Darryl B : Can the Celestron Ultima 100 Spotting scope be mounted to a camera tripod?GORDON C : Yes, but the tripod must be a sturdy one. I use a BogenmManfroto Professional Model 3246. Light weight tripods do not provide the stability needed for the heavy Ultima 100 scope. Also, with the heavy-duty tripod the mounting adjustment plate is not need.TIMOTHY B : Yes-standard thread. Use a sturdy tripod; it's heavy.DONALD E B : Yes, it fits quite nicely, especially since Celestron includes a balancing mechanism which keeps the scope steady.
Shopper : Is there an adaptor that works with a D5000 Nikon?DAVID K : i bought the Celestron Ultima 100 for use as a spotting scope for target shooting. Sorry I don't know anything about it's use with adapters. I can tell you that I like the scope very much, and would definitely recommend it.GORDON C : I purchased an adaptor for a Canon T1i and it works well. I cannot advise on availability of an adaptor for your Nikon.

Outstanding Scope

I have used scopes purchased by US wildlife services, and they are pretty nice. When I read about this one, I thought I would give it a try, and it sure beats 20000 bucks for one. I was impressed with this scope. I use it primarally to watch birds. The field is bright, and very little loss at high magnifications. I would recommend this scope to anyone, especially if you don't want to pay thousand of dollars for one like it.

I would highly recommend this product

Nicest and clearest spotting scope I have ever owned. Optics are bright and crystal clear. No color fringing that I can see and no distortion.

• The largest aperture scope in the Ultima line, the 100mm Ultima offers more than 50% brighter images than the 80mm, allowing for better performance in low light conditions. The 100mm refractor features excellent multi-coated optics packed into a portable and durable refractor design and comes standard with a 22-66x zoom eyepiece.
• This series was designed to perform well in a range of viewing situations, making it a great all-around optical instrument. You'll love it for observing nature and long distance spotting. The green rubber optical tube allows for subtle observation in any nature environment. Ultima spotters are a great companion for any nature or outdoor enthusiast.
