Great for occasional use or home use
It's super bright. Great battery life considering how bright it gets. Unfortunately at work it doesn't hold up. I'm an automotive technician. At first I figured maybe I just got a bad one. Over the last few years I've gone through at least 8. None of them have made it a year. Most quit working within 6 months. This last one only made it 3 weeks. Some of them quit taking a charge. The others the switch quit working. The only one I haven't had issues with is the one I keep at home which doesn't get used that often.

HP3R flash light
I have carried this little light everywhere, and it is the best light for looking under cars, and in small places that a regular would be to cumbersome to use. Everybody loves it and wants to use it.
It has rubber ends that allow me to hold it in my teeth while using both hands.
I'd buy it again but it also has a lifetime warranty.

Gets hot, battery dies quickly
I like the brightness of the high setting, but the light gets hot and the battery dies way too quickly. I can't even use it as a mechanic for one day of work, it gets so dim! Doesn't last long on a full charge.

Great Product!
One of the best most reliable lights I have used. It helps me with weld inspection and seeing in those dark welding areas. This one was a replacement to my original that had a damaged lens. Customer service was fantastic and the shipment of the replacement was fast.

Great for mechanics.
Great light. Perfect for EDC or an inspection light. I'm a mechanic so the bite cap is a nice feature. My only complaint is after about a year the light starts to flicker, have to replace the rear section.

Replaced my flashlight
I had an older model that coast no longer has a replacement batt. For. I called and customer service was great, they sent me a new updated model so I can continue to use this great product!

Best mechanic pen light hands down
I couldn't even guess how many different small flashlights I've daily carried in my 30+ year career as a professional mechanic and none of them have even remotely lasted as long as my HP3R. My first one lasted around 8 years before it finally developed a charging issue and the fine folks at Coast replaced it for free. I can't recommend it enough, it is hands down the BEST pocket pen light on the market.

Reliable, long lasting, tough.
I bought this YEARS ago off one of our tool truck drivers (either matco or snap-on) I didn't even known they made them still. Used it a lot at work when wrenching on cars. Long story short after my dad passed away we closed the shop and most my tools just sit.. Years later I was looking in my tool box and saw this light. Was 100% dead, but I plugged it in and sure enough, it charged up perfectly. I use it at home in the back yard every night still. Nice and bright for how small it is.

Great light, but prefer old button function
This is a great pen light for work, and the customer service from Coast has been top notch. My original light's power switch failed, and Coast immediately sent me a brand new replacement...so...thanks very much for that! The new light seems to have a slight design change to the way the power switch operates, and I will admit that for my use, the original design was better. With the previous version, there was a "momentary" option such that a partial press of the button caused the light to turn on, and then go off as the button was released. With the new version, there is no "momentary" on/off...so...you push the button to a full click and the light turns on. If you need the light on for less than 5 seconds...you then need to push the button 3 times to turn it off (it cycles through the different brightness levels before you get to the "off" position). If the light remains on for more than 5 seconds, then it will only take 1 press to turn it off...but if you don't leave the light on for at least 5 seconds, then you will have to cycle through the other brightness levels to turn it off. In order, the button presses result in: 1st press=medium bright, 2nd press=full bright, 3rd press=low bright, 4th press=off. I have had it happen a few times where I need momentary light...so I push the button once....then a second later click through the levels trying to turn it off, and then put it in my pocket....only to realize later that it has been sitting in my pocket while still on the "low" brightness mode. Of course now I'm in the habit of counting the number of clicks...but...a momentary on/off feature would be better.
I do very much like how the light initially powers up on the medium setting...and then the second press goes to full bright. This is a good design feature. However, I do wish the "momentary" on/off functionality was still present.
Also...regarding the bite cap....I use it regularly...but...the button becomes more difficult to press with the bite cap installed as it causes the button to be even more recessed (with gloves on it becomes very difficult to operate the button). To alleviate this, I take a razor blade and trim the "lip" of the rubber so that it is lower profile and level with the top of the flashlight, and now I can operate the button more easily. See attached pic.

great customer support
This is an OK flashlight. Has a nice light. Bought this mostly for the bite sleeve. The rechargeable battery went out pretty soon. But coast was real responsive in resolving the issue. Sent a whole new flashlight, when I think it was just the battery. I used to have a 1 battery Stream light, and didn't realize how compact it was, great pocket light. The HP3R is a little long for pocket and kind of bulky for shirt pocket. The bite sleeve is cool, but too bulky, especially in shirt pocket. I'm not fond of 3 clicks for different light levels. There's probably better options, whish I had shopped more.

Best EDC Flashlight Produced
Have used coast products from headlamps to Flashlights for many years. I've been so impressed with the quality of their products that I frequently gift this Flashlight to friends and family. Their lights are far superior and more affordable than overpriced streamlights in my opinion. Coast customer service is top notch and their warranties are legitimate!
