I purchased a Celestron NexStar Evolution 8 EdgeHD, Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope with StarSense about 4 years ago. The Wifi NEVER worked as advertised. It would connect for several minutes and then disconnect and after that repeatedly disconnect within a minute of re-connection. I was advised to update the software several time but with only marginal improvement. The New Leaf Electronic Protection plan did not cover this claiming this is a "preexisting condition." The telescope is otherwise well made and performs as advertised, but I was sadly disappointed to have an unusable WIFI connection when this was one of the primary features in my purchase decision. The responses from Celestron and New Leaf have been unsatisfactory.

The Evolution 8HD is so easy to use with the Starsense Auto Align camera. The Evolution mount is a nice upgrade over the SE mount. And the optics are great. I think it was worth the price difference, but it is a decision each of will have to weigh the pros and cons of.

The Celestron NexStar Evolution 8 is a great scope, very easy to set-up and use. I suggest taking the time to assemble the different parts - tripod, mount and telescope tube while inside the house while learning the mount and the Go-To feature. The Go-To mount made finding objects simple. The only thing I have a concern with is the attach point for the telescope optical tube. When it is closed it doesn?t clamp onto the mounting bracket tightly. I don?t yet know if this is by design or not, but it is a question I need to ask. Over all I am very happy with the telescope.

I ordered the Celestron Evolution 9.25" scope in October of 2021. I received the scope in April of 2022. I understand the current world situation but there could've been better communications throughout the process with updates and expected dates of delivery. So far, I've not had a good chance to actually use the scope but I expect great performance once I'm able to get outside and view the stars, planets and galaxies.

The 'Swiss Army Knife' of telescopes. Others are better at some particular thing, this is good at everything but Astrophotography, which needs a better, bigger, Equatorial mount. What i have is inexpensive enough, transportable enough, big enough, simple enough, powerful enough, and configurable enough for visual and EAA astronomy for both Solar System and Deep Space Objects. Manual clutches, WiFi, and on-board power, are icing on the cake. With Barlows and reducers and HyperStar, it can go from more than f/20 down to f/2 with enough aperture and FOV to see most things, and a small wide-field triplet which would ride on the same mount and with EAA would almost everything else. I have yet to do more than observe the moon with it because of my heavy work and travel schedule. Celestron's documentation and hand control menu tree could be better. I'm glad YouTube exists. Arrived on time, well packaged and a day earlier than promised.

Awesome telescope and great packaging and delivery by Adorcam. Adriana was gracious enough to let me cancel the StarSense system that was on back order with no hassle at all!

I made my purchase just before an annual Astronomy event in Nebraska. Due to the fires in California, Oregon, Idaho, and Canada, we have been blanketed with a thick layer of smoke / haze. This has made viewing any stars almost impossible. I believe I have a good model of telescope, but will have to wait about 30 days to actually get to use it. I will have it set up with a Nikon 35MM DSLR camera for pictures So maybe by sometime in September 2021 I'll have a better review.

This is a very nice telescope with lots of features. This telescope works well for visual photography but the stock tripod it came with should be of sturdier design.

There are some hardware issues which would not exist if there was good quality control. On mine, the threads on the leg support rod and the thumb screw for the red dot sight were poorly machined. I haven't had any luck getting replacements, so I fixed the problem myself. The scope itself is wonderful. Most reviews show there is problems with the hardware. Know this as you purchase one.

Love it! It?s better than I expected, everything worked great. It was in good condition when I received it. I did wait for awhile because it was on back order, but the wait was worth it.

The Celestron Edge HD telescope is a great telescope. The tracking system is spot on and the star sense alignment works very well. My only issue is the app can be a little glitchy during wifi set up and I would've like to have more eye pieces and a camera adapter with the system. I bought those separately and they work very well. I also got the Celestron eyepiece and filter package and they work well. I haven't tried the filters on planets yet but am looking forward to it. I've noticed the barrow lens can make things a little blurry but I think it might have been weather artifacts. One thing that is undeniable with the Edge HD are the optics. All and all, a great purchase.

Absolutely the best purchase! We just moved away from the city to the mountains and are total amateurs but want to enjoy the night sky. It?s super easy setup and moving. The telescope and stand is super solid and no worries that it?s not stable. We were so excited when we saw stars in our view that we could not see with the naked eye. Highly recommended.

This is a quality telescope. I was pleased to find the tripod to be a heavy duty, sturdy model. Being a beginner, I was advised to buy this scope and grow into it. It may be the only scope I would ever need. I found the scope to be easily set up, aligned, and easily operated. I added the Starsense option which really made it easy for me to get into this hobby quickly. So far, night one setup and viewing was great. Looking forward to many more nights of viewing.

Absolutely in love with it since the moment I unboxed it. It arrived securely and very well packaged which I was nervous about until it arrived. I went with the 9.25 because of the amazing reviews and it did not disappoint. It comes with the tripod for the CPC1100 which is super stable. Yes, I do agree that the whole assembly is very heavy but think about all of the positives. I got the hang of the manual 2-3 star alignment using the keypad before I went over to the SkyPortal app. Everything is super easy to use and the quality is exceptional. Absolutely recommend this SCT. I am awaiting the new Celestron carry case for the tube only that has shipped today and am looking forward to taking it on some trips. The battery lasts crazy long and is a huge perk. USB ports to charge your devices as well as a tray for your eye pieces. WiFi is built in so no need to purchase separately. The Celestron case only fits the tube for the 9.25 and not the mount as well so be sure to plan for a larger case or a separate one for your mount. I opted for the soft carry case (sold on here) for the tube and a custom tote with foam for the mount only. I know it is probably backordered for a while but it is well worth the wait. In the grand scheme of things, time is relative anyway. 5 stars all the way. You're worth it.

