I bought this flashlight outright exactly 5 years ago. Previously I used the PX45 (no longer available) which was great but this one is even better. I'm a pro handyman and use my flashlight virtually every single day, even at home or when I travel. It stays with me everywhere. After 5 years, I can't think of a single thing I would want changed. It's beautiful, smooth, durable, rechargeable (original battery still holds a full charge), has a comfortable rounded bottom with a slider to allow it to stand on it's own for hands-free use, and that super smooth beam of light is OUTSTANDING for adding light for photography! Quite often I have to take photos of my work, or even flowers or items I sell online, and phone camera flash is never good, so when I need better light, this one does an incredible job! I thought I lost mine so I bought a second one, but luckily I found it but I will keep the second as a backup. I can't imagine ever buying a better flashlight for my specific needs.

Just amazing customer service and warranty of coast is the best. My flashlight was dying flickering, button misfires, and this is heavy use from my work. Thrown, got oil spilled on, got ranover by a tire, rained on. Still stood strong until it died. It took bit over 5 years on heavy usage to finally meet the end. Contacted Coast, paid shipping and boom. Off the road to another hopefully 5 or more years with this fantastic light. The welcome package is awesome as well. I love coast product. And will only use you guys, many thanks.

Just got my new Coast A25R flashlight. Looks like it's really well made, works great and comes with a lifetime warranty! The beam is INCREDIBLY bright with an adjustable focus, two rechargeable lithium battery packs and one alkaline pack. I charged the battery packs over 5 months ago, stored them as a backup and they're still working strong! Customer service was quick and extremely efficient and I highly recommend the Coast brand. Great product and you can't go wrong with a lifetime warranty.

By far the best flashlight I have in my bag. Takes a beating and keeps shining. Will buy another soon.

This is a beautifully made stainless steel flashlight that has some weight to it. It has the switch in the back that turns on high then off then low then off again. If you pause for a few seconds it turns on high each time. The front slides to adjust the focus of the beam and locks in place with a twist. There is a sleeve behind the red band that turns then slides back to provide access to a charging port with a LED indicator. If you bend the lanyard ring over a bit you can use this sleeve to sit the light vertically. COAST has been my go to after buying eight headlamps at the store and the only one I like said COAST on the side.

I use this light around the house and when camping. It's fantastic for power outages, it will light up a whole room. The AAA carriage is great for when you need more battery then the rechargeable packs can handle on long trips.

Great functionality. However, this is a warranty replacement and sadly, it's giving me the same issues as my last flashlight. Gets quite warm, then dims out and shuts off

Flashlight is very bright and nice with two rechargeable batteries and another option that takes tripple As. Use for work as a aircaft mechanic and a good flashlight is a must.

I got this new AR25 as a replacement after my old AR25 battery stop charging. Thanks to Coast great warranty. I noticed that the battery has a new model number. In the bright mode it is very bright but also very very hot and one should be careful.

I use this flashlight for my work and it is a good flashlight the only problem that I have had with it is that the rechargeable batteries do not stay charged as long as they are advertised to stay charged. Other than that I haven?t had a single problem with it an think it?s a great flashlight.

Between my Surge Leatherman & Coast A25R light. That I carry every day and use every day and own 5 of them, and bought 20 plus for family members, all I can say is it?s an amazing light Thank God they don?t add strobe it?s a worthless feature for a carry light The rechargeable battery packs are amazing & last long enough, whether you?re charging inside the light or outside. The Heavy light switch is great when you have gloves on, also when it?s in the sheath you don?t accidentally turn it on. I love the stainless steel body it?s easy to clean and disinfect. The light is pretty much waterproof. When you have to feed cattle/sheep/goats/dogs everyday this is the go to light. I can say with a certainty that I?ve used this light more than any other customer, checking irrigation lines. Fixing tractors/ and bailing I love it. Only had to warranty one of these lights. Due to a manufacturing issue. They are the easiest company to work with. And they stand behind their warranty. I have one duck taped to my shotgun, when I go bunny blasting or predator hunting. This light, lights up my world. While making this review I bought another one for my dad cause he wants a back up on a back up for his truck lol.

I have owned the A25R flashlight for many years. After many years of abuse it stopped working. I contacted Coast Portland and they replaced the flashlight with a complete flashlight package.

