I think this is probably an OK filter. I bought it to add to another filter for capturing the solar eclipse. However, the camera quit working before I could evaluate the lens. So I'll try it later in other photographic situations.

Don't know if I received a bad unit but this one had tons of ghosting and made my Nikon impossible to focus. I have several cheaper vari NDs that performed better than this.

Will be using in time lapse photography. Also to add blur in moving water pictures.

A very good filter which, while seemingly expensive, will in the long run saves you from buying different ND filters. This is the only Variable ND I know of which can go down to ND2. The only improvement i can think of would have been to include a lock at the extremes (ND2 and ND400), because as it is the filter rotates 360 degrees. Also the print showing the ND stops is very fine and can be a pain to see in low light, while instead of simple dots, the amount f-stops could have been annotated.

Cokin PURE Harmonie filters are the thinnest and the lightest in the world. With a thickness of 4.5mm, they are almost invisible when mounted on your lens. Their weight is so light that you won't even notice that they are attached.
Cokin PURE Harmonie filters have been engineered with no compromise: very robust, compatible with all lens caps. Super lightweight for maximum AF performance and ultra-shallow profile to prevent vignetting, they are just perfect. They are PURE.
Neutral Density filters are used to reduce the quantity of light that reaches the sensor of the camera. They allow you to decrease the shutter speed in order to achieve motion blur (waterfalls, ocean, clouds ) and/or to reduce depth of field in very bright conditions. As they are "neutral", ND filters do not affect color rendition. With PURE Harmonie Variable Density Neutral Gray filters, users can select the intensity from 0.3 (1 f-stop) to 2.4+ (8+ f-stops) by rotating the front ring.
