I purchased this device from Adorama (via Amazon) to replace the Teredek Vidiu, which had limited battery life (1 hr) and limited usefulness for my workflow. The Cerevo LiveShell 2 is a brilliant piece of technology. From what I have read about previous devices, this version is much improved. Like the Vidiu and similar devices, LiveShell 2 accepts HDMI input and can stream live to any RTMP based CDN such as Ustream, LiveStream SermonNetwork (the service we recommend and use), YouTube and all the others. This device looks sleek and has great features for $ including: Up to 720p output, Ethernet and WiFi inputs, and THREE HOURS of battery life. It also includes a built-in RTSP server that can send video/audio over a WLAN to iPad (late models) apps life Teredek Live:Air, VLC, or any other RTSP compliant app including Wirecast Pro. (LiveShell cannot simultaneously output RTMP and RTSP.) Cerevo LiveShell 2 can be configured on the device, or better yet, configured using a web browser based Dashboard. Another nice feature: Device settings such as WiFi and your CDN setup can be synchronized to the device using a 1/8 stereo cable connect to the device and headphone jack of laptop/computer. This is an interesting method since the device has mini-USB input as well. I presume audio tones are used to transmit settings (like modems). Once configured for a network/CDN, settings can be recalled on the device. From there, just connect your camera or other HDMI output (such as from Blackmagic Design ATEM Television Studio), and start live streaming to the Internet. When using the LiveShell RTSP server, send your video feed to an app like Live:Air or Wirecast Pro, and stream from your iPad. My use case for Cerevo LiveShell 2 is completely wireless event live streaming using a pro camcorder alone, or the camcorder sending RTSP feed to iPad Pro running Live:Air or to a laptop running Wirecast Pro.