It’s better than we expected. Securely packaged for shipping. Very easy to assemble and get setup. Starsense finder and Celestron’s mobile app make it so easy to see the night skies. The delivery took a long time due to back orders but I thank Adorama for being so great with sending updates of the order.

Amazing piece of optics. The edge system is well worth the extra money. The evolution mount is also top notch and has so much room for accessories with all the extra ports. The battery is also phenominal and easily lasts a while veiwong session.

Celestron's NexStar Evolution 8 HD 60th Anniversary Edition telescope celebrates the best of Celestron's past and present. We're producing only 600 units to commemorate 60 years. Each telescope includes an individually numbered certificate of authenticity signed by CEO Corey Lee and Celestron pioneer Alan Hale. This limited-edition scope is sure to become a valuable addition to your astronomy collection and a treasured part of Celestron history.
60th Anniversary Highlights
The NexStar Evolution mount stays true to its name and keeps evolving; it's been updated with unique features for this limited edition. The Evolution mount is paired with 8" EdgeHD optics inside a carbon fiber tube for the first time ever. You also receive the StarSense AutoAlign accessory, three eyepieces (including one 2" eyepiece), and lots of other upgrades that make this a versatile and portable telescope system.
The twill weave carbon fiber optical tube evokes Celestron's iconic carbon fiber tubes of decades past. But it's not just for looks carbon fiber is resistant to thermal expansion, which helps the optical system maintain focus as the ambient temperature changes.
You'll find a vintage nameplate on the mount's base with the telescope's individual serial number. You'll also find retro style lab eling and nameplates on the optical tube. The fork arm features a slot to accommodate a magnetic, interchangeable "spinner' emblem." You'll receive a total of 3 emblems to swap out depending on the night or your mood. Designs include: Celestron's current logo, th e 60th anniversary logo, and the vintage "hamburger" logo.
NexStar Evolution 8HD Highlights
The innovative NexStar Evolution is a compact, portable, and mechanically solid telescope made for hours of serious visual observing and certain types of astroimaging. The NexStar Evolution HD package stands out due to its unique features, including: StarSense AutoAlign, EdgeHD optics, integrated WiFi, and its internal LiFePO4 battery.
StarSense AutoAlign in the SkyPortal App
StarSense AutoAlign helps you optimize your time outdoors, giving you back time you would have spent aligning your telescope and allowing you more time to observe. It scans the night sky and analyzes the star patterns overhead, automatically calculating the telescope's precise location, the date, and the current time. What's more, you can add up to 10 additional alignment stars for the most accurate alignment possible. This sought-after add-on accessory is included in the 60th anniversary telescope kit.
Because StarSense AutoAlign is paired with the Evolution mount, you get even more functionality and ease of use. Connect to the mount via the SkyPortal mobile app and you can perform the automatic alignment directly from your smart device, then instantly command the telescope to slew to your first celestial object.
8" EdgeHD Optical Tube
EdgeHD is an aplanatic, flat-field Schmidt optical system that produces aberration-free images across a wide visual and photographic field of view. The optical system reduces more than just off-axis star coma; it provides an astrograph-quality flat focal plane al l the way to the edge of the field of view.
EdgeHD optics produce a focal plane more than three times flatter than a standard Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope and dramatically fla tter than competing coma-free designs. This guarantees you visibly sharp stars across full frame sensors.
The 8" EdgeHD flat-field and coma-free optical tube was made to accommodate modern imaging with cameras of all types, especially la rger format CCD and DSLR cameras. The EdgeHD optical tube is Fastar-compatible for ultra-fast f/2 wide field imaging with an option al, third party lens assembly.
Perfect for Visual Use or Beginning Astroimaging
This telescope is an excellent instrument for those looking to explore astroimaging. It's the only fork-mounted telescope in its price range that offers brass worm gears along with improved motors, which provide great tracking accuracy. Capture images of the Moon and planets by attaching any planetary imaging camera. You can even experiment with imaging brighter deep-sky objects like the Orion Nebula with your DSLR camera.
As you progress in the hobby of astroimaging, turn your alt-azimuth mount into equatorial setup by adding the Wedge for NexStar Evolution. This accessory will enable you to achieve longer exposures for more detailed astrophotos. The NexStar Evolution mount also features a built-in lithium-iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery with enough power for 10-hour astroimaging sessions.
Accessories Included
The NexStar Evolution 60th Anniversary Edition is unique among Celestron computerized telescopes because it includes more than one eyepiece. You receive 3 high quality eyepieces a 2" E-lux 32mm, a 1.25" Omni 15mm, and a 1.25" Omni 9mm. This eyepiece collection is robust enough to view most any celestial object right out of the box. What's more, your telescope includes a 2" Star Diagonal with 1.25" adapter, the StarSense AutoAlign accessory, and a StarPointer Pro finderscope. The StarSense AutoAlign comes with a hand control, but thanks to the internal WiFi and SkyPortal app, use of the hand control is completely optional.
An optional Barlow lens can provide additional magnification for high-resolution planetary, lunar, and solar imaging. To increase your field of view without sacrificing performance, add the optional EdgeHD reducer lens, bringing your focal ratio down to f/7.
