I hadn't used an actual camera, other than my phone, in decades but I see a lot of interesting wildlife while I'm out fishing and I was frustrated with the quality and limited range of my phone. My last camera was a Canon FTB 35 mm film camera but I wanted something digital and after researching for days, decided on a "bridge" camera, not needing or wanting interchangeable lenses but still wanting to cover macro to zoom. This Minolta does all of that and does it very well IMO. It was also far less expensive than other bridge cameras which was important as I wasn't sure I was smart enough to use a new digital camera. As it turns out, I didn't need to be. I've only scratched the surface of what this camera can do and have only used the automatic modes thus far, but I'm very happy with the results. The 67x zoom is amazing! At full power, any movement is amplified so a tripod would be necessary, but I have captured some really amazing pictures using less than full zoom and freehand. The pictures were all taken with the MN67Z in wide angle, macro, or handheld zoom. The accessories provided in this Adorama package, including the bag, are great too. For a budget bridge camera, I couldn't be happier. I was so impressed, a week later I wanted to see how a more expensive bridge would compare, so I ordered a Lumix DC-FM1000m2 package from Adorama. I love the Lumix and the autofocus is much better than the Minolta, the Lumix was more than twice the price. I take the Minolta MN67Z with me in the boat fishing. For photo context the pelicans were shot from the same distance. First wide angle then zoom. The fly, first wide angle then zoom.

I was looking to replace an older Sony point and shoot when I found these new Minolta cameras. As a very old Minolta user, I bought the MN22Z, MN35Z and the MN67Z. All three cameras are great, but the MN67Z is now my preferred. The incredible zoom competes with almost anything that I can put on my DSLR, the Alpha 99-II. The resolution of the MN67Z is less than half of the alpha, but for a point and shoot it is still incredible. The one issue that I have seen with a different review is that the 67x zoom goes to the extremes here. Anybody who is trying to zoom all the way and take a picture while holding this camera in their hand will fail. The camera will be completely unable to focus due to the constant motion. In the extreme zoom only a tripod and a timed release can be used to get a focused picture. Yes, the Wi-Fi provides a remote release, but I do not even own a cell phone... There are so many possible scenes and modes that it will be confusing for anybody who has not been a photographer for a long time, but you do not have to use those if you do not understand it. The pure basics are just right and incredibly well implemented, just like Minolta used to do and is still doing. I did also buy a Sony DSC-HX99, but I am very disappointed with the quality and it is collecting dust and will be doing so. My only problem is that my 15 year old tried the MN67Z and now wants to take it away from me. That will be a fight! The attached picture of the moon is taken free hand just leaning the camera on top of a car roof rack using hand release. Still incredible!

The camera is okay, but my previous Canons were better. I take a lot of bird photos and need a good zoom. It zooms fine but I was used to zooming, clicking on bird, and the camera kept a clear focus of the bird while nicely blurring the background. Not with this one. Maybe I need to learn more about the camera. I'm basically a point and shoot photographer.

Nikon cameras seem to have taken better quality photos, sharper pictures. The zoom feature doesn't seem as good either and I take a lot of bird photos. With my other cameras I could zoom in so nicely and the background blurred quickly and effectively. Not with this one. This is the first camera with the viewer that opens up so I had to learn to find my subject from another window which sometimes put the images in the opposite direction. I'm trying to like it! But I may trade it in for another one. Any tips to liking it would be welcome. Thanks!
