It works. Well. Don't breathe it. Read the label and use with plenty of ventilation. Wear gloves or you'll end up growing extra fingers. It's a great product and worth every penny.

Excellent cleaner for film - movies, slides, negatives. Removes dirt without harming the emulsion. Even good for magnetic sound tracks on movies (super 8mm).

I tried Film Renew for cleaning films prior to transferring, but it didn't seem to remove much of the grime. Next came FilmGuard, the stuff the movie theaters used when they ran film. It lubes the film and does not dry. It actually seemed to attract dust and lint to the surface, so it was worthless for cleaning. I avoided Edwal because this stuff can cause cancer. Further, I life in Ohio and unless I use it outside, I have to clean film indoors. But it rains 60 percent of the days in Ohio, and when it is not raining, it is snowing. So using it outdoors is not an option. So I will risk my health and use this stuff to clean the film. It does an excellent job. Dries quickly and the film actually looks better when you are done with it. I tried using PEC pads for the cleaning but found they left little microfibers on the film (8mm, very small area). I using the soft cloths that are sold for record-cleaning systems. They are washable and lint has not been a problem. The film cleaner itself is so expensive, especially when you consider how competition has driven down the price you can get for a transfer ($5 for 50 feet in my area). Cleaning the film, using a mls of fluid each time, eats into the profits. I use a pipette to take a small quantity out of the bottle, which I keep capped very tightly. This stuff evaporates very quickly, so you can't soak the cleaning cloth. If you need to renew the film, then the Urbanski Film Renew is a superior product. I have soaked film in that for months. However, like this product, it comes with toxicity warnings. If you are actually projecting film and want it to run smoothly through the machine, Film Guard is superior. There is no one-in-all product, so we need to fill our booths with toxic chemicals to save motion picture film.

It is Amazing, I was looking for such product for a while. I had to digitized about 10,000 linear feet of super 8mm film. I use Kodak film cleaner I did ruined some footage's. And I was searching online for the right solution. At first I was hesitant for it is not cheep, but then what is the price of the family memories. Here how I did it. Take micro fiber cloth the one U clean lenses , deep it in the Anti-Stat solution, inside a glass jar 4 inches wide with lead so U can close it after each pass. Use in a very ventilated area for it evaporate fast. Squeeze the Micro fiber cloth so it become moist. Double the cloth and put it between two flat sponges, like the one for dish washing. Pull the film through between the Fiber Clothe make sure it does not touch the sponge .I use two reels and rotate the film from one reel to the other with a little pressure on the sponge. It is amazing it cleans everything dust soot all kind of particles. I use two passes back and forward .Now U can transfer the footage. If U try to sent it out it will cost you about 50 Cents a foot

I've purchased this product from Adorama multiple times in the past seven years, using it for cleaning old filmstrips prior to capturing the video and making into DVDs and movies. I've tried the other products and always come back to this - does the best job.

Recently needing to clean a great number of transparencies I was blown away by the price days of a bottle of Edwal Film Cleaner. for a 4 oz bottle. After going through a 4oz bottle in nothing flat I turned to looking for it in the 32oz size. Others that carry the film cleaner will not ship it but Adorama does and at a decent price. If you have slides and negs in an archive that you will need to give a cleaning before using then it makes sense to buy the 32oz size. Keep the lid on tight because it evaporates away in no time!

I've cleaned many reels of film with this product and am pleased with the results. The directions say to clean in one direction and that is good advice, especially with film with VS (strong vinegar smell). I have damaged a few frames of a VS film by cleaning too aggressively (back and forth), but never had a problem with a healthy film. I probably wouldn't have had any problem with the VS film had I followed directions. I would recommend this cleaner. Easy to order and does a good job.

Forget GooGone - this film cleaner takes gummy glue residue and oily dirt off of almost any material without melting it or discoloring it and leaves no residue itself, drying cleanly and quickly. This stuff is indispensable.

We relay on Edwal Anti-Stat Film Cleaner for providing a reliable cleaning on all film, 8mm, Super-8, 16mm, Polavision, slides, and negatives, before we migrate them to archival DVD or CD. It removes all surface dust, and helps to remove embedded dirt and light mildew. We have used it for years, and have not found any other product that works as well.

Have used other film cleaner but this is the best that I have found. I used 'cheaper' cleaner and found it to flick off the film as I was running it through my Sniper and splatter onto the lense. This left the 8mm movies looking dirty and with a haze to them. Not good when transferring to DVD.

Best overall film cleaner I have found. I restore 16mm film. I use it in an applicator between two rewinds. Barely dampen the flannel cloth, and you will see the dirt of years of neglect float onto the cloth. Keep advancing the cloth roll several times on the first run-through. Then run the film through two or three more times. This product will give the film a sheen and restore film you thought cound not be saved. I also use it on a small patch of flannel to manually clean stubborn areas, like old tape splices. Film projects quieter, too. Just DO NOT saturate the cleaning pads...this product WILL leave mottled areas on film of you over-dampen your pad. Just use enough to BARELY wet your cleaning material. The product stores well, and since you are not saturating the film a container of the goes a long way. Be sure to use in a well-ventilated area.

I collect and sell 16mm projected films and this cleaner dries quickly and will leave the film smooth and dirt free for quiet & sharp projection. Other cleaners dry very slowly and will sometimes spot film if it they are not used properly. Edwal will leave the film clean and spot free if used as follows: Use film cleaning pads, go over the entire film three to four feet at a time (or where desired) by hand and buff each section lightly immediatly with a clean dry pad for the best result. I use this product and believe it to give the best result even on extremely dirty film (which at times may need to be gone over twice). [...]
