Sports and wildlife beast

I've had this for a couple of weeks now and have just one minor complaint. I also have a 45 megapixel Z9 which I love and when people say 24 megapixels isn't enough for wildlife, that's just complete bull. It's plenty even leaving room to crop in but you can't be unrealistic if the bird or animal is just too far away. The sensor is beautiful and has a lot of character. The only complaint I have is the bump for the thumb rest is uncomfortable. I don't know if it is because it sticks out too far but I actually started to get a blister.

A great professional mirrorless camera - BUY IT!

After 50 years of being a Nikon shooter, I switched to Canon because of this R3 camera. While it is not perfect in several important areas, this is the best professional stills camera that I've ever owned. BEST POSITIVES: 1. Great autofocus mode, especially for shooting auto racing. 2. Easy and effective basic movie mode: Just press the red button. 3. Great exposures and natural color reproduction. 4. Comfortable camera-holding ergonomics (very similar to Nikon). 5. Rugged lens mount. 6. Tremendous 24/7, North America based, knowledgeable pro support (even better than Nikon because it is 24/7). 7. Very good compromise between high resolution and reasonable image size for storage. WORST NEGATIVES/MISSING FEATURES: 1. There are two different types of onboard memory card writers/readers. They should both be the faster CF Express, so that there can be a backup at the same resolution. 2. Too much high ISO noise (compared to my previous Nikon D5 DSLR). 3. Too heavy. 4. Needs a large EVF screen overlay that confirms video recording. The existing one is so small and off to the side that I've not been recording video when I thought that I was, thus missing those shots. 5. Needs more AUTOFOCUS MODES. One should be for airplanes in flight (at air shows). 6. Could benefit from PROGRAM MODES to set up the camera for quickly switching to a few basic automatic modes (fast action, low light, shallow depth of field, maximized depth of field, background blur on panning shots, fireworks, etc.). 7. Could use a dedicated button for sending medium resolution JPEGs to iPhones (would be useful when shooting RAW images). 8. No third party RF lens options (this was especially bad when there were few RF lenses available). Canon should provide info to Tamron (my preferred brand of third party lenses) and Sigma so that they would not have to reverse/engineer their lenses. My main regret is that I paid $6,000 and now the price has dropped to $4,500. Buy it!

Good but not Great.

Good but lacks a few key features to be 5/5 hybrid camera. Pros: - Great Ergonomics - Great Viewfinder - Great button layout and controls - Good at higher iso (eg: 6400) - Good Autofocus - Good All-Around camera - Good/OK battery life Cons: - Lacks Shutter Angle to be a truly "no hassle" hybrid that can switch from photo to video effortlessly. - Video assist tools are very "primitive" compared to other cameras in this price range. - Connecting Wirelessly to iPhone is still buggy. Frequently fails to connect. - Lacks options for a wired connection to iPhone. You need third party paid apps to do this (eg: Capture One) - Lacks compatibility with latest MacOS (no EOS Utility) Conclusion: for a top of the line $5000 camera, it feels a little bit unpolished and lacking in features compared to similarly priced top of the line cameras. Hopefully many of these issues can be solved via firmware update. If they can, this will be a great camera.

Best purchase I've made in a while!

I am absolutely overjoyed to have purchased the R3 and excited for the images and video I will be able to capture. Before getting the R3 I had been shooting an R6. I watched several videos on the R3 prior to purchase and thought I had a pretty good idea of what to expect. When I actually got it in my hands and began to set it up, I was amazed to discover the true capabilities of the R3 and the labyrinth of customizable options. I truly enjoy shooting the R3 and it is an absolute game-changer. During set-up I maximize options by leaving and using dedicated buttons as set, and not taking up an additional button to serve those functions. I am still tweaking the settings and finding more ways to make the most of this great camera.

The Best Camera Ever!!!!!

I've had my R3 for about 2 weeks now I can't and don't want to put it down!!!!! Best camera I've ever owned and finally my first pro body!!!!! I started getting into photography in 2009 with a Canon Rebel. I graduated to the 50D, then the 60D, to the 5D Mark II, finally followed by the 5D Mark III. I always wanted a 1D system but it was far out of my reach. When I seen mirrorless cameras I knew that was the future but, Canon wasn't gonna go there quickly. So I waited until they released the R I immediately sold all DSLR gear when that happened. The mirrorless technology coupled with the RF glass was everything I was waiting for. I finally got he R5 and R6. My photography business shooting weddings, senior and family portraits skyrocketed. I drooled over the R3 for 2 years and now finally I have it and I love it!!!! The autofocusing system in this camera is absolutely insane. The colors are true to life. The dynamic range is stellar and lowlight performance is nothing short of amazing!!!! Thank you Canon!!!!!

Best Auto focus yet

Best auto focusing camera I have ever owned from Canon. I started using pro cameras with the 1Dx Mark III, then Mark IV, 1Dx, 1Dx II, then skipped the hybrid and went with an R5. The R5 for fast birds in flight was a bit of a disappointment as it is very slow to acquire focus with something that darts in fast. The R3 on the other hand is the closest to using a dslr, and the focus is fast and accurate. Best auto focusing camera Canon has ever produced.

