I've got an M6 which I love and use for hiking -- it clips on my backpack and is both small and light. Of course the "M" series is discontinued -- my daughter wanted something similar. We're both Canon shooters with plenty of other cameras for the last 20 years. This was what I got her to fill the bill; its very close in size with the kit lens to the M6, and she loves it for this purpose. Of course its not waterproof so you have to take some care with it, but for this application small and light without compromising much else is the key, and that it has the same quality of sensor is the biggie. Now if there were just more of them at the price I paid for this one (I'd upgrade my M6 to one of these too.... :-))

I'm in month 2 with this little powerhouse & I love it, its simplicity w/o sacrificing too much "real world," big boy abilities. I also love the wide-ranging lens lineup, from the new lineup at canon, Canon "refurbished," used, & Aftermarket opportunities from sigma, Sirui & so This camera is superb for newbies & intermediates alike & I can see where vloggers / content creators will be able to flourish w/ the usage of this little cam that could!

Bought it a year ago and it went bad right after 1 yr mark. It been getting err 20 and it takes more than half of its price for canon to fix it.

I upgraded from a DSLR (Canon 90D) and prefer the mirrorless Canon R50. It's more sensitive, MUCH lighter, "smarter" (can do more automatically), fits in my pocket with this lens retracted, and is just a nice companion. With the 90D, it's so heavy that I'd have to consciously think "Do I really want to lug a camera around today?" But the R50 just comes with me no matter what.

The product is absolutely amazing and has worked great for me! If I had to say one con of this product I would say that this product is simple. Not a bad thing, but it limits some of the features on the camera that can be found on other products still a great product and I definitely recommend to beginners and intermediate photographers

Great camera so far, for someone new to photography and doing this as a side hobby, I would highly recommend. Not sure why some reviews are poor regarding quality and overheating, it has yet to get hot, or show issues, the quality is great and if you know how to use settings and the camera in general you'll get awesome photos. My only complaint is the lack of information (or hard to find) lense accessories, but other than that the camera does its job!

This is a really nice camera, and if I was unaware that I bought a refurbished one, I would not be able to tell is wasn't brand new. I looks and operates great. Very happy with my purchase.

Gosh, I wish I could say so many great things about this camera, it's a good starter camera but you really cannot take photos for more that 20 min at a time without it overheating, it drains my batteries it shuts down. I called canon & they say they have no idea about that being a problem which I find funny since it's all over the internet for videos but I don't use it for videos and it still overheats, AND a friend who has the same model, hers also overheats too, so now I have a fun $600 paperweight, invest in a better camera so you're not out the money like I am

This was the easiest purchase we have made for this type of equipment. This was by far the best deal for a package with camera, accessories, software, etc. The shipping was a little off as the package came in 3 or 4 different boxes, but it all arrived eventually, with updates and it is high quality. I will only use Adorama moving forward!!

The R50 is packed with basically everything one could need. The R50 has really good autofocus, extremely good quality, a good sensor, and is incredibly easy to use. The only drawbacks I know of with the R50 is its rolling shutter (only noticeable when panning), its sub-par lens selection and lack of stabilization. If the R50 had a better electronic shutter and more lenses this would be far and away the best value on the market but nonetheless is still one of the best if not the best cameras for people who aren't like paid to shoot weddings.

This is a very compact camera and lens combo and very ideal if you need something lightweight and discreet to shoot with. I bought this for my wife as a beginner and upgrade from a T6 and it was easy for her to use on our trip to Europe. The kit lens is very basic in the look and feel and we ended up using the RF 24-105 that I already had which made a huge difference, so keep your expectations in line with the kit lens as it is pretty limited. Purchasing a more capable lens either RF or RF-S is pretty much a necessity. The camera is very compact and performed well. My wife was easily able to fit it in her purse even with the RF 24-105 lens and using RF-S lenses will make the entire package even more compact. I read other reviews about the camera being too small and have to agree if you have average to larger size hands. This camera would not work for me size wise if I had to use it for an extended period of time. The battery did die quite quickly the first time it was heavily used which I attributed to the battery needing to have a few charge cycles before performing optimally. Other than that, this is an excellent choice for a beginner or someone on a tight budget but still wants a mirrorless camera, while also considering the compact size potentially being an issue.

