Questions & Answers

Shopper : I want to use this mic with a voice recorder for minutes of church meetings ???MICHAEL T : Yes this will work well for your applicationRICARDO S : I have tried using mine with my ipad, iphone and smart phone and i don't notice a differnce in the volume. I have also tried it on my Nikon camera while trying to shoot video. When i plug it into the mic port, it shuts off the sound on the video. Not sure if my particular mic is a dud.BEKAYE R : This mic is geared toward cell phones. What kind of voice recorder will you be using?STUART E : I use mine on my iPhone and a recorder app. It definitely does better than the built-in iPhone mic alone, but you still need to be within 10 feet or so. In a meeting with everyone sitting around a table it would be okay. Sitting in the corner of a large room you'll probably only get people near you speaking.RUTH W : This mic works great with the AudioNote Notepad and Voice Recorder app on my iPhone.BARRY A : Notice the pin configuration. There are three contact areas that will not necessarily match the internal configuration of your device. I works fine with the Ipad but not with my digital recorders or on my Sony laptop.ANTHONY H : I think it will be effective. I have used the mic mostly for close up recording, but I found it very clear and free from the unwanted rustle noise often encountered with typical miniature recorders. Good luck with your parish church meetings! Deacon TonySRIRAM K : This is a directional microphone and is good for one-on-one interviews. For recording meeting minutes, you are probably better off using the built-in microphone as it would be more directionalADAM B : That shouldn't be a problem. I use mine to record the minutes of out association meetings. Usually 10-15 people, sitting around a rectangular table with my device in the center of the table.JOSEPH K : Yes it does well in a public area however will pick up background noises as well.
Shopper : Does it enhance using the iPhone as a PHONE? Either in speakerphone mode, or holding it to your ear?STUART E : It cuts out the speaker functoin when you plug it into the jack. You wouldn't be able to hear the other person's conversation. It does do a pretty good job of recording with one of the recorder apps. i've been able to record a speaker 15-20 feet away. But no speaker.MICHAEL M : I think it just is a microphone.NANCY C : I tested that with iphone 5, and seemed to improve voice transmission, BUT, I could not hear people on the other end. Very unscientific. Call my brother earlier, he could hear me, I couldn't hear him. Called my landline, one phone each ear, same result...one way communication. Might be a great tool for calling one's spouse..."Sorry honey, I can't hear what your saying..."ANDREW R : Unfortunately no, this unit is really designed to improve audio recording.
Shopper : Does it work with loops?GREG K : I do not know anything about "loops". I can say it is a high quality product from construction point of view. I tried to use it in a very high volume environment to improve the sound input of standard iPhone and I could not find a way to stop clipping. I think it was not the right product for my situation. If I was using this to get really good quality sound at say a conference talk this would be perfect. Nice quality, good price but like many audio-visual stuff you have to match the product to the situation. No complaints and Adorama is a great company. RICARDO S : The one i got didn't work with my Nikon cameras (d7000 and 3200) it was spotty with my smartphone. It is useless for my needs.MARY G. J : Tried the mike with several different recording apps... works with all... makes the input noticeably LOUDER so watch clipping!ANDREW R : I believe that would depend on your recording application.

It works OK.

I bought this for my daughter's iPod. It does what it says, it will record sound. I also tried this on two different Android phones from Samsung. The built in microphones in the phones provided better sound in the playback. Bottom line, if you don't have a mic in your electronic device, it's great. If you do have a mic in your device, your mileage may vary.

Edutige EIM-001 I-Microphone Condenser M

Bought it to use in a seminar setting in a hotel small ballroom with about 40 attendees. Seated about 10-15 feet from speaker, and used with my iPad3 or my iPhone5. Used it only 2 or 3 times. Didn't find that it made much of an improvement, if any, in the sound clarity or volume built into the devices.

Does this work?

I use this product to record myself during spoken presentations with the iPad from 8-20 ft away. In my experience the EIM-001 iMicrophone is no better or only slightly better than the built in microphone on the 2nd generation iPad. For me there is no improvement in sound quality or in the ability to capture the speach. I have found this to be true in different size rooms, with different levels of ambient noise and at a variety of distances. This is also my experience whether I am stationary or moving while speaking.
