Ralph C : ARE THESE SOFTBOXES COMPLETE? OR DO i NEEd to purchace light assemblys also? I don't have lights and have never used them.MARIA M : Ralph, I am so sorry...I bought this a while back, and I realized I DID have to purchase a speed ring separately. Here is the one I bought that fits the Alienbee, and WhiteLighting heads from Paul C Buff www(dot)adorama(dot)com/CMSRWL(dot)html (had to change the link because I cannot post links in this reply. Please forgive me as it has been several years since I purchased these items. They are well worth the money if you can afford them.MARIA M : They are complete in a sense that they have the speed ring that connects directly to your flash head. A speed ring is usually a metal attachment that fits over the end of your strobe and secures the poles from the softbox to the light. This is a complete stripbox meaning if you have your Alienbee (or other suitable flash head) and a light stand of your own...you will be ready to use this. It has the actual box (made of a canvas type material) and it has 4 poles (to expand and shape the canvas), and it has the speed ring for attaching to your light. I am guessing your question on the assembly would probably be asking about the speed ring adapter....and yes it does have one. These boxes are a bit spendy, but really worth it. Chimera makes top notch gear and you really do get what you pay for. You will love the world of strobe lighting...it is a lot of fun! Especially when you use this with an Alienbee, or White lighting flash head from Paul C Buff. Oh, and I recommend a Vagabond Mini (also from Paul C Buff).

medium strip bank does the job!

The medium strip bank does the job well. The flush front allows light to be "feathered" off the edge of the modifier, so it is easy to control light fall-off and attain graduated lighting. With the inner baffle in place, the modifier produces even light with a very soft quality (this is a softbox, after all!). The white inner lining is pretty efficient, so I can shoot at close distances with speed lights. I have a minor complaint about the flaps in back - I wish they were secured with longer sections of velcro. The flaps are secured with a small square of velcro on each corner, and I am not sure if this is allowing some light loss. But as I said, this is a minor complaint. Otherwise, the modifier works great!

Chimera -- Amazing Beauty Light!!!

Our production company shoots fashion, sports, and travel-related programming for the top networks in the country. We are constantly shooting stills for movie and tv promotions, catalogues, and other marketing materials. We combine this Chimera with Dyna-lite's studio flash heads...The skin tones on the girls are amazing. This lightbank is a great alternative to the beauty dish in tight shooting locations.
