Review Summary
The Canon REALiS SX6000 D is a high-performance SXGA+ (1400 x 1050) resolution installation multimedia projector employing Canon's AISYS-enhanced LCOS technology and RS-IL01ST standard zoom lens to deliver spectacularly clear and rich images. This model also offers 6000 lumens of brightness, ease of installation and maintenance and powered lens shift which can be operated in both vertical and horizontal directions. A wired remote option allows the remote use of the REALiS SX6000 D in situations where obstacles block a direct line of sight between the operator and projector.
The REALiS SX6000 D features a DICOM Simulation Mode which allows for the viewing of monochrome digital X-Rays, CAT Scans and MRI's with accurate grayscale rendition and precise detail. This special mode ensures accuracy and consistency in compliance with the Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) Part 14 standard, making it the ideal large venue projector for those in the medical education and training fields.
Other features of this high-resolution projector include an HDMI terminal (version 1.3 Deep Color) for projection of high-quality digital images and uncompressed 1080p video, as well as a built-in network connection (RJ-45) for remote network operation. The projector's expanded color space and advanced optics mean that the 6000 lumens of the REALiS SX6000 deliver razor-sharp, brilliant results, without the need to 'over specify' the lumens required to compensate for loss in brightness typically associated with wide or long throw lenses. Greater eco-efficiency has also been achieved with the REALiS SX6000 D, which consumes a class-leading 0.0725 W/lm.
The REALiS SX6000 D is the perfect choice for installations in medical educational, corporate or museum settings in which the greatest level of detail and contrast in images must be seen and offers outstanding performance in the reproduction of 4:3 aspect ratio high resolution images. With no organic polarizing element in the new AISYS 4.1 Optical Engine, the REALiS SX6000 D is also suitable to run for extended periods as might be required.
Native Widescreen SXGA+ Resolution (1400 x 1050)
It brings true reproduction of content from 4:3 ratio sources in high-resolution SXGA+. The fine detail delivers clarity to the furthest seat in a boardroom, conference room or lecture hall. Every element of an X-ray, CAT scan or MRI displayed can be viewed with precise detail. Compared to XGA projectors, the REALiS SX6000 D's SXGA+ resolution shows a significantly larger display area, delivering razor-sharp precision in projected images. This model allows the display of 1400x1050 or 1280x1084 content without compression, showing the true proportions of the source image on the screen just as it appears on your computer monitor.
AISYS-Enhanced LCOS Technology
The REALiS SX6000 D incorporates Canon's latest developments in AISYS (Aspectual Illumination System) Optical System with AISYS 4.1 and a new LCOS panel. They come together to deliver brilliant, ultra-sharp images in almost any environment. LCOS (Liquid Crystal On Silicon) has brought higher resolution images without flickering or the "screen door" effect, quicker image response in showing moving images, smooth rendition of fine lines and seamless photo reproduction. Additional benefits are the sharp display of small text and crisper blacks. The REALiS SX6000 D features a new LCOS panel which also delivers improvements in aperture ratio, now at 96% for smoother fine detail. It also brings more accurate white balance with improved neutrality. For situations in which long periods of continuous projection are required, such as surveillance or show display, the new panel offers greater durability and reliability thanks to excellent burn-in resistance. Up to 100 hours or more of constant display is possible with no burn-in visible. It takes the capability of LCOS technology to the next level by combining it with enhanced 4th generation AISYS Optical Engine. Canon-patented optical light technology achieves high brightness and contrast within a very small footprint. AISYS has three components: the illumination system; the color separation and recombination system; and the LCOS panels. Only Canon's innovative, breakthrough AISYS technology achieves the right balance of contrast, brightness and compact size to maximize the performance of LCOS. Brighter, truer color comes from the AC lamp system of the REALiS SX6000 D and the AISYS Optical Engine.
DICOM Simulation Mode
The REALiS SX6000 D features a DICOM Simulation image mode setting that allows the projector to simulate medical imaging in compliance with the Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) Part 14 standardized display function for display of grayscale images. Images such as X-rays, CAT scans and MRIs that are typically displayed on DICOM compliant monitors can now be simulated via large projected images by the REALiS SX6000 D. This new feature is recommended for use in medical schools for training and educational use only and not for diagnostic purposes. The 4:3 aspect ratio of the REALiS SX6000 D is especially suited for use in medical educational environments.
6000 lumens with a 1000:1 Contrast Ratio
The REALiS SX6000 D projects an impressive 6000 lumens, delivering incredible image quality and brightness. The 1000:1 contrast ratio ensures deep blacks and bright whites. Pure, high contrast color reproduction creates images with crisp depth and dimension, ideally suited for conveying texture. Color remains crisp, with superior color balance, perfect for presenting high-quality visuals. Best of all, this brilliance comes with outstanding eco-performance. The REALiS SX6000 D is rated at 435W, delivering an industry leading 6000 lumens while consuming only 0.0725 W/lm.
Motorized Lens Shift
The lens shift capability of all three lenses ably assists in allowing maximum flexibility for a wide variety of installation situations. The range of adjustment for the standard zoom lens (RS-IL01ST) down 12% - up 50%, left 10% - right 10%. You can be virtually assured that the REALiS SX6000 D can be optimally placed and since lens shift doesn't degrade the image the way digital keystone correction can, the extraordinary quality of your projected images is not compromised.
Ease of Installation and Maintenance
The design of the location of the consumable parts enhances both flexibility in mounting and ease of maintenance. The projector's lamp and filter can be replaced from the back and side without dismounting the projector. The direct power on/off feature of the REALiS SX6000 D allows for more flexible installation on ceilings or walls. It will automatically turn on the projector when the power cord is plugged into an outlet and off when the plug is removed. There is no need to press the power button on the projector, which might be difficult in certain installation situations.
Advanced Color Enhancement System
Like all REALiS Projectors, the REALiS SX6000 D includes Canon's high-accuracy color controls, which ensure accurate color reproduction and compensate for color variances due to lighting differences. High brightness and contrast produce rich, detailed gradations even in the shadowed portions of images - recreating depth and dimension with stunning drama and REALiSm. The REALiS SX6000 D features a color processing algorithm, along with a highly accurate 3D LUT (Look Up Table). Conventional systems shift neighboring colors along with the selected color, often resulting in an imbalance in the image. The REALiS SX6000 D allows precise color correction.
6-Axis Color Adjustment
Your projection screen is your canvas with the REALiS SX6000 D's unparalleled color control. An easy-to-use Graphical User Interface lets you adjust your palette of colors to paint the picture you want for your audience. The REALiS SX6000 D's 6-Axis Color Adjustment lets you fine-tune the hue, saturation and brightness of each of the primary and secondary colors. This high degree of control allows each image to be displayed exactly as intended.

Ease of Use and Flexible Settings
The design of the location of the consumable parts enhances both flexibility in mounting and ease of maintenance. The projector's lamp and filter can be replaced from the back and side, eliminating the need to dismount the projector in order to perform maintenance.
Advanced Image Quality Adjustments
Screen Color Correction can fine-tune the colors of the image based on a variation of screen color. Adjustments can be made from Normal, Non-white board and Adjust settings. Non-white board is your setting choice for Greenboard and other dark surfaces, while Adjust will allow the user to make detailed RGB adjustments in the projected image as desired on any surface. When you are projecting moving images in high ambient light, the REALiS SX6000 D can employ a Dynamic Gamma function to heighten contrast. It automatically brings up the bright areas and pushes down the dark so shadow details can be seen more clearly. This function operates at your choice, so if the original image is acceptable, there is no need to employ Dynamic Gamma.
