50mm Full Frame Canon Lens

Absolutely love this new lens kit!!! You guys truly took care of me (I tried to save a few bucks at the start and ordered a used one from you, which turned out to be more used than anticipated. However, you accepted it back and quickly credited me back at 100%).. Thank you so much!!!

The Canon affordable Nifty Fifty

This RF 50mm STM (Niffty Fifty) is a must have lens to add to your equipment. I do a lot of traveling and this is a great carry around lens for mu Canon EOS R6 Mark II. It's very affordable and I recommend as a low budget prime lens.

Super-sharp and inexpensive "nifty fifty"

This is a super-sharp and inexpensive "nifty fifty" which should be in the bag of every Canon RF mirrorless user. I shoot Nikon but when our first grandchild was born, I gave one to our son in law. He swapped it out with his Canon "kit" zoom lens and has never looked back. I wish Canon made more lenses like this one!

A good lens. Just know its limitations.

I bought this lens a few months ago refurbished during a big flash sale. After all, every photographer needs at least one standard focal length lens for whatever format size they're shooting on. The lens looked brand new when it arrived. The lens has a metal base, but is plastic for everything else. The lens does a great job of controlling unwanted flares and ghosting. Images are sharp enough when stopped down once or twice, but can be a little bit soft wide open, which is typical. I was able to get some amazing photos after dark on a recent trip to Vegas, but without IS or IBIS, I was definitely pushing this lens to its limits when handholding the camera. The control ring and manual focus requires diving into the menu after moving the switch on the side of the lens, and no lens hood is included. Despite these things, it's still a good lens to add to your camera bag if you can get one for the right price.

Nifty Fifty

The autofocus is swift and accurate. Pictures are clear and bright. Bokeh is easy to control. I got this lens as a replacement for my old Minolta 50mm 1.7 from 1986 which I used (manual focus) with an adapter on my Eos R7.

Outstanding Lens

Quality Glass in a small package, technology came a long way. The new RF lenses are amazing; you don't have to buy L to get quality images anymore and I mean Quality. This lens is like having 2 in one, it captures a bit closer in the frame compared to the L and better at close ups also. From around F3 things get super sharper.

Greta value and quality

I am pleasantly surprised at the quality of this lens at the price point it is. The lens feels good and the image quality is great, with good focusing using the R6.

Sharp Inexpensive Prime

Bought my first entry level "real" camera (R100) on a whim during a Black Friday sale with two kit zoom lenses. After getting a chance to use it a bit, and really enjoying it taking it on vacation, I decided to try a few different lenses. This was the first additional lens I bought and first prime lens. So far I am really enjoying it. It really make the image quality step up from the basic kit lenses. I bought this as a refurbished unit right from Canon, so it made it even cheaper. The only thing that surprised me was how noticeably loud the auto focus is. Don't really notice it outdoors, but indoor in low light it does hunt around for focus a lot. It is loud enough to pic up on the microphone when recording video. I can feel the motor moving back and forth if I have it on and just walk through my house. I've had to override and focus manually a lot too. I do also find the 50mm focal length on a crop sensor camera a little too narrow to be the go to, all around length, especially indoors. I also bough a used 30mm prime from a 3rd party company, which is roughly about the 50mm full frame equivalent on a APS-C. That's what I leave on the camera as a default to get a quick pic around my house. I do like the 50mm better for walking around hiking though. It is also very compact to through in a travel bag.

Cannon lens 50mm with filter kit

I am new to photography. I purchased 3 lenses plus the one that came with the camera. I am enjoying all my pieces but have a lot of practice to do. This particular lens I am learning is for close portraits and is giving me beautiful portraits. I love all of my products and recommend Adorama highly.

What's not to like about the Canon RF 50mm!

Really nice lens. It surprised me. I normally shoot birds and wildlife, but this Nifty Fifty will work nicely for holiday family photos. At a $200 price point, everyone should have one. As usual, Adorama was great!

Worth it !!

After using the RF 50mm for about three weeks and shooting over 100 images, I'm going to give the lens 5 stars. This lens produces good quality images and the viewing angle (50mm) is useful for a wide variety of photography. And with a wide aperture of F 1.8, it works well in low lighting situations. At a current price of $200 as of August 2024, I think this is a very useful lens to have.

Fantastic lens!

This is a great lens, 50mm is a good focal length in general. This lens focuses well, is lightweight, and has a really nice bokeh. I had a Tamron 24-70 2.8 but I returned it and got this along with the RF 35mm and the RF 70-200mm F4 and I'm glad I did. The 24-70 was very heavy and didn't have the bokeh of the lighter prime lenses. Adorama is great about throwing in accessory kits so make sure you check out the bundle options!

Great lens just don't get it wet.

RF 50MM that on Canons EOS R50 1.61 APS-C Crop is more like 80-81 ish. I love 80-85mm range for my photography it feels so good to take photos in that range and most of the time when I look at a scene thats where my brain goes. I love how cheap this lens is you can get it for like a really good price if you look around and on sales. This lens is also not waterproof as it's not an L lens and doesn't get the fancy red ring. Once again as a landscape photographer in the pacific northwest that is a large issue! I feel like a broken record but it really does suck. I do however love how this lens renders and I think it's wonderful the whole thing is great it's just a shame about the Dust and rain issues with canons cheaper gear.

