destroy the background on a budget
This lens is great for the price. it allows for tremendous creativity for a hobbyist who likes or doesn't care about some aberrations. auto focus is fast and precise even at f1.2; you can make your subject pop out from a messy background... This lens is the only reason I switched from Nikon to Canon.. Zero regrets. (Sorry Nikon I'm a Canon Boy now)
For the money, can you really split hairs?
I used to shoot nothing but prime lenses, and when the Canon 28-70 F/2L came out, I sold all of them except my 105mm Sigma 1.4, and that has been my work horse lens for the last half decade. I was so excited to grab this lens for run and gun engagement sessions, street photography etc, and it has not disappointed!
