Love it! Great, clean sound. I use it for my self-tape auditions with my Canon M50.

I had to record a speaker from about 6 feet away in a room with a horrible echo and an HVAC system doing its thing. When I tried it with just the mic on my Canon 70D, the sound was terrible. Tweaking with Adobe Rush Premium didn't make any substantive difference. With this microphone, after a couple of tests of settings, the sound was infinitely better - although I still tweaked it in post. It's not the quality I might have gotten with a lavalier or hand held mic, but now good enough. Definitely worth the money and well suited to either someone using in good conditions, or the occasional user (like me).

Recorded a live band with this, sound quality was amazing and I was 20 metres away! I post footage on Facebook and the day after the singer sought me out for a copy as he said pics and especially the sound was fantastic. Nothing to dislike with this

The reduction of noise from the side and rear is not as good as some I've used, but for the price it isn't bad. Adding a dead cat helped quite a bit. Acoustics of course will make a difference but the -10 gain worked best where I've used it so far.

Great sound and easy to use. Controls are intuitive. The option to record on. Lard and bypass the camera is great.

This is a great microphone to expand the capabilities of a DSLR photographer. It is easy to use, fun to play around with, and produces great quality. One note though, you will need to spend time learning proper settings and adjusting it. Don't expect to get cinema quality audio right out of the box. If you schedule the time to shoot a couple dozen short videos and perfect your settings, you will really enjoy it.

A great improvement over the camera audio, plus lessens the noise from the body and focusing. I love that this model records to an external SD card- offers more versatility!

Worked great during a New Year’s Eve party with 30 in attendance. Loud background noise was subdued and interviews were crystal clear.

Just getting into video after 52 years as a stills photographer. Bought the VP83F because of reviews that praised its versatility. In first on-location tests I've been amazed by the sound quality - completely satisfied with the purchase, as I will be doing run-and-gun shooting at public events and in school classrooms and playgrounds (riding a Segway MiniPro!). I love that the Shure gives you SD card recording and a first-rate mic in one SMALL unit.

Slightly larger than I hoped. I didn't use all the features yet so further review to come.

This is a great microphone with excellent build quality. The size was smaller than expected, and it fits perfectly on my Sony Mirrorless camera. Battery was easy to install, and the switches do not feel cheap at all. The three settings on the gain switch are perfect for recording in a variety of environments.

I'm not a mic pro, but this fits all my video needs. Catches good audio during violin recitals.

I think I've tried every microphone out there looking for the perfect solution to get high quality, clean audio shooting run and gun style. The fact that this camera can record to an sd card internally is amazing. The quality blows my mind with every shoot. You can adjust the gain for the sd recording, and also specify an output level that plugs into your DSLR or BMPCC. The sound quality and lack of noise on the sd recording makes you realize how bad the preamp recordings on my canon 5d and bmpcc really are. So, I use those recordings as reference and swap in the sd recordings in post using pluraleyes. Since a 32 gig microSD card can record 60 hours on the camera, I just start it recording at the start of the shoot and don't shut it off until I wrap. The batteries last all day as well. If you don't want an external microphone AND an external audio recorder strapped to your camera this is the solution for you. Give it a try, you will be amazed.

High quality sound, flexible set up and useful as an on-camera mic and as a stand alone recorder. I use it as a two-mic set up, by using the built in camera stereo mic as wide angle ambient recording, then use the Shure to record the performers or the interview. Marry the two sound recordings in post and you have the best of both worlds. The recorder function is what really sets this one part. Very pleased

This mic sounds even better than I expected. It is warm and rich and clear. Build quality and suspension are far nicer than Rode video mic pro. Sound seems clearer than the Rode, and much richer than the Sennheiser MKE400. I bought a 3.5mm-to-2.5mm adapter at Radio Shack to attach this to my Fuji X-E1. Then I turned Fuji pre-amp gain to minimum setting. There is still so much gain that I can only use the mic's +20dB setting in very quiet situations. Mostly the 0dB or -10dB settings work well, and I get no hiss when using them. I think there is just a very low hiss when using +20dB, but very minor. I highly recommend this product.
