Review Summary

The product is absolutely amazing and has worked great for me! If I had to say one con of this product I would say that this product is simple. Not a bad thing, but it limits some of the features on the camera that can be found on other products still a great product and I definitely recommend to beginners and intermediate photographers

Great camera so far, for someone new to photography and doing this as a side hobby, I would highly recommend. Not sure why some reviews are poor regarding quality and overheating, it has yet to get hot, or show issues, the quality is great and if you know how to use settings and the camera in general you'll get awesome photos. My only complaint is the lack of information (or hard to find) lense accessories, but other than that the camera does its job!

This is a really nice camera, and if I was unaware that I bought a refurbished one, I would not be able to tell is wasn't brand new. I looks and operates great. Very happy with my purchase.

Gosh, I wish I could say so many great things about this camera, it's a good starter camera but you really cannot take photos for more that 20 min at a time without it overheating, it drains my batteries it shuts down. I called canon & they say they have no idea about that being a problem which I find funny since it's all over the internet for videos but I don't use it for videos and it still overheats, AND a friend who has the same model, hers also overheats too, so now I have a fun $600 paperweight, invest in a better camera so you're not out the money like I am

I received the camera about a month ago and so far my iPhone 14 ProMax is taking much better pictures than this Canon. Since I missed the return window, I'm stuck with it.

It's a great beginner friendly kit lens, you're able to learn the basics and figure out what works for you.

This was the easiest purchase we have made for this type of equipment. This was by far the best deal for a package with camera, accessories, software, etc. The shipping was a little off as the package came in 3 or 4 different boxes, but it all arrived eventually, with updates and it is high quality. I will only use Adorama moving forward!!

The R50 is packed with basically everything one could need. The R50 has really good autofocus, extremely good quality, a good sensor, and is incredibly easy to use. The only drawbacks I know of with the R50 is its rolling shutter (only noticeable when panning), its sub-par lens selection and lack of stabilization. If the R50 had a better electronic shutter and more lenses this would be far and away the best value on the market but nonetheless is still one of the best if not the best cameras for people who aren't like paid to shoot weddings.

This is a very compact camera and lens combo and very ideal if you need something lightweight and discreet to shoot with. I bought this for my wife as a beginner and upgrade from a T6 and it was easy for her to use on our trip to Europe. The kit lens is very basic in the look and feel and we ended up using the RF 24-105 that I already had which made a huge difference, so keep your expectations in line with the kit lens as it is pretty limited. Purchasing a more capable lens either RF or RF-S is pretty much a necessity. The camera is very compact and performed well. My wife was easily able to fit it in her purse even with the RF 24-105 lens and using RF-S lenses will make the entire package even more compact. I read other reviews about the camera being too small and have to agree if you have average to larger size hands. This camera would not work for me size wise if I had to use it for an extended period of time. The battery did die quite quickly the first time it was heavily used which I attributed to the battery needing to have a few charge cycles before performing optimally. Other than that, this is an excellent choice for a beginner or someone on a tight budget but still wants a mirrorless camera, while also considering the compact size potentially being an issue.

I was looking for a lightweight yet capable camera for video and stills. The R50 has proven pretty handy for both purposes and is definitely a lot more lightweight than the other setups I have. The stills in particular have been impressive, with most pictures coming out sharp and detailed. It struggles with noise at higher ISO levels (3200+), but it has done the job when needed. I do find the viewfinder a little lackluster, but it's fine generally, just not as nice as some I have used. As for video, with a little more practice I'll be plenty happy with the results. My main problem with video capture has been the autofocus in some way or another. It's great generally, but it's acted up a few times and I missed my shot because of it.

This is the BMW of small intermediate cameras offered by Canon. Fabulous performance and well-built. This is my third R50. I travel for a living and keep an extra R50 with me. The downside is the KIT LENS that is included with the R50. They are entry level. You will probably want to upgrade to a better lens. The R50 is worth every dime Canon charges for it. You will be very pleased.

I really appreciate the value of the Canon refurbished kit. Everything arrived quickly and so far it appears just "like new" and appears to be operating normally. This is my first camera purchase in over a decade (I am a prior point and shoot only photographer) - I am really looking forward to using and learning with this Canon R50. I intend to mainly photograph landscapes/outdoors as I travel.

