Shopper : we are looking into buying this machine but want to know, as they are updating and making new bills, does this machine read those new bills automatically or would it need to be updated?MARTIN J : The only ways to find out would be to ask the manufacturer or to test it yourself.MARK B : This machine only counts the number of bills, not the total value of mixed bills counted. You must tell it what you are counting for it to total the bills (i.e., If you tell it you are counting $5 bills and there are 20, it will tell you the total is $100. Whoopee. If there is a $20 mixed in with the $5's, it will count it as a $5 because it doesn't know). It does test for counterfeits, but it has never rejected a bill, even the new $100's, and neither has the bank. If you want to put in a mix of bills and get the total value of the stack like the machines they have at the bank, you will need to spend about 15x the amount of this unit. I have one of these and 2 RS units costing about the same. They all get a lot of use. I like this one because it is quieter, but it has a much shorter warranty.
