I've never used any brand of liquid emulsion before so I didn't have any expectations. I used warm tap water in a large pitcher and set the bottle (cap on) inside to bring the emulsion to a liquid pourable state. It felt like I was coating my paper ( a few different types of water color paper) with thick masking fluid. After letting it dry (I used a blow dryer on a low setting on the back side to ensure it would absorb into the fibers of the paper) I used it just as I would any photo paper under my enlarger. My images came out really well! I'm excited to move beyond my paper tests to other mediums!

Great product!

I've been using this emulsion with great results on canvas and paper.
While Liquid Light Black and White Emulsion is a professional-grade gelatine-silver emulsion, its innovative design allows for easy application on any material, opening up a world of creative possibilities for photographers and artists alike. This versatile emulsion can be used to print high-quality photographs on a variety of surfaces, including wood, glass, ceramics, plastics, chinaware, fabrics, metals, stone, walls, and even artist's canvas. You can even use it to create unique prints on an egg!
This durable emulsion offers a refreshing alternative to standard, off-the-shelf photographic papers. It allows you to create salon-grade prints on a multitude of handmade papers, adding a unique touch to your photographic creations. The process of printing with Liquid Light is as straightforward as using black-and-white enlargement paper. Simply brush the emulsion under an amber or red safelight onto your chosen surface, wait for it to firm up, and then expose it using an enlarger or slide projector.
The final product is processed with conventional paper developer and hardening fixer, resulting in an archivally-permanent print that boasts a full range of tones, from warm blacks to clean, transparent highlights. These highlights reveal the texture and color of the underlying material, adding depth and dimension to your prints.
One of the exclusive features of Liquid Light is its specially designed formula for easy darkroom coating. It provides coverage of 1 1/2 square feet or more per ounce, making it an economical choice for large projects. Moreover, unlike other brands, Rockland emulsions, including Liquid Light, contain no phenol, eliminating any concerns about toxic fumes or odors. The contrast of this emulsion is medium high, approximately #3 grade, ensuring your prints have a rich tonal range.
In essence, Liquid Light Black and White Emulsion is the perfect tool for photographers and artists seeking to push the boundaries of their craft, offering a blend of quality, versatility, and safety that is hard to match.