Full Disclosure: Coast provided me this A25r in order for me to test it out. But, everything I will talk about here is my own opinion. Coast Portland was not given copy approval nor any editorial input in this review. That means, they're reading this review for the first time along side you. These are the topics I will cover. Skip to whatever corresponding number in order to read about that specific topic. 1) What I Don't Like 2) What I Like 3) Why I'd Recommend The XP11r Instead 4) Build Quality/Overview 5) Weight 6) Operation and Modes 7) Charging Port 8) Battery and Charging 9) Charge Time/Battery Satistics 10) Final Thoughts __________________________________ The Individual Topics Begin Here: __________________________________ 1) What I Don't Like: ? I dislike the battery system. It uses a large proprietary battery with not a lot of capacity ? It is an older light and I just think newer lights are much better in several ways ? I wish it had more than only two modes ? The use of a Micro-USB charging port instead of a USB-C port ? Recharge time is very long ? You cannot tail stand the light ? The button is not the greatest. Much better than most, but it sticks and scrapes against the casing ? It is slippery with wet hands ? The lanyard attachment ring gets in the way of the sliding charging port cover. I would suggest removing the attachment rung ________________________________ 2) What I like: ? I love the look of the stainless steel finnish. It is very sleek ? It is quite heafty which adds to its overall quality ? It is equipped with Coast's Pure Beam Focusing Optic ________________________________ 3) Why I'd Recommend The XP11r Instead: ? The XP11r is nearly identical in size to the A25r ? It has a battery level indicator ? A better button ? 4 modes instead of 2 ? A max output of 2100 lumens compared to only 1000 lumens ? A USB-C port built into the light instead of the older Micro-USB ? Can also run on three AAA alkiline batteries via the included adaptor like the A25r ? The XP11r can run for an extra hour on high (1000 Lumens) __________________________________ 4) Build Quality/Overview: ? The light feels very premium. It is much heavier than you'd expect ? It is made of stainless steel and is smooth with no knurling making it easy to whipe clean ? The tail cap unscrews in two stages. If you rotate it counterclockwise by a quarter turn and pull, the exterior stainless steel casing slides up with a click exposing a red anodized portion containing a Micro-USB charging port and a charging indicator. You can continue to unscrew to remove the tail cap to gain access to the battery ? The button is a medium travel, mushy, high positive tactile button with a stainless steel button __________________________________ 5) Weight: ? 11.04 oz (313 grams). That's about the weight of 55 United States Quarters __________________________________ 6) Opperation and Modes: ? The operation of the light is controlled by one button on the tail cap ? It only has a high and low mode ? Lightly press for high at 1000 lumens. Let go and lightly press again for low at 115 lumens. Fully press at desired brightness to select and remain on ? There is a momentary on mode __________________________________ 7) Charging Port: ? Micro-USB built into light ? Micro-USB built into battery __________________________________ 8) Battery and Charging: ? The light uses a Coast proprietary ZX750 battery. It can also run on (3) alkaline AAA batteries via the included adaptor ? The battery can be charged outside or inside the light via Micro-USB ? A solid red light, on either the light or battery, indicates charging and a solid green light indicates the battery is fully charged __________________________________ 9) Charge Time/Battery Satistics: ? The battery was tested from completely dead ? No difference in charge time/speed when changing inside or outside the light Rated Capacity: 2400 mah Tested Capacity: 2581 mah Charge Speed: Maximum | 587 mah Time: 5 hours 4 minutes ________________________________ 10) Final Thoughts: Overall, it is a high quality light. A step up from the traditional aluminum build, It looks classy and sleek. Not to mention the steel body will hold up better than aluminum In any impact or rough use cases. Although, it does scratch a bit easily. It is a good light, but I'd still recommend getting the much better XP11r. Not to say the A25r is bad; it's just that it's an old light and in need of a refresh. Although, scarce in its included accsories, the XP11r's $60 cheaper price tag does reflect that. Sized nearly identically, with output doubling that of the A25r, packing the latest technology, and equipped with every bell and whistle, the XP11r is a light with attributes galore and is simply superior in every regard. Truthfully, I wish Coast would make a stainless steel variant of the XP11r as I believe it is the perfect successor to the A25r. The use of stainless steel might even allow for the XP11r to gain a bit of a performance increase in the form of higher brightness or longer sustained output on turbo. The XP11r, I believe, is the current pinnacle of flashlights offered by Coast and is a seriously good flashlight.

I was looking for something different and love a edc light especially a 1000 lumen edc well i came across the A25r and the pictures looked great and i looked at the dimensions and said why not and upon arrival i personally feel it is a bit larger than I'd like for what i intended to use it for but none the less its a sharp light and id only change one thing and that would be the tail cap as it will not stand up sturdily oh well i have other coasts that will do that .... i do recommend it as a quality product

Very nice light, but I actually like the SX300R better. It is brighter in a side by side test outside and has other functions to boot.

Work on diesel trucks in the northwest. Love the light. Works when dropped in coolant bin or gallons of oil. Have been hard on this light. already replaced once for free, only concerns I have are the rechargeable packs and the focus. The plastic on the packs always crack, break at USB port. Still works though. Like the gold leads. And the focus change in the front of the flashlight would be great if it stayed in one position when dropped or hit. Had old one replaced because of dents in body of...

I saw this flashlight in email that I receive periodically from Coast. It was on special so I bought 6, one for everyone that works for me(including myself). Extremely bright, tough (I’ve already dropped mine several times) Very good looking light. I prefer the on/off function. I hate flashlights with the high/low blinking and different colors. I work with my lights, not play. The rechargeable battery lasts a long time. I still haven’t run it down. While it’s charging you have the regular ba...

Easy to clean and built to last, the stainless steel Coast A25R Rechargeable Focusing LED Flashlight is designed especially for automotive technicians and other professional users who demand flawless performance from their tools. The Flex Charge Dual Power system allows you to charge using AC, DC or USB power sources. It also includes an alkaline battery pack that allows you to continue using your light, even without access to charging power.