I was looking for a lightweight yet capable camera for video and stills. The R50 has proven pretty handy for both purposes and is definitely a lot more lightweight than the other setups I have. The stills in particular have been impressive, with most pictures coming out sharp and detailed. It struggles with noise at higher ISO levels (3200+), but it has done the job when needed. I do find the viewfinder a little lackluster, but it's fine generally, just not as nice as some I have used. As for video, with a little more practice I'll be plenty happy with the results. My main problem with video capture has been the autofocus in some way or another. It's great generally, but it's acted up a few times and I missed my shot because of it.

This is the BMW of small intermediate cameras offered by Canon. Fabulous performance and well-built. This is my third R50. I travel for a living and keep an extra R50 with me. The downside is the KIT LENS that is included with the R50. They are entry level. You will probably want to upgrade to a better lens. The R50 is worth every dime Canon charges for it. You will be very pleased.

I really appreciate the value of the Canon refurbished kit. Everything arrived quickly and so far it appears just "like new" and appears to be operating normally. This is my first camera purchase in over a decade (I am a prior point and shoot only photographer) - I am really looking forward to using and learning with this Canon R50. I intend to mainly photograph landscapes/outdoors as I travel.

Love the Canon EOS R50!
By MIGUEL M.
Just received the R50 with the kit lens 18-45mm. After reading countless reviews and watching just about all YouTube videos from photographers who received the pre production camera back in January, I decided to purchase this camera over the R7, R10 and the R8. I've previously owned the Sony a6300 and A7III, the Panasonic G95, and the Canon EOS RP. They all very good cameras, but I realized that I will never be a professional wedding or portrait photographer and didn't need those cameras. ...

Great Beginner Camera
By asimplenerd
As my first camera, I am happy with it after 3 months of use. I think it is a great teaching camera. I am learning a lot and feel like I can take the photos I want to take. It doesn't pressure me to buy new lens or a new body. I get at a pretty good price the ability to take photos that surprise me. I recently was gifted a 16mm lens and that made me more addicted. I like the control rings too. The only consistent issue I have is when I am walking around with it in my hand sometimes I will tr...

About The 55mm Digital Essentials Filter Kit, with Ultra Violet (UV), Circular Polarizer and Neutral Density 2 (ND2) Filters, with Pouch
Pro Optic Pro Digital Multi Coated Filters are renowned for their ability to reduce flare and ghosting and minimize reflection. High quality components, from optically precise elements to lightweight metal rims, ensure the performance of today's multicoated lenses.
Pro Optic Professional Digital Multi Coated filters are recommended for enhancing sharp contrast and balanced color.
The ProOptic Digital Essentials Filter Kit features:
Ultra Violet (UV) Filter
Absorbs the ultraviolet rays natural to the atmosphere which often makes outdoor photographs hazy and indistinct. The color balance remains completely unaffected. The Multi-Coated UV filter is useful for color as well as black and white photography. This essential filter shields your expensive lenses from abrasion and stray damage as a front element protector.
Filter Factor of 1x (no exposure change).
Circular Polarizer (CPL) Filter
Reduces glare and enhances color by selectively cancelling the amount of reflected polarized lightwaves caused by a wide variety of objects, such as glass from buildings, cars and vessels, the sky and clouds, foliage, precious gems, pavement, sand, snow and water. In landscape photography, a CPL can piercehaze revealing dramatic vistas, increase tone and color vibrancy plus give the illusion of depth. By carefully rotating the rings of the filter, you can observe the cancellation effect in the viewfinder tothe degree that you desire. The filter has no effect on metallic substances as they do not reflect polarized light and little effect on flash as the light source must be polarized as well.
The Filter Factor varies from 1.25x to 2x depending on the strength of effect.
Neutral Density (ND2x) Filter
Neutral Density filters evenly reduce the amount of light passing thru the lens without effecting color. They are ideal for situations when a narrow depth is field is needed and the lighting is too bright to allow for large apertures with your chosen shutter speed. Likewise, they allow for slower shutter speeds when you want to record objects in motion. ND filters are a must have tool for filmmakers as well. The ND Filter also lets you use high speed films in bright light, in case you haven't gone digital yet.
The Filter Factor is 2x - reduces the light one f/stop.
