It's Called a Power Tank for a reason! It comes with a 17 amp Gel cell battery and a charger with every imaginable input source you can imagine! As can be seen on the side it has 2 each 12 volt outlets and a wide selection of other outlets for 5volt and 12volt for tablets and phones , etc for charging and powering while in use ! I also comes with a white flashlight on the front that has multiple led's and is plenty bright so you wont forget anything at the campsite and comes with a red flashlight that is retractable by a wind up cord and has one flashlight bulb inside but should be plenty bright

Works like a charm. I only charge after every 5-6 observing sessions.

This is a great source of power for telescopes and other 12vdc equipment. It has meaningful life, is easy to charge and use. It is also great if you need to change a tire or if stopped on the road as an additional signaling device. It also features and AM/FM radio however I would prefer a CD player. Overall, a great unit and highly recommended!

..that it is advertised to be. Has some nice features that will be handy, and one I don't really need (radio). But for a light evening in the field, this should do very nicely. Did not find any of the drawbacks others had mentioned here or elsewhere. Plus Adorama & Celestron stand behind their stuff.

The Celestron power tank performed more than adequately where I needed portable power. However, it does not have a built-in inverter, so I had to hook up a separate 12V to 120V 500W inverter in order to power any 120V appliance, including a telescope, which requires an AC plug. I even used it to drive a powered 300W audio speaker at full blast for a street parade and ran it for over 3 hours and it did not drain the battery entirely. The built-in flashlight and radio make it ready for use in any emergency situation, so this will go into my home emergency disaster preparedness kit when I'm not using it to power my C8 telescope out in the field. If it had an AC plug and built-in inverter, I would have given it a 5-star.

I use the power tank to power two different medium sized telescopes; a Celestron 925 HD on a CGEM mount, and a TMB 130mm APO refractor on a Meade LX 80 mount. In both cases the Power Tank holds a sufficient charge to power either system for at least 4-5 hours of steady viewing and opreation (I never tried longer than that). However, this is third power tank I have had to buy in the past four years. Because the tanks are very easy to damage beyond repair if you allow them to discharge and sit idle for a few months, or over charge by leaving the tank on the charger more than a day. So, a good piece of equipment to have if you are VERY careful about following the charging instructions. The smaller version seems a bit more forgiving.

The battery tank 17 came fully charged up and I used it for 3 straight nights at about 4 hours a night with no problem at all with my big Celestron C11 telescope attached to my Losmandy G11. I have a NON - GO TO mount, so I can't speak about the current drains if running with high slew speeds on the device. I only draw .5 amps per hour with my scope at 12 volts. It also has an extra 12 volt cigarette lighter on it for using larger powered items like a dew shield, or a ccd camera. These two ports are rated up to 10 amps each which is really nice. I contacted Celestron and they said they can run for 16 hours usually without needing to recharge, and they recommend to charge it atleast once a month even if not using our else you will loose its charging capacity. I just love this Celestron Power Tank 17 and highly recommend the purchase of this.

I use this power tank to drive my Celestron CGEM DX mount. So far it has worked fine. It's powerful enough that I can run a portable hairdryer with it to de-dew my scope, and i've discovered that I can even recharge my mac laptop with it with an adapter, which means the laptop battery isn't the limiting factor in how long I can stay out and photograph. There are 2 cigarette lighter ports and a few other DC outputs as well, jumper cables, a radio, and 2 adjustable lights. It's really good for many things besides astronomy so I didn't feel guilty about buying it. It is a little bit heavy to keep in the car all the time if you obsess over your gas milage but the peace of mind is worth it.

I no longer have to buy and stock up on batteries to run my 'scope when in the field. Worth the price and easy to use.

Runs the Celestron CPC 9.25 as well as the necessary dew strip(s) all the hours needed for several nights of observation.

Lots of cool functions, but this thing is heavy. Also, if you don't turn the switch to on, your telescope will not get any power. You need to tell it when its on, off, or charging. Still, it does what it is supposed to, and has a red light built in that is quite handy for astronomy.
