I was nervous about the optical quality and undoubtedly expected chromatic aberration. What a pleasant surprise! Despite its short f/ratio and simple doublet objective lens, this scope turned out to be an excellent performer even when pushed to relatively high magnifications. I mounted the scope piggy-back on my C9-1/4, a true complement. Overall, I’m very impressed with the value that the scope represents. While clearly this is not a telescope for purists who demand optical and mechanical perfection, but for its reasonable price, many observers would be very happy to have one.

It's light for a 4 inch refractor and delivers decent views of open clusters and nebulae even under only moderately dark sky.
TEECE J.
The 102mm Wide View Spotting Scope's 4" aperture provides bright, breath-taking views of both ground and celestrial objects. Its fully multicoated optics perform brilliantly in low light conditions. Perfect for squeezing more precious viewing time into those early mornings and late evenings.
Two top of the line 1¼" Plossl Eyepieces are included for 20x and 50x magnification. Also included is a 45 degree erect image diagonal and tripod adapter for mounting to any photographic tripod.
Photographers will appreciate the 102's fast (500mm, f/5) optical system. Its classical refractor design with achromatic two-element lens made of crown and flint glass is well suited to both visual and photographic applications.
At 21" in length and 5 lbs. in weight, the 102 mm is lightweight and portable enough for serious field work. Great for bird watching, astronomy and photography as well as nature study.
Celestron offers an optional 6x30 erect image finderscope with dovetail bracket(#93778) that easily attaches to the spotting scope. The finderscope offers a wider field of view and crosshairs that make finding and centering objects quicker and easier.
