Questions & Answers

Shopper : hello. I am interested in purchasing this product. but I wanted to make sure how many do I need to buy to make 24 - 18"x24" enlargements. What other products do I need to make these transfers? Will the liquid light work alone or do I need developers? How does the process work? Do you have anything larger than a 16oz?Christopher T : The amount in which you would need all depends on how well you are with the process. This process is not to difficult to grasp but it does take a lot of patience. If you have worked with any type of wet platting process before than this will become easier. It is hard to say the exact amount of bottles you would need but I would start with 2 or 3 to see how it works (with the expectation that you would need more). I went through 2 big bottles while working on 10 8x10s. The liquid light comes as a solid jelly like form at room temperature. When you are ready to print you have to emerge the bottle in warm water slowly melting it down till it's a smooth unclumpy form. Than you pour it onto your surface and coat it as you would with a wet plate, making sure there are no bubbles. Lastly you let it dry in a completely dark space. Once dry you print as you would a normal piece of photographic paper. The company says that you could put the liquid light on anything but me and a couple other people I know had some trouble with having the liquid light stay stuck to the surface. For example I was printing on 8x10 plexy glass. I would first clean the surface than spray it with a Mate medium to give it some sort of texture for the liquid light to stick to. After printing and letting it dry I would notice my image would peel up on the corners. I never really figured out a way to prevent this due to the fact it seemed very inconsistent. Overall this is a really fun product that opens up a lot of opportunities. Good luck.
