When mine arrived the reticle lens was loose. Fortunately, I was able to get it back into place, but that definitely left me questioning the quality and workmanship. Since then, it’s been good. My biggest complaint is that it has a low eye relief - you quite literally have to put your eye right you to it to properly see - not great for people who need to keep glasses on due to astigmatism. Otherwise it’s good - does the job it was intended to.

It is helpful in centering your target.I did have a little getting the reticles completely sharp.Yes I would recommend this product to anyone having trouble centering object in the eyepiece.

Just received this today and tried it out tonight. Fortunately, I thought I would power it up during daylight to see if the reticle worked. Unfortunately, it didn't and no matter how I oriented the batteries. So I ended up powering the LED directly from a 3V AAA pair I taped to the outside of the eyepiece. Beware that at least mine wouldn't quite reach focus either, at least not without shortening the focus tube of my scope which I'm not going to do. Sorry, for the price, I just can't recommend this.

I received this in poor condition. Eyepiece and illuminator were out of the box inside the packing envelope and the box itself was torn and smashed. After assembling the illuminator it would not turn on. I checked the baterries and they were good. I had to stick a small screwdriver into the LED half of the illuminator and pry up the battery contact about 1/16th of an inch. Then it worked perfectly. I'll attempt to give another review on the optical performance. Otherwise the build quality looks OK.

I feel obliged to clarify my previous review. I don't have any issues with this eyepiece reticle or its focusing mechanism. In fact, that's the only components that I rated as good. The Reticle focus ring is obvious. I even calibrated the reticle before putting the eyepiece in the telescope. You only have to turn on the reticle, look through the eyepiece leaving the cap at the other end, and adjust the brightness and reticle focus by rotating the reticle focusing ring. Once in the telescope, you can fine tune. I have three serious concerns with this eyepiece: 1) Low quality, second class optics. This has nothing to do with the reticle. I'm referring to the normal telescope focus, as done with any common eyepiece. Stars don't ever get to focus, even on great seen nights. Only diffraction rings at both ends of the focus. You can only hope to reduce these rings as much as possible. 2) Short focal length of 12.5 mm. This is important as it leaves a very narrow field of view and a relatively high magnification (120X in a NexStar 6 SE, 162.5X in a NexStar 8 SE) reducing its usefulness. 3) High price for what you get.

This is a great piece of kit. I saw the previous post about not being able to focus, but perhaps they did not realize that there is a focusing ring on the top which is a nice plus. This means in addition to the telescopes focus, you can fine tune the focus for the reticle itself. I use this on my 8" Edge HD and the adjustable LED is fantastic.

The reticle design and illumination system are good, but the optics are mediocre at best. Maybe I received an early production example. I have not been able focus to obtain pinpoint stars on my Nexstar 6 SE, only diffraction rings. The 12.5 mm focal length doesn't allow for an adequate wide field. Adorama has the lowest cost, but it is still too expensive. I don't recommend this product.