Great camera

Great camera. Bought it 14 months ago and have shot 1.3 million sports photos with it. The high frame rate helps get that one pic with the ball on the finger tips and the soccer ball flattened by the player's head. Only down side is difficulty keeping the eye control auto focus turned off so I can lock in the desired focus point.

Disappointed.

Autofocus is not that good, Eye control is disappointing. Needs AI technology. EL1's hardly works due to RF interferences. I bought 3 and they all are the same.

Simply?..AWESOME !

Such an amazing camera. I've been shooting Canon cameras since my first SLR in 1971 - an FTb-QL that I bought in a pawn shop. I've progressed through MANY Canon cameras since then, but the R3 is the first new camera that has impressed me as much as this one has. The sensor is amazingly crisp and sharp; the AF options are virtually infinite, the eye-tracking is surreal; and the fit/form/function of this camera is simply stunning. Thanks again Canon, for restoring my faith in your technology.

Take your photos to the next level with this full frame beauty.

After having a mix of APS-C sensor bodies and full frames, it was time to take the leap. The R3 doesn't disappoint. Bigger batteries, bigger sensor (than an APS-C), bigger photos. If you want to elevate your photography and have great low light photos, the R3 is the camera for you. Go from being ordinary to extra-ordinary!

It's trying to do too much and missing the mark in multiple areas

Had it a year now. It's fast and when it works right it's the best camera out there but there's so many dumb things and issues about it. I do event photography for a major wire service. I've been doing it for 17yrs and never had any of the issues I have with this camera. The iso wheel moves any time the camera is on your shoulder and so when I pick it back up to shoot my iso will be on 1600 or so when I set it to 400. I can put the camera in lock mode but I change fstop sometimes in the middle of shooting a photo to give myself multiple exposures and I can't do that when it's locked. The focus point constantly moves on you and you have to reset it back to the middle. It's horrible in low light with a flash. I use the EL-1. There's no assist beam from the flash bc this camera is mirrorless and so if you're in a dark room with minimal light as I am for many events, the camera struggles to find a focus and I have to turn the bulb on some times. If you're shooting a full length of someone and punch in quick for a half length or headshot the focus has to be completely reset and you have to give yourself a solid second to refocus. Otherwise the camera will be focused somewhere in the background. My 1Dx Mark II has none of these issues. There's no way to shut off the back screen when you're in between shots so it burns battery. My 1dx screen is only on for a 1-2 second preview of whatever I just shot which this does but then this screen stays on and thinks you're shooting in live view mode. They're trying to cater to too many demographics with this camera. It's a pro/amateur camera whereas cameras like the 1Dx line were strictly professional. Professional photogs don't use swivel screens. We don't need the extra buttons or junk. We just want a pro-line camera that only does what we tell it to do. The one plus this has over other cameras is the Retna focus. I shoot dodgers games and boxing matches in addition to events and using the Retna focus in those environments has been helpful, especially boxing where your focus point is constantly changing as the boxers rotate and move. All you have to do is look at whichever one you want in focus. I hope the R1 or whatever comes next takes care of all these issues. I haven't bought a second R3 because of its faults. I keep my 1Dx Mark II as my second camera. That thing is a work horse.

R3 starter kit + camera lens (bought separately) lets me take photos from day 1

Bought this kit and first delivery came with insecure packaging so Adorama provided a replacement shipment and everything came quickly and works well. I have been using the R3 + RF 100-500mm lens for a few weeks now and am quite happy with the purchase. The camera comes with a Canon battery, but the additional kit batteries are not Canon brand, if that's important to you. Looking forward to continuing to test this whole kit out on my trip to Tanzania soon. I would recommend this product as a great starter kit for R3 needs.

R3 will dominate for years to come. Legendary build it just feels oh so right in your hands like a pro camera should! All the other positive reviews are spot so I won't bore you with the highlights of this camera! So if you have the dough, shoot professionally and or want the best well then, this camera will not disappoint.

