Coast HL8R Rechargeable Pure Beam Focusing Headlamp, 800 Lumens, 702' Beam

My HL8R headlamp is an older version. I got it in 2023. It produces 800 lumens. For my needs which is mostly construction, it is plenty bright enough. This winter I have been using it a lot and would be lost without it. I use it about 4 hours continuously several times a week. Recharge the battery when I get home and I'm ready to go again.

We bought this a year ago, it was 80$ and came with a rechargable lithium as well as double AA battery pack, plus charger. The new version is now normally 160$, but we got it on sale for 80$, and it does not come with the extra battery pack anymore. The new strap is less comfortable but maybe will stretch out with time? Not a fan of the random nub on the side of the light which I presume they added to make it easier to turn but kind of just sticks out in the way. Overall disappointed with the new version of this light.

Coast sent me a replacement that happened to be an upgraded model of the HL8R that had malfunctioned and the battery pack burnt my head when I was at work. The upgraded model is far more superior to the older version. I would definitely recommend this headlamp to anyone looking for a good light that is rechargeable. The battery pack holds a good charge for quite a long time. More than I expected. Thank you, Coast for producing and backing a great product

I bought the HL8 probably 6 years ago at least. It quit working at one point and they repaired it probably 2 years ago no questions asked worked great for the last 2 years. Then this year the head bands wore out wouldn't fit anymore told them about it and they sent the replacement parts. I'm sold on their headlamps will be buying for the employees of the company. Great product. Great customer service

Great product love the adjustability of the brightness of the light. Has along cable so you can attach the battery pack to a belt or backpack. Highly recommended if you want a light light.

Great light, not cool they do not have extra batteries available. On site it says additional batteries will work, they don't. I had to return extras. They will not sell me extras either.

A recent opportunity to test the headlamp function went well. I purchased mainly for extending my outdoor chores "daylight". The focused beam provided excellent lighting at 5-8 feet ahead. I am anticipating the outdoor flood light function for more general lighting when needed to be equally helpful. Rechargeable battery is a big advantage, will monitor the run time as I go. I plan to test the headlamp for indoor applications when the task dictates.

I have used this headlamp for the last 10 plus years. The only issue i have is that the battery clips that hold it on the back fail. I am positive they will eventually find a fix for this .With that said coast still gets a 5 star rating from me. The life time warranty is no joke. They have approved all 4 warranties on this light with no questions asked. The customer service is awesome. I have called to order replacement head bands. I told them I was going to pay but would not take payment and sent 2 of them free of charge. Coast will be the only company I will use to light the dark for me and my family. Thank you coast for a great product and awesome customer service which we all know is hard to find these days.

I have owned this headlamp a long time now, Perhaps 5-6 years? It gets constant use and i absolutely love it! The lighting is very bright, the battery lasts very long (several hours at medium) the beam point location is easy to adjust, as is the beam width, and it stays on my head crawling around in all places at odd angles! It is worth paying the higher price, as you are purchasing a really decent tool that is well made. I have owned it long enough now that I had to purchase a new elastic headband about a year ago. And I now just replace the 4400mA Hour Lithium Ion battery pack as the battery finally wore out (Would not hold a charge). I like it enough to do ongoing repairs rather than go out and purchase a new headlamp. The product is easy to keep in good repair as it is designed to be serviceable, a rarity in products in today's society! I can't think of one gripe I have for this product!

Just received this today. I ordered the bundle Package, so it came with the Alkaline Battery Pack, with batteries, two Rechargeable batteries, and all the necessary cables. This is now the best headlamp I own. Do yourself a favor, even if you think you don't need one, get one, TODAY!

I have the HL27 which is a great headlamp! I purchased the HL8R for one of my sons as a gift. He loves it! Quite a bit brighter than the HL27. Really lights up the night very nicely, a lot of light for a headlamp.

I would love to buy 4 dozen more Coast headlamps for my crew, but no longer being able to buy replacement headbands for our HL8Rs makes it impossible to trust Coast to support the products that it sells. Looks like we will be looking for a new vendor.

The light is amazing and bright and focus it perfectly unlike that new 15,000 lumen xp80r rechargeable light that when you focus it's almost comparable to the flood light on this headlamp. This headlamps flood light is big but when you put it on the spot beam it is very tight and not fuzzy around the edges. My absolutely only complaint with this headlamp is the headband which only lasts about a month and I've emailed them and asked why they haven't made the rubber version like on some of their other headlamps but they haven't made it yet. I got my wife a Coast headlamp last year that came with an extra rubber headband so I was able to get it to work with this headlamp with some zip ties to hold the power wires down and it looks terrible and hillbilly made but I no longer have to deal with the headband stretching out after a month of use. Would I buy another one of these probably not unless they change the headband. I would have bought my wife this exact light if they had changed the headband but they didn't so I went with one that was a rubber version and hers works perfect as does mine since I've switched the headband to the rubber version. I will continue to buy Coast products because they actually stand behind their warranties. I would go as far to say that they are comparable to vortex optics warranty! No questions asked and they go above and beyond the warranty issue and they are extremely fast at getting the item back to you!

This light is well made , bright and good long battery life, the battery pack can be clip to your belt or put in pocket if you feel its to heavy to keep on your head. It dose come with extension cord, very happy with this light. Only think i wish was a stronger is the strap itself it seems a little week to me as i'm working the light moves around on my head a bit.

I bought and used this headlight for fishing also at work too ,this is second headlight I bought, because this is very good quality product and life time warranty too. The first headlight I bought it was longtime ago (i don't remember when, but I think it bought before COVID like over 7 years I get ) this headlight still works good to now . I bought second for extra on hand Finally, Coast product is very good quality and lifetime warranty too , I recommend everyone who travels & sports hunting fishing hiking or working, it's very good for it Thank you Coast

I have used the HL8R headlamp for many years. My main use for this was in my auto repair business (I am now retired). I told everyone who would ask about my headlamp that it was a necessary tool and not just a luxury item. This headlamp has served me well for probably more than 10 years and probably longer. I would use it all day (when needed) in the garage and then plug it in at the end of the day and it was ready for me the following day. I would also use this light for carpentry work or really anything that would require the need for hands free working, when you need the extra light. The only real issue with this light was the headband would stretch out after a while, but given the fact that I wore this everyday, I am not complaining. I would highly recommend this headlamp for anyone who needs a quality light that will serve you well.
