The lens coating and cementing process involves evaporating minerals at high temperatures in a vacuum to create a thin film on the glass. The edging process ensures that the glass diameters are perfectly round, and the lenses are meticulously tested, checked, modified, cleaned, and rechecked during the cleaning and assembly process.

The optical design of this lens is tailored to deliver maximum performance at full aperture, with superior control of flare, distortion, and spherical aberration. The Cooke PANCHRO/i Classic FF 18mm lens boasts a maximum aperture of T2.2.

The lens features our Academy Award-winning cam-style focus movement, coupled with the added benefit of a large lens barrel diameter, allowing for an increased number of focus markings, especially at close focus. A four-point contact bearing ensures a smooth, positive, backlash-free movement.

The ergonomically designed focus scale marks change from conventional focus scale distance marks to magnification ratio marks through the movement. At the factory, every focus mark is individually calibrated and engraved on both sides of the focus barrel.

The /i Technology is accessible via a cable connector near the lens mount and contacts in the mount that sync with /i compatible cameras and accessories. The lenses are designed for all shooting applications, including handheld and Steadicam, providing a comfortable balance ratio with the latest compact cameras.

All Cooke PANCHRO/i Classic FF lenses have a common fixed front diameter of 110mm, with a focus drive gear of 140T x 0.8 mod and an iris drive gear of 134T x 0.8. They are color balanced, color-matched, and compatible with other Cooke Lenses.
