Shopper : Did you have an issue with spherical aberration/turned edge (objective mirror) on your C5? thank you, DeanTHOMAS H : Nothing noticeable here. I find mine to be sharp edge to edge. Remember, this is an fl/10, so only a really widefield ep is going to show some coma.JOHN W : I have a C5 that I bought used and have used for astrophotography for over 5 years. There are optical aberrations, as with all optical instruments, especially when the secondary is not properly aligned. The corrector plate should mostly correct for spherical aberration. All in all a good, inexpensive optical system, that has provided me with photographs of galactic nebula once only imaged at large astronomical observatories. Just remember to collimate the instrument when doing critical work.DONALD E B : We use this scope to watch birds in our back yard. Most are within fifty feet. So even if there were any aberrations, I'm not sure they would be evident at that range. That said, I am totally satisfied with this product. It does exactly what I expected.JAMES S : I didn't buy the Celestron C5, I bought the Bushnell Elite 80mm Spotting Scope.
Shopper : can you see a bullet hole (1/4 inch) at a 1000 yds.?PAUL L : Not sure about 1/4 inch bullet hole. Possibly, if you know where to look. I can see the eyes of people climbing on the Sydney Harbour Bridge, 2 Kms away. Would not be able to distiguish eye colour though. Paul from Sydney.DANE M : I have not tried this yet, but I think it would. However, I do not think it would be as rugged as I would like it to be for the firing ranges I have seen.WILLIAM R. I remember wondering the same thing when I saw the photo. I believe the color as shown is no longer available new. The black looks great, btw, and although I have too many scopes, I won't sell this one because it's so sharp. Hope that helps.

Great for Day & Night

Will take pictures of wildlife, Have already shot the moon. This is a 24 HR tool to your inner child. Ease of use for everybody, beginner on. Love it.

I have had two of these scopes as well as their big brother a C8 and was well satisfied by all of them. For photgraphic use a lens shade is a must. I used a Minolta X700, and a Canon 50D

Quality problems

I had two of these telescopes delivered just before Christmas. The first one had image sharpness problems. Sent it back and received another. The second one had a scratch on the 45 degree lens. Sent it back and suggest Celestron to review their quality.

One Nice Scope!!

I am extremely satisfied with the C5 spotting scope. I found the setup and adjustments straightforward. I ordered a 15 mm eyepiece with the scope and am very pleased with the additional magnification that it provides. Also, I have experimented with 35 mm photography using my Canon AE-1 with excellent results - better that I expected as I am not a professional. I strongly recommend the C5 to anyone interested in an excellent daylight scope for viewing and for photography, and for causual astronomical use.
