This screws on easily. makes long exposures simple. In the photo The street light exposed the grass perfectly. 10 seconds at f 4 and 1000 ISO. the ISO of 1000 is to capture the stars the lights in the area blocked many stars.

This shutter release makes all the other after-market brands seem rather inferior. Push the button down half-way to focus. Then all the way down to trigger the shutter. It also has a locking mechanism for long shutter exposures. The connection of the cable to the body is a ten-pin screw-on connector. It fits precisely onto the body. It has a white index mark on the connector that matches up with a white index mark on the body of the camera. So there's no rotating of this cable or guessing to get it seated correctly.

I bought this unit for a remote trigger and it does trigger the camera remotely...ONCE. I have tried it on more than one camera with the same result. It fires ONCE and that is it. I cannot remember whether or not I had to power down the camera after removing the unit but the point is that I pulled it out of my bag. I do not like it.

I like using the remote when doing time exposures using window light for still life photography.

I bought a rubber o ring sized to fit over the knurled part of the retainer, problem solved for less than $1.00. I also have the 10ft extension cable, works flawlessly.

Very good idem to have in your kit especially for portrait work, though I would love a longer cord and the extensions are very expensive. Hopefully soon an updated model with dedicated refocus control?

I has a couple old style Nikon MC30 remotes for my D300 and D700 and honestly, they were a pain. Tough to get threaded and you needed tiny little girl hands to get id screwed all the way, and I adapted a rubber washer on them for grip. I got a new D800, and having worn my last old style remote out by putting camera in bag still attached, I ordered the "new" style. What a dream! Added is a grip/spin wheel and the threads actually match. Its a five second attachment now. Pricey, but worth it!

The remote release does what it's supposed to do. It is reliable and easy to store. Items like this are very good if they work every time and this one does. A little on the expensive side, but you only buy one and it should last a long time

I bought this product to carry with me when wanting to travel light. I have a problem with the attaching it to the camera body. It is quite difficult to screw into as one has to push down while turning. Also after it has been attached it has a tenancy to loosen and disconnect from the camera body.

The MC-30 is a necessity for eliminating shake for long tripod exposures. It is the least expensive of the Nikon shutter releases.

THis is the second time I've bought this product. I was using it so often that I left it attached to the camera all the time and I just plain wore it out. Don't recommend leaving it attached all the time (I won't be doing that any more - too much unnecesary stress on the cable), but this is a great product for the price.

SImple idea! Use it anytime you have the camera on a tripod and want the sharpest image. I have used mine for macro shots as well as astrophotography. It also allows for the photographer to stand back and use live-view during other shooting. It is a bit expensive but it can help you get a sharper image. Updated version of the good ol' cable release.

Photographing birds and other wildlive within a blind. it's quiet and easy to use. It's a NIKON .'nuff said!

The release works very well but! It's difficult to screw into the camera and after a while the insulation tore at the camera end exposing the wires. Other people have also had this problem. It's poorly designed but there are no other choices.

The primary use is for an F100. It works very well and is actually quite sensitive so be careful while depressing that shutter release button. The only gripe, like some others have mentioned, is the length of the cord... another foot or two would be nice.

This remote does what one expects, but only if you are close to the camera. I use it for tripod work. It connects to the D700 well, but the cable is short! For the cost, it is not as impressive as other Nikon products.

I use this cable release with my D3 and am continually frustrated with the tiny ring to screw it into the camera. My fingers may be larger than most, but this issue would be easily solved with a ring at least twice the current diameter. The cord needs to be securely attached to ensure a connection and also to avoid continually falling out. The designers need to use the equipment themselves to avoid getting tripped up with these simple design flaws.

works perfectly, and for the price it better should.

Works great for remote shutter release on Nikon D#00 models. A must have for any tripod application to minimize camera shake; especially long exposures like astro-photography. Half-press works just like the on-camera shutter release button. Works with camera self-timer to let you get into a group shot.

When you need your camera to stay completely still & you have to get 7 bracket images quickly, This is the ideal remote. With the lock feature in hand, all you gotta do is pull the trigger & BAM! it will complete all bracket shots at one time. Again, a Must have if you own a tripod & are into HDR photos.

You have to have a remote cable for Macro Photography. This one is simple and easy to use. Would be a better product if it was 12 inches longer.

Unfortunately Nikon does not allow standard flexible cords to connect onto their DSLR's. Then there is no other choice than to buy this cord which does the job.

It does what it is supposed to do. I wish Nikon had the new D300s equipped with the infrared eye so I could use the $20 remote control I used with the D70. I find it hard to screw it on the D300s, but definitely something I needed.

Does exactly what it is supposed to do simply and reliably; though it is a little tricky to get the threaded screw started. That's not a regret, just an observation.

2 reasons for not give 5 star... #1 It don't feel strong enough and 2nd the price is too high for the technology and materials used... Besides that, its great for macro and low speeds. The control feels very good to operate and acts like camera shutter (half way = focus) (all way down = take the picture)... Obiously Need good tripod. I first use it to shot some butterflies in the door of the refrigerator, I was amazingly with the sharp result and clarity of the image... something that would be imposible w/o tripod and this remote.

I have used remote triggers for years when I want to get the very sharpest photo I can get. This product is lightweight, dependable and simple to use. While less functional than Nikon's MC-36, it is a less expensive, simple, battery-free solution when a timer or intervalometer is not needed.