I?m no professional. Very happy with the lens . Pictures look better than the kit lens . People compliment the picture quality

The most brilliant concept ever

By alex_nika_photography

If you know what you are doing, you can buy this lens today, take it with you to capture some event, and return your investment the very same day. 50 mm is the focal length when people start looking good, and f/1.8 is just enough to blur the background (in most cases). F/2.8 is impressive, and this is - two times better and 20 times less expensive. Some strange reviews are complaining that the edges are soft at f/1.8. As a photographer, I know that if I'm using f/1.8 there is something imp...

RF50mm F1.8 STM
For anyone with an EOS R series camera, add the RF50mm F1.8 STM lens to that list. As a 50mm lens it's already compact, but as part of the EOS R System, it's even more compact due to its compatibility with an EOS R camera body, so there's every reason to keep it attached or put in your bag so you can shoot - and get a great shot - anywhere and anytime. Size isn't all though.

As a fixed focal length lens, it lets you be creative with composition and can be used for a wide range of scenes, from snapshots to portraits to landscapes and more. Those images will stand out, too, just like you intend whether on social media or just sharing, thanks to impressive optical features like a PMo aspherical lens to suppress aberrations, coatings to reduce flaring and ghosting, and a large f/1.8 aperture for low-light shooting and circular bokeh. Pick it up and use it one time and you'll see for yourself, and you won't be able to leave the house without it.

Compact, Lightweight Fixed 50mm Focal Length Lens
Being bulky or inconvenient to carry is never a concern with the RF50mm F1.8 STM lens. Its compact size makes it appealing to bring on any trip or excursion and is quite handy to have around, too, with its 50mm fixed focal length letting you be creative with composition and because the 50mm focal length is similar to what the actual human eye sees, it provides a great representation to capture impressive portraits, landscapes, food photos and more.

Large F/1.8 Aperture for Low-Light Photography and Creative Background Blur
The f/1.8 aperture provides you with a number of benefits and options for your photography, including being able to shoot with faster shutter speeds in low light, helping to decrease the effects of camera shake for a more steady shot, reducing the amount of noise in your image, and the ability to beautifully blur the background or foreground depending on your creative taste.

A Stepping Motor (Gear-Type STM) Provides Smooth and Quiet Continuous AF During Video Recording, As Well As When Shooting Photos
The RF50mm F1.8 STM lens uses a gear-type stepping motor to provide smooth and quiet autofocus when shooting both still and video, so focusing appears seamless while following a subject with Servo AF, or Movie Servo AF. Focus racks will have clean transitions when repositioning to another subject, or when focusing from foreground to background.

Control Ring for Direct Setting Changes
Standard on all RF lenses, the control ring on the lens barrel enables you to adjust numerous settings including shutter speed, aperture, exposure compensation and more. Located towards the front of the lens and effectively adding a third dial to the EOS R and EOS RP, and a fourth dial for EOS R5 and EOS R6 cameras, the control ring has a tactile, easily distinguished surface so you can grasp and make any setting changes quickly. This ring can also be easily switched to function as a focus ring with the focus/control switch located on the side of the lens, so you can adjust the focus to your desired preference.

Optimized Lens Placement and Coatings Help Deliver Outstanding Color Balance, While Minimizing Ghosting and Flare
Since you'll be carrying this lens with you quite often you'll want something that provides great results. The large diameter and short back focus inherent in all RF lenses helps with image quality while a carefully placed single PMo aspherical lens helps to reduce aberrations at the periphery of the image, with lens coatings further assisting by helping to reduce flaring and ghosting, so your images are clear, vivid and inspiring.

Circular 7-Blade Aperture Helps Deliver Beautiful, Soft Backgrounds
You'll have no problem getting that creative, fun and pleasant out-of-focus background blur we all love with the circular 7-blade aperture, so your subject stands out and the background provides a beautiful backdrop that's visually appealing in itself.

Minimum Focusing Distance of 0.98 Ft. and Maximum Magnification of 0.25x
Capture amazing shots wherever you are and whatever your subject, even at a close distance of 0.98 ft. at a maximum magnification of 0.25x, making this not just an ideal lens for everyday casual shooting but for more intricate shots like food, flowers and smaller subjects you really want to show off.

12-pin Communication System
Designed to quickly process data, the 12-pin communication system inherent in all RF lenses helps accelerate autofocusing and more, helping to simplify complex operations and provide a quick and reliable user experience.

Up To 7 Stops Of Shake Correction with EOS R Series Cameras with In-Body Image Stabilizer
When combined with an EOS R Series camera with In-Body Image Stabilizer, you can experience the benefits of high-precision 5-axis image stabilization even without Optical Image Stabilization so you can capture amazingly clear and steady results while shooting handheld photos or videos, even in low-light situations like indoors or night scenes, without having to significantly increase the ISO or grab a tripod.
