Questions & Answers

Tori M : Can this be connected directly to the Celestron Omni Barlow Lens 2x 1.25"?
Shopper : A friend of mine has a celestron 8 inch schmidt-cassegrain telescope, I have a Canon 7D camera with the (canon) T-ring adapter. Will this T-adapter work on this particular scope ? I don't have access to the scope yet, but would like to have all needed acces. in hand when I do.BRIAN B : If you already have the "T" adapter for the canon SLR then I can say for sure that the threads are compatible. The only thing is that you will need to ensure that you have the 1.25 'visual back' (piece that actually threads on to the rear of the scope) for the C-8 but that is the most common lens carrier, so odds are really good that you will be ok. The nice thing about this adapter is that it also allows you to put a barlow in between the camera and the telescope.. Enjoy. -BROBERT B : Yes. You just use this to replace the eyepiece. The great majority of telescopes have the 1.25 diameter eyepiece, and this will work in all those, too. There are issues to be aware of. The mount of the scope may not have room for the camera, and the balance may be thrown off by the camera weight. This affects the accuracy of star tracking. The other issue is the focal planes of the C8/7D. After passing through the diagonal, there may not be sufficient focus travel to get focus to your 7D sensor. Mine just makes it to infinity. There is another option, the Celestron 93633A T-adapter, which threads onto Rear Cell, replacing the diagonal assembly, saving about 1.5" of focus. Again, there may not be room for the EOS if you point straight up. I have both of these. The Moon will be 110 pct of the narrow sensor dimension. Use daylight exposure setting - it's basically a beach scene up there. The C8 is f10.KEVIN L : @ danielle K this works fine to take pictures of the moon it all depends on your scope... If you need a close up shot you can purchase a barlow lens for higher magnification... the good thing about this adapter is that it can go either into the eyepiece or the visual back of your telescope....You must purchase a T-mount separately though to match your type of camera as they are camera specificKEVIN L : It should, this is a universal T adapter as it connects into the eyepiece of your telescope.. A T-ring on the other hand is camera specific and must match the type of camera you are using eg . Nikon, Sony, C anon etc...MONTE P : Ask your friend what size eyepiece adapter his scope has. If it's a 1 1/4" eyepiece adapter, this T-adapter will work.DANIELLE K : It works, but depending on the telescope you have you will need something better to take pictures of the moon (an adapter with a lense). I sugest you contact someone with experience or that has your telescope and make sure that it will work fine, unless your interest is only taking pictures of planets. Im sorry Im not a big help.NADIM M : This unit worked on my 4.5in Celestron Newtonian with a Canon EOS t1i DSLR. I suspect it will work on yours too but first make a measurement of the diameter of the tube where you insert the eye piece and double check it is 1 1/4 in. Good luck.CARROLL S : this type is mainly for high power imaging with a barlowJAMES B : This adaptor slides into any telescope that has a 1.25 inch visual back but also requires a T-ring that is able to mate with your Canon camera. The Canon T-ring will screw onto this adaptor and provide the correct interface for your camera.STEVEN F : I bought one and it should work fine for you. I have tied adapters thar are straight but this puts the camera at a tough angle to operate and focus. I have been inserting the t-adapter into the Diagional like a lens and the camera is easy to use. I just ordered an Orion 80mm short. Looking forward to using the t-adapter with it.CORY B : As long as the eyepiece on the telescope is 1.25 sized opening it should be fineKENNETH M : yes
GORDON G : Does this adapter have any lenses in it? I have a T-adapter already that has a 2X Barlow. I DO NOT want the magnification of the 2X. I don't want to buy this if it's a Barlow.JOHN W : The adapter you ask about fits into a 1.25 inch eyepiece focuser. It has no lenses, but on the opposite end (top in the image) has threads to mount onto a T-ring, which is used for prime-focus photography.RAY D : The Celestron T-adapter has neither optics nor the capability of fitting over an eyepiece. It goes into a 2 1/4" focuser in place of an eyepiece and together with a T to camera adapter (Canon EOS in my case) allows prime focus on sensor or fim. --no optics, no Barlow and no eyepiece; that last requires a universal T adapter which this Celestron disappointingly is not. It did give me wonderful 10mm images of the 6/5 transit of Venus through a 1000mm scope directly into my Rebel XSi. Ray DJEFF S : I bought one. No lens in it, just a tube. I tried it in my NexStar 6, Orion 90 Mak, and my 70mm reflector - fits just fine. Other than adding a bit of weight, and about an inch of travel, everything else stays the same. Using it with my Canon T2i, and the T-ring from Adorama.RONALD J : No, this is not a barlow. It is strictly for adapting your Canon camera (or whatever model you buy - make sure to match it to your camera brand) to fit into the 1 1/2 eyepiece hole in a standard telescope focuser. I've used mine many times and it works wonderfully.MONTE P : No. It has no lens.THOMAS F : Mine has no lenses at all. It's just a straight, hollow tube.STEVEN S : This adapter has no lens in it, so it should be what you are looking for.RICHARD S : There is no lens at all. It is just a hollow tube.JAMES B : Dear Gordon, There is no lens in this adapter; it is an opern barrel. It is threaded for a T-ring on the larger end and is a standard 1.25 dia slip-in at the other end. I have three or four of these and find them very useful adapters. JimPAUL B : This part does not have a lens but a similar appearing more expensive part does use a 2x barlow. This part is threaded for optional small 2x barlow lenses or 1 1/4 filters from other Celestron kits. I use it as a backfocus extender.BRIAN B : No glass, just an adapter.. and a very good one...BRIAN C : No, it's not a barlow . there is no lens as part of the system it simply screws into the regular t-adapter. It does allow you add yous camera to yous refractor or SCT easily . I must say in a T-adapter there normally is not a barlow . This is a very handy and simple device.

Astrophotography

I use this with my Canon 90D and Celestron Evo 6. Works perfectly. Love the photos I have been able to take and I'm looking forward to getting more complex shots. Please keep in mind this turns your telescope into your camera lens. You cannot use the telescope lenses with this and your camera. That takes another adapter piece.

Works as designed

This is a basic camera T-Adapter for attaching a camera via a T-Ring (not provided) for mounting in a 1.25" eyepiece holder. Seems fairly sturdy though this comes at a price of being thick walled as it is made of plastic.

Telescope/ Nikon Adapter

Everything fit perfectly, however my Nikon will not fire due to not recognizing the adapter as a lens. I will have to find the settings that will allow my camera to work with this set up.

Finally Taking Pictures!

After trying to get the right equipment for astrophotography, this lens finally got me there. The only thing I don't like about the setup is that I cannot "zoom" in/out. The image size is fixed, but worth it to finally take some good pictures.
