Shopper : can the moon filter be used as a light pollution filter?JOHN M : I don't know the wavelength contour of the moon filter but the aim of it would be to increase contrast and probably to reduce brightness. The pollution filters actually have bandwidths of absorption to cut light from lights on the ground reflected by particles in the atmosphere and they allow the rest of the spectrum through so you still see the stellar and nebular light with little attenuation. I think the moon filter would work against you in viewing most objects, but if you have it you might as well try it out. Good pollution filters are more expensive.ANGEL O : the moon filter can-not be used as a light pollution filter because the moon filter only cuts down on the amount of light you need a real light pollution filter just type the letters "lpf" in the search barBENNETT F : A moon filter and a light pollution filter operate in different ways. A moon filter cuts out a certain percentage of light, for example 50%, because the light from the moon can be quite bright when the lunar image is magnified in a telescope with sizable aperture. All wavelengths of light are reduced. A light pollution filter allows 100% of most wavelengths of light through, and eliminates or reduces only those associated with lighting such as sodium vapor and mercury lighting.JAMES L : No. A moon filter is typically a neutral density filter, which means it attenuates evenly across the visual spectrum. A so called light pollution filter attenuates more in selected parts of the visual spectrum where scattered light from terrestrial sources (e.g. certain kinds of street lighting) tends to be emitted. The idea is to attenuate the polluting light more than the celestial light so as to increase contrast (but not brightness; no filter can do that) of a celestial object with respect to the surrounding sky.LLOYD B : As Richard W said, a moon filter is simply a neutral gradient filter which reduces the amount of light reaching the eyepiece so the perceived brightness is reduced to allow comfortable viewing of the moon. Light pollution filters (Oxy, nebular, etc.) are selective to filter different wavelengths of polluting light reflecting in the atmosphere.WILLIAM S : The moon filter cannot be used as a light pollution filter. The moon filter is a neutral density filter that cuts down on all wavelengths of light equally. This reduces the glare from the moon when observing it. The light pollution filters attenuate only specific frequencies of light associated with outdoor lighting while letting other frequencies to pass through without attenuation.TEJIN C : If the moon filter is neutral density filter, then it will not help since light from all frequencies are reducedRichard W : Baader makes a moon and sky glow filter and this can be use for light pollution. If you are referring to a type of moon filter that is designed to reduce the amount of light while viewing a full or near to full moon, the answer is no. I'm not sure which piece, the focuser? , yes, if it the standard 1 1/4". The 2X Barlow is 1.25 inches at the base. I have a Z12 and I am still very new to astronomy, my apologies if I misunderstood the question.

These are good lenses, but if it was not part of the deal I would not have gotten them. The case is great but the foam is cut so you Cant add additional lenses. ITs just not very user friendly.

This kit is nice if the telescope you have needs a Barlow and some filters and maybe some eyepieces you don't have. Better than buying separate. This Barlow has a T fitting a attach a camera if you thing you might want to do that in the future.

Amazing!

We purchased the bundle kit inc these lenses and filters along with the Celestron Nexstar Evolution 9.25mm telescope and we are thrilled! We are amateurs and just love the mystery of what?s out there and we just moved to the mountains from the city so we had to get a good telescope. First fast shipping and handling. Second the telescope is AMAZING! Unfortunately it?s been quite rainy since getting it but the couple of clear nights were amazing. We were able to see stars that our naked eye could not see. The moon looked like I could touch. So much to learn but it?s not so complicated that we cannot figure it out, which was one of our concerns. Super easy setup and moving it around also. We can?t recommend it enough!
