I got a $40 light as a gift for someone and upon opening it does not work properly.I started a refund request days ago and it saysnunder review and if "accepted" a return label will be sent well,I havent recieved a label and just tried calling...the message said call during normal hours mon-fri 8 to 5 and guess what?its monday nearly 10 a.m! Wth.I need the label and have waited long enough for it.Im not real happy with anything to do with the product or company at this point!

I had previously purchased A9R rechargeable pen flashlights and had problems with the switches. I placed a warranty claim for replacement parts for 2 lights. I was surprised to see that Coast replaced the entire A9R lights with a new redesigned model. The new model is incredible. The original was my favorite inspection light for work, but this re-engineered version takes this pen light to a new level. Better components and design all around. Likely the best in the industry. Thanks so much Coast!

Bought it like 4 years ago, had it drooped many times and only a few minor scratches. Only was the pushbutton that was teared appart. Got it replaced on warranty in 1 week. Great light and so nice not to have to replace batteries since its rechargeable via usb

I have owned this little light for several years and use it all the time. Most work is machinist type work but I have used it on the farm as well as hunting! I recently noticed a crack in the green plastic part on the end and contacted the service department to see if I could buy a replacement plastic part. To my surprise, they honored a full replacement of the light without hesitation. I'm sold for life. Great product and customer service! Thanks guys and gals!!

The first A9R I got I had to warranty almost instantly, it just wouldn't charge. Coast sent me a new one and all seemed good. Less than a year later the replacement has pretty much failed. The internal battery doesn't stay threaded into the outer shell, same with the bulb cover. The light rarely works except if it's fully charged, and the on/off rubber button has sheared off. Overall not pleased with this light, it just seems flimsy and unreliable. Giving a second star since coast warrantied the first one.

A9R is a small but handy penlight. It fits in your pocket and other places you just can't get a large light in. It's not super bright but what do you expect for a light of this size. I use it not daily but it comes in handy for things around the house

The COAST A9R is the perfect penlight for everyday use. Its durability, extremely lightweight design, and sleek appearance make it an awesome pocket fit, barely (correction: not) noticeable until you need it! Great clip, I keep it in my pocket all day and don't have to worry about it falling out. However, one of the aspects that hold it back from a perfect score is the beam's sharpness. Good, but not great. I have noticed that about 85% of the light is the battery and the actual light module is very very small so it makes sense that the light isn't super powerful. The light does not have an amazing battery life, but it makes up for it by how quick and easy it is to charge. About the charging method, I like the idea, plugs right into the front of the light and you don't have to worry about any kind of jack. The pins could be a little more pronounced. Sometimes if the flashlight isn't clean, charging may stop and the LED indicator might give false readings. Nonetheless, it remains an indispensable tool. Other notes: - The button is susceptible to being pressed. Meaning it's super easy to turn the light on but it may be accidentally turned on if thrown in a purse or backpack. - Extremely easy to clean: you could spray Windex or other cleaner on a rag and wipe the light clean. - Fits in the hand well. You can hold the light like a pencil and the clip prevents it from slipping out. Overall, I certainly recommend this product, especially if you can find it on sale or use Crew cash. This is a great pocket/inspection light. I use it daily with repairs and inspections. The light is slim, the metal body allows for it to take a little damage without fuss. The only issue with this light is the charging portion. It can be tricky for it to take a charge. The connections sometimes wear out which can also cause the light to not always turn on. Do not let that stop you from buying this light though, it will last years before you see issues and coast warrantied it for me without hassle. This is my go to light and I'm very happy with it.

This is the best inspection light I have ever used. Its size makes it possible to carry in your shirt pocket and the light output is enough to see deep behind a jumble of wires and not get flash back from too bright a light. But the one thing that I highly recommend is the Coast Product warranty. They have been exceptional to work with on any issue I have had with any of my lights or batteries. This is a company that backs up its products with service and a great warranty.