Good but has room for improvement

Although I'm still getting used to the steep learning curve associated with switching from a Canon 1DX, I feel the Canon EOS R3 is a good mirrorless camera but definitely not a great camera, particularly for wildlife photography. If (hopefully when) Canon introduces a top-of-the-line EOS R1, it will include the suggestions below. Good features of the R3: 1) The size and weight of the camera is really a nice improvement over the 1DX series, although I do find myself hitting the AF-ON button unintentionally at times (it naturally falls under my thumb while holding the camera). 2) The size of the buffer is a huge improvement over the buffer sizes of the 1D and 1DX series cameras I previously owned. 3) The shutter is extremely quiet. 4) Eye tracking is amazing. Now for the bad: 1) Eye control - not a fault of the camera but since I wear eyeglasses (progressive focus lenses), eye control doesn't work for me and I have it turned off. 2) I'd prefer a 45-50 mega pixel sensor. 3) Since I normally do not take video with the camera and save each photo to both cards, I'd prefer having CF Express Type B cards for both card slots instead of an SD card as the second slot. 4) I haven't been able to find a way to change the set frame per second rates (fps) for the various continuous shooting rates. on the 1DX you can set the continuous shooting speed for high continuous between 2-12 fps and low continuous between 1-11. I set the low to 5 fps which is about the fastest I can shoot at to where I normally can take just 1 image if desired but can also hold down the shutter release for a continuous burst if needed. As far as I can tell with the R3 the continuous low is set to 3 fps for all drive modes and can't be changed (nor can the other higher rates be changed except in custom high-speed continuous - see note 6 below). 5) The cover to protect the multi-function shoe is a joke (I lost mine the second time I used the camera and had to buy a spare, once it became available, that I have to tape in place to reduce the chance of it accidentally being dislodged and lost). 6) Custom high-speed continuous shooting: I'd like to see this modified so that it would work more like the Pro Capture feature that the Olympus OM-1 four thirds camera has where the camera begins recording at a user-selected rate (e.g. 30 fps) once the shutter button is pressed half-way down and saves up to a user-selected number of recorded images (e.g. up to 60 or so) when the shutter is fully depressed but doesn't save any of the images if the shutter release is not fully depressed. Currently Canon's custom high-speed continuous shooting allows you to set a frame rate up to 195 fps for up to 50 images that are recorded beginning when the shutter release is fully depressed. I really don't see much of a need to take 50 images in a little over a quarter of a second (i.e. 195 fps divided by 50 images = 0.256 sec). Since I do a lot of bird photography where a bird might fly to a perch before flying to a bird feeder or water feature, I'd love to be able to begin recording the bird on the perch in anticipation of it flying to the feeder or water, tract it all the way to the feeder, and then fully depress the shutter so that I save the flight shots (at a set rate of maybe 20-30 fps) without filling the cards with an unknown number of shots of the bird perched while I'm waiting for it to fly to the feeder or water. 7) Finally, the manual for the R3 is horrible. The Instruction Manual provided with the camera is totally worthless - it is basically a how to turn on the camera for dummies and not much more. The 1,074-page Advanced User's Guide (that you have to download at Canon's website) doesn't even have an index to make it easier to locate a topic. It would be nice to have a more compact version of the Advanced User's Guide (that includes an index) included with the camera. Hopefully if Canon makes an R1 mirrorless it will include most of these suggestions.

About The EOS R3 Mirrorless Camera
Building on the success of the EOS R series of cameras and leveraging advancements in technology that have come along since, the EOS R3 combines some of the best of both the EOS R5 and EOS-1D X Mark III cameras to provide a robust, high-performance camera. The EOS R3 is the first "3" series camera since the popular EOS-3 film camera launched in 1998.

At the heart of the EOS R3 is a Canon developed 24.1 megapixel back-illuminated stacked CMOS sensor which combines with the DIGIC X processor to deliver a higher speed readout, allowing for continuous blackout-free shooting at up to 30 fps in electronic (silent) shutter mode with minimum rolling distortion. The combination also increases the high sensitivity light capturing efficiency of a native ISO of 102400 for still images. The improved Dual Pixel CMOS AF II with 1,053 AF Points features evolved EOS iTR tracking for subjects such as people, animals, as well as select cars and motorcycles down to EV -7.5.

The EOS R3 also allows the user multiple ways of controlling AF using Eye Control AF, Smart Controller with home position and the classic multi-controller. The camera also includes a new multi-function hot shoe which alleviates the need for extra batteries and cables in accessories such as microphones and flash transmitters. The EOS R3 also includes flexible connectivity options with built-in wired LAN, GPS, USB, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

The Canon EOS R3 is designed to satisfy the most demanding expectations in a camera - emphasizing speed, performance, and reliability.

About The Glass LCD Screen Protector Kit for Canon EOS R3, R5
The Pro Optic Glass Screen Protector for the Canon EOS R5 is super durable, made of tempered multi-layered ultra-thin Japanese optical glass, and delivers maximum scratch protection while preserving crystal clear image resolution.

Besides unmatched protection, it has particular anti-reflective layers to prevent ultraviolet ray damage to the LCD while maintaining precise sensitivity on cameras featuring capacitive touchscreens. It's only 0.44mm thin and features a scratch and smudge-resistant surface that repels natural skin oils, so it's always a breeze to clean using the supplied microfiber cloth and wet wipe.

The advanced Pro Optic shatter-proof LCD screen protector adopts the electrostatic adsorption theory to firmly meld to the camera screen. Just align the glass over your camera LCD screen and watch the magic. No sticky materials are used to affix the screen; therefore, no adhesive deterioration will ruin the preview's lucidity. The protector installs bubble free, and the clarity is astonishing. The glass removes from the camera without leaving a trace.

A special tool is included to aid in installation.
