Questions & Answers

DERRICK L : I have a Canon 6d and Canon 600ex-rt flash. Do I need to purchase additional attachments to mount the camera and the flash? If so, which flash mount puts the flash directly over the camera? Thanks much.DAVID B : If you get the Digital Pro M kit it will come with the three pieces you need to fit Canon and Nikon cameras - the camera mounting bracket, the flash mounting plate, and a quick release plate. You will need to use a cable from the camera to the flash for communication. With the Pro M model, the flash will be directly over the lens. I've had my bracket for about a year now and use it at every event.GRAHAM B : I have a Nikon D600 and Nikon Speedlight. The bracket comes with all necessary fittings for this camera and flash.ANDY L : Well, all you need is the Canon hot shone cable to connected the camera body and the flash unit
Frank M : I have a Nikon D7000 with the battery grip, and the Sb950. Will this bracket accomodate the height of the Nikon d7000 with the battery grip and the TTL device on top?MANFRED S : I have a D7000 and a D800e/. I don't have the battery packs. I'm sure thou that tis would be ok. I love the unit. I don't go anywhere without it. Landscapes, food photos, portraits. macro, etc. It's pricey but worth it.JOHN K : I had a PW MiniTT1 and AC3 Zone Controller on top of my D700 (not s D7000) without a grip, and there was very little clearance when the camera was rotated to the vertical position. I don't think it would have worked if the D700 had an optional grip. The folks at Custom Brackets were quite helpful when I had questions, so you're probably better off asking them directly. The Adorama policy, for obvious reasons, doesn't permit us to recommend products that they don't sell. With that in mind, I can only say that the Digital PRO M was returned for different reasons, and I eventually stumbled upon an alternate bracket that was a better fit for my needs. YMMV.BILL I : I have a Canon 7d without battery battery grip. However, there are 8 inches between the bottom of the bracket (where you screw in the camera) and the top of the flash attachment arm (where you attach the flash). For the Canon it allows for sufficient height to help disperse the flash and to allow for the camera to swing from horizontal to vertical. The switching between horizontal and vertical while keeping the flash above the camera is my favorite feature.
JORGE A : I'd like to use a pocket wizzard on the camera and a strobe on the extension. Will that work?TONY R : Jorge, I have used a flash extension cable directly from the camera hot shoe to the flash. The base of the cord-to-flash connection can be attached with a standard screw and the cable wound out of the way so the camera can be rotated 90deg. This provides the same connection as mounting on the camera, with full iTTL or eTTL control. I have also use the pocket wizard flex tt5 and ttl combination for wireless radio control and it works very well too...just need to carry more hardware and batteries. The standard PW plus and multimax would work the same as long as they clear the antenna. The CB Pro M is very solid, well-made system. Best of luck shootingSENNEH O : It should, as long as the pocket wizard is one of the new FlexsTT5 or mini, as there wouldn't be room for a Plus II to sit in the hotshoe under the flash arm. They don't show it in the photo, but you will also have the cord running from the camera plug to the shotshoe mount.BRUCE L : I believe so.lawrence e : I did try it with the Pocket Wizard in it did work but it starts to get a little too heavy so I just went back to the cordJOHN K : I put a MiniTT1 with an AC3 in the hotshoe of a Nikon D700, and then put a FlexTT5/SB800 on the bracket. I didn't experience any problems rotating the camera, although the FlexTT5 adds quite a bit of weight that's well above the center of gravity. It was functional, but too unstable for my liking..ANDREW R : That would depend on the model pocket wizard you're using. It is possible that a pocket wizard mounted on the camera's hotshoe will interfere with rotation from horizontal (landscape) to vertical (portrait). Normally these units are used with a TTL extension cable for off shoe flash use (depending on the make/model camera and flash unit).

Review of Custom Bracket kit

The custom bracket kit is superb. With the kit you get everything you need to use the bracket including the camera mount and flash mount. It is a quality made bracket the works very smoothly! It is well worth the price!

Great Bracket!

