Linear Polarizer Filter
The polarizer filter reduces light entering the lens that is oriented in a single plane (polarized light) without affecting color temperature. Light reflected off glass or water, as well as some of the light emitted from the sky on a clear day, is polarized. When rotated to the appropriate angle, the polarizer can largely eliminate reflections off glass or water. Furthermore, the polarizer will reduce glare and excess sky light, thereby increasing sharpness, contrast and color saturation of the image. The circular polarizer filter produces the same effect as the linear polarizer but (due to the light being circularly polarized before it enters the lens) does not cause interference with the lens' auto sensors. If using the auto sensor functions on a lens, this filter type is recommended.
Soft Mist Black 1/4 Filter
The soft mist clear filter combines a variety of filter technologies to create a subtle soft look. It reduces excessive sharpness but does not produce the same amount of light diffusion as the soft focus filter, while also lowering contrast slightly. It is ideal for creating a soft film look without producing an overstated special effect quality. The soft mist black filter is similar but has a slightly more subtle affect. Like the SMC filter it also diminishes highlight flares but does not lighten shadows as much. Cavision soft mist filters are available in a variety of density levels (1/8, 1/4 & 1/2).
Graduated ND 0.6 Filter
The graduated neutral density filter can be used to reduce the amount of light in one area of the image. The denser half of the filter will reduce light while the other half is transparent, with a gradual transition between the two. The filter can be shifted and rotated in the filter stage to affect only the portion of the image that is desired.
Graduated Blue & Orange 0.3 Filter
The graduated color filter can be used to change the hue in one specific area of the image. One half of the filter is colored and the other half is transparent with a gradual transition between the two. The filter can be shifted and rotated in the filter stage to affect the portion of the image that is desired. Cavision offers blue, orange, red, green and yellow graduated filters in various density levels (0.3, 0.6, 0.9 & 1.2).
