The Dew Heater Ring is engineered to replace the standard plastic retaining ring on your Schmidt corrector lens, providing efficient heating across the lens surface. Crafted from lightweight, durable aluminum, the ring boasts a rigid frame that not only supports the cable circuitry but also the telescope's Schmidt corrector lens. Unlike traditional heating bands or strips that heat the lens cell indirectly, the Celestron Dew Heater Ring directly warms the corrector glass. This direct approach facilitates the most efficient heat transfer, effectively preventing dew formation. To activate the Dew Heater Ring, simply connect it to an external 12V DC power source. This ensures consistent, continuous heat, preventing dew formation even under heavy dew conditions. The Dew Heater Ring also features two storage clips, designed to keep the power and thermistor jacks secure when not in use. These clips also accommodate the telescope's dust cover. Additionally, the Dew Heater Ring includes a cable management clip that attaches to the telescope's front cell, preventing the power and thermistor jack from dangling and reducing unwanted pulls on the cable connection to the rings. The package includes the Dew Heater Ring, a cable management clip, a power jack extension cable, and a paper installation shield. For optimal dew prevention and power efficiency, consider pairing the Dew Heater Ring with a Smart DewHeater Controller (sold separately). The controller utilizes the ring's built-in thermistor and its internal environmental sensor to provide the precise amount of heat needed to prevent dew. This is based on the ambient temperature, ambient humidity, and temperature of the Schmidt corrector, which can significantly reduce the ring's power draw, thereby extending battery life. The ring also comes with an extension cable, allowing for direct connection to one of the controllers' heater output ports, or to a third-party controller's heater output port. The Celestron 11? Dew Heater ring is a great idea and a great product from Celestron! The ring replaces the original ring and installs by removing eight small screws and removing the original ring and the gasket. The dew heater ring slides into place with cut out notices indicating how to set the ring. Replace the screws following the instructions using a ?star pattern? and your ready to go! The new ring includes all data and looks great! Also has a retaining clip to ensure no damage to cables and makes cable management easier! Well done Celestron!!