I am really enjoying the camera and lenses. The photo quality has been very good for my purposes. The images are clear. There is a learning curve involved with buying any new camera but this upgrade has been a good one. The camera is clearly more capable than I am at this point and is offering me an opportunity to practice my skills. I can't give a detailed analysis or comparison of the camera compared to others because I'm a hobby/amateur photographer and my other cameras are a 15 year old Fujifilm and 18 year old Canon. I generally shoot still shots and haven't experimented with the video functions much. The camera body is tiny and I wear extra large gloves which means I had to adjust to a finger tip and thumb tip grip but I always have the camera on a wrist strap or neck strap so my arthritic hands don't drop it. I did buy a camera cage designed specifically for the EOS R50 which gives me more points to attach handles and straps. The camera is so light the cage seems to have doubled it's weight. I would recommend the camera especially for someone looking for a lightweight, small camera that want great photos while they travel and explore.

I'm really enjoying the camera and lenses. I'm strictly an amateur hobby photographer. My last camera purchase was 15 years ago so I can't offer any useful comparisons. What I can say is that the camera and lenses do a very nice job for my purposes. If you have large hands you will find the camera offers only a fingertip and thumb tip grip. I ordered a cage and side handle to go with the camera to give me something more to grip. I always have the camera on a wrist or shoulder strap so I don't drop it. I'm in the early stages of arthritis and know enough to not trust my grip on things. The camera and lenses are very lightweight and compact which is what I was hoping for. The photo quality has been very good. I didn't expect the "extras" to be of any high quality but did think they would be usable. If I had the opportunity to make the purchase without the extra package and save some money I would do it based on what I know now. The tripod supplied with the package is made of sturdy materials and at first glance seemed like a great addition. We were at a park taking photos of the sunset across a lake and I decided to give the tripod a test run rather than carry my full size tripod to the picnic table. The tripod is strong enough to hold up the camera but the legs of the tripod have an elastic tendency to want to draw themselves back in which means the camera is slowly and constantly being moved off kilter while the tripod tries to go back to it's usual shape. The second problem is the external microphone that came with the kit does not work with the camera. The first few short test videos I shot had nothing but a white noise hiss for sound. When I went into the camera settings to switch from auto to manual mode for the audio controls the camera informed me the microphone is not compatible. In short the microphone is useless to me. The backpack that came with the kit seems to be well built mostly. Some of the padding was more flexible than I had hoped. I spent about an hour trying to fit the camera and accessories into the pack and just didn't like the fit and the gear didn't feel as protected as I would have liked. I finally gave up on downsizing to the smaller pack. I packed my old camera and unused gear into the backpack and put the new camera in my 15 year old backpack. The cleaning kit is fairly generic. The first time I used the brush to sweep a fleck of dust off my lens the brush left an oily mess all over the glass. Fortunately the cleaning solution and microfiber cloth was able to get the oily substance off the lens. I'm not even going to waste time trying to clean that brush out. The air blower works well enough until I can find a decent brush. There has been a learning curve with the camera but I'm enjoying it. I would recommend the camera and lenses but wouldn't bother with the package added to it and would advise just deciding on what your needs are and ordering the accessories on your own.

Very happy with this purchase. Camera is everything I expected. I've already ordered a couple extra lenses. The first few pictures I've taken are so clean and crisp. I will and have ordered from Adorama again. Fast shipping and packaged very well.

This camera overheats instantly and is unusable. The screen freezes and then the whole video is rubbish because the camera has to be turned on and off and the battery flap has to be opened. Do not purchase this camera, I heavily regret doing so not sure if my next camera purchase will be with Canon. I have very disappointed.

Great performance from a small package! Subject detection and eye tracking has been a game changer for me (coming from a DSLR) Low noise even when the ISO needs to be high. I have no complaints other than that the buttons were a little smaller than what I was expecting. Would definitely buy again! I use the 18-45mm kit, the 50mm prime 1.8, and the 100-400 (all RF Lenses)

My first mirrorless camera. I wanted one so I could have some exposure preview in the viewfinder. A couple of things that I have not seen highlighted much in reviews... I'm really pleased with the programable control ring on the lens, which enables me to notice a need to tweak the exposure and do it without taking my eye away from the viewer. I am also really happy to have discovered the ability to pick focus points on the touch screen even when it is off and I am using the viewfinder. I bought the EF to RF converter and my lenses seem to work very well. Getting a good photo requires proper exposure and focus and this camera makes it easy to do both fairly intuitively so I can concentrate on the other creative aspects. The small, light size will make the camera easy to tote. The kit lens is nice in its range.
