Questions & Answers

Shopper : Does this lens fit a 77mm lens?EVERETT D : It is a square filter that needs an adapter and holder to fit the 77mm lens or any other size lens. That is the advantage of using a square filter. You purchase one holder and the ring adapter for the size lens you have and then use the one filter interchangeably. Check out the Conkin system on the web for more details.
NEVIA C : is this a hard line filter? thanksLuis Diego S : What do you mean by hard line? This one is not graduated. It has a constant neutral density everywhere. Please note that this filter introduces a little bit of color, that can be corrected in post.DANIEL R : No, it is a graduated filter.JOSHUA S : This is not a graduated filter. If you're looking for a filter that fades from clear to ND, then look for a "graduated" filter. Those should specify if it has a hard or soft transition from clear to ND.
yusuf n : how slow / fast is it to download images from nikon d600 camera to pc with agood fast memory card?WILLIAM H : While the Series P Neutral Density filter isn't really about a good memory card. I'll try and help as I can. Much of down load speed depends on several different factors. How many shots on the card, how much detail is in each photo or if you shoot RAW those kind of things will effect the speed of how files are downloaded to your computer. I shoot with a Canon 5DII and use a 266 16GB card. I'm a portrait shooter and sometimes landscape photographer so for me the 266 speed is plenty fast enough both loading onto the camera and my computer. My typical download time after a studio shoot of several hundred shots takes a few minutes. I'll typically then load those files in Bridge and add the pertinent meta data into the file. I use Lightroom 3 to do some minor adjusting and loading several hundred RAW files into Lightroom will take a few minutes. I've had cards in older cameras that took nearly a half hour to load large JPEG files onto my computer. Today's cards are pretty quick over all. Just make sure that you have a fast card reader those really help no matter what kind of card you are using.ELAINE O : I only ever download my images from my SD card to my computer, never directly from camera to computer. The time it takes is dependent on how much I am downloading. For me, normally 4 gigs of photos takes about 4 or 5 minutes. Hope this helps.

Cokin P Series #P154 neutral density filter

Overall this is a good filter. Does what it's supposed to do. But I would have preferred if it came with a hard plastic case instead of the paper card and vinyl envelop to protect it from scathing and easier to access.

cokin for me

i recently investigated the cokin system & decided that it is a great system to use for landscape photos. adorama has the best teaching videos in their a l c series. these filters are easy to use, inexpensive & of good quality. i recommend their use for those taking a majority of landscape shots

Works as expected

The Cokin ND filter does exactly what it's intended to do - allow for a very slow shutter speed in order to blur motion. The Cokin filter system allows using a single filter across multiple lenses with various filter thread diameters.

Good filter but can fool some autofocus

Be careful with the auto-focus setting. The filter could fool the auto-focus system.

Good Investment

Purchased two ND filters, .6 and .9 to complement the round filters I usually use. They're effective as described and a bit easier to use as compared to the round filters.

Cokin - Great Filters

Just added this filter to other Cokins I already have. The whole series ... especially the graduated NDs ... allow you to put the effect exactly where you need it, and easily stack other filters if needed.

Works as advertised

We all know that Cokin A and P-series ND's generally add a slight magenta tint to your image (and if you stack them, your image will be downright purple). Being well aware of that, otherwise, this affordable filter will definitely stop down your exposure by 3 full stops. Great for long exposures. Perfect for the photog who can't expend $300+ for the high end glass filters and those new to longer exposures. But as it is not solid glass, you'll need to be careful to not scratch or chip this filter. But you CAN afford to replace it if you do!

More shutter time

Easy to use. The only con. would be the material is plastic and coud get scratched but with proper handeling/ storage this should never be a problem. This will not give long shutter times in bright sunlight. My slowest ISO is 200 on my Canon 50D. I will get the 9 stop for very bright conditions.I guess I could get another like one and stack them and get 6 stops. All in all I'm pleased.

Very useful filter ....

I use this & other filters like this for reducing glare from sunrise, sunset or overly bright conditions warrant the need for reducing the overall light values in a shot. They are also useful in recording time exposures, getting blur or motion, in a particular scene! Although not used all the time, having the various ND filters, 4X, 6X or 8X, gives you flexibility in your overall compositions!

Works just as described!

I use this when the extra stops are needed to get the shot. Also replacing screw on type filters with the Cokin P series filter system due to the ease of use & just having to buy 1 set of filters for all my various sizes of lenses! Although I have bought a few of the screw on type in various sizes, I figured that getting started with this type of system would save me money in the long run. Not having to buy for the 3 different sizes of lenses I have at the present time will be a plus!

Does enough

This does just enough. I use it to extend exposures and this will buy just enough time. It is clear and good all by itself but when stacked with my other ND grads filters you get a magenta color cast. sometimes this effect helps sometimes it doesn't. You are getting what you pay for...but with my budget I will make due and so it does just enough for me!

Very good filter

This is a great filter that should be in every photographers kit. Mine doesn't have any color cast. This is great for situations where you have realy bright skyes and you are taking landscape pictures. It brings the sky light down so you can have well ballanced photos.

Typical Cokin Quality

As usual, a great Cokin filter. I bought this to allow for slower shutter speeds even with larger f stops. I'm generally happy with all the Cokin products except for their cases; the newer "flip open" design is an improvement over the previous two part design. On those, I've had to use painter's tape to keep the two halves together in the camera bag.

Purchased two ND filters, .6 and .9 to complement the round filters I usually use. They're effective as described and a bit easier to use as compared to the round filters.

An essential tool for every photographer's kit, the P154 Neutral Density Filter (ND8X) (0.9) P-Series from Cokin is meticulously designed to ensure no color from the visible spectrum dominates your shot. This high-quality, square-shaped neutral density filter measures 84 x 84mm and provides a uniform shading across your image, making it an ideal choice for a variety of photography genres.

The P154 ND filter offers a 3-stop exposure reduction, a feature that darkens your image by a 0.9 density. This allows photographers to experiment with longer shutter speeds or wider apertures than typically required, without affecting the overall coloration of the image. This versatility makes it a reliable tool for capturing stunning landscape and architectural shots, even in challenging light conditions.

Compatible with the separately available Cokin P filter holder, this durable filter effectively reduces the amount of light reaching the sensor or film, thereby increasing the exposure time. This feature has three main practical applications: emphasizing the flow of movement, reducing the depth of field, and avoiding overexposure.

With the P154 Neutral Density Filter, you can create images that are often impossible to achieve in digital post-processing. This filter is also widely used in filmmaking and video production to maintain a constant shutter speed, making it a valuable asset for both professional and amateur photographers alike. Experience the difference in your photography with the Cokin P154 Neutral Density Filter.

Cokin P-Series ND Filter Features

  • Uniform 3-stop exposure reduction for creative photography control
  • 0.9 density for darkened imagery without altering color balance
  • Enhances motion blur & depth of field in bright lighting conditions
  • Square 84 x 84mm high-quality filter compatible with Cokin P holder
  • Ideal for landscape and architectural photography, filmmaking, and video
  • Durable construction from reputable brand ensures reliable performance