I was hesitant on purchasing this bracket due to the high price. However, like all things photography-related, you get what you pay for. This is a very high quality, well made bracket. I was long overdue for the upgrade when I got my Canon Mark 3. This bracket is solid and rotates smoothly and quickly. I also like the feet that give it the ability to stand if needed. If you're looking for a high quality bracket, this is a great choice!

Worth every Penny

I was shooting very large convention here in Las Vegas and knew I had to work quickly, efficiently, and be ready at a moments notice. This bracket allowed me to accomplish this with ease style and FLEXIBILITY! I used to shoot casual events with off camera flash hand held which became cumbersome and tiring without a VAL. This bracket got the flash far enough off the camera and at the right "attitude" to accomplish this quickly without an assistant. The build quality is superb, it was carefully engineered and very easy to use. The only negative, if you will, was the price! It was not cheap! But after having used it i know that there is NOTHING better on the market. Highly recommended.

Custom Brackets Digital PRO M

Not intuitive to connect to the camera but once I had it installed it was easy to use and re-installation will not be a problem. Fairly expensive but definitely pro quality.

Good device for wedding photos

I do lots of wedding or party type photography and I do take lots of portriat type shots. To avoid shadows the flash needed to remain in the upright position. The device operates very smoothly and it well built. It is very expensive for what it does. I guess I have to eat veggies for few months. The enclosed instructions are very generic and useless. But one can put together the various pieces intuitively.

I have recommended this bracket to many.

I have a touch of arthritis, so the left handed grip really helps me support the camera. I feel secure knowing that my flash and camera are not going to end up crashing to the floor (as with less stable brackets.) The swivel/arc allows me to move from horizontal to vertical with great ease, and I especially like that the flash always remains in the same spot, above the camera lense. I love it and so do my colleagues.

I purchased this camera bracket to replace my worn out stroboframe. This bracket was made with quality materials and has a silky smooth operation. Pros:The flash height is adjustable. Which means, when not in use, you can lower it and store it easily. It has a "foot stand" to support the camera/bracket in an upright position. You can set your camera down without having to lay it down. It's pretty stable too. You can mount the bracket itself to a tripod or monopod. This will keep your camera height consistent regardless of whether or not you're shooting a landscape style shot or a portrait style image. No more adjusting the tripod after you've adjusted the camera orientation. Silky smooth operation.Very solid and professional look and feel to it. Oh, and did I mention the silky smooth operation?!Quick release plates for camera to bracket and bracket to tripod. I had to order the quick release plate for camera to bracket separately though. Now the cons...The price. I did a lot of researching and checked out all the reviews that I could find on this. Although this bracket is probably one of the best you'll find on the market today, it's priced VERY high for what it actually is. I really think the MSRP could have been about half of what they've marked it at and they probably would have made a bigger profit in the long run. But you get what you pay for and if you want a quality, no "herky jerky" movement smooth as silk camera bracket, this is the one. Because of the price tag, I'm finding myself using this more than I did my old stroboframe. The palm grip. This was a thoughtful idea. They put this padded "grip" below the camera lens so that you could support your camera and bracket with your left hand while working the controls of the camera with your right. It works well. It's does provide a better place to support the whole system from. The only problem is that with it there, you can't reach your lens to adjust zoom or focus! My fingers aren't short by any means. I have average sized hands. With this in place, my fingertips can reach the lens and that's about it. Great idea, really. Just poorly placed. I had to take the palm grip off of mine so that I could use the bracket! If it wasn’t' removable, I would have returned the bracket just because of that. If you can't reach your lens, the bracket is useless regardless of how nice it is. Fortunately, for everyone, it's removable. In conclusion, if you're looking for a bracket you can use all day that's built like a tank, operates silky smoothly, looks very professional, consider this one. It's no doubt too expensive for a camera bracket. But again, if you want the top of the line Cadillac of camera brackets this is your bracket. You'll be eating beans and rice for a few months so that you can save the money needed to pay for it.I have no regrets in this purchase and would highly recommend it.[...]Top notch stuff, and it better be for the price.
