This stuff evaporates in an instant -- usually leaving zero residue. If anything happens to be left behind, it buffs off very easily with a lint free cloth.

I wouldn't use anything else on a sensor. It works well with sensor swabs. Gave it 4 stars because it's pricey.

one pack of Pec Pads and a 2oz. bottle of eclipse is like a life time supply of sensor swabs for $20! Why spend big $ on pre made swabs when you can make your own cheap?

This product is the right answer for getting rid of pesky spots and dust on your sensor. Can also be used to clean lenses and filters. You must have a lighted magnifier to clean a sensor effectively and it takes a steady hand and a lot of patience to get the job done. Don't expect this to be quick and easy.

Neither my local shop nor Canon could (or would) get the spots off of my sensor. This stuff, used with the swabs in accordance with the instructions, did the job very well. Watch the instructional video and pay attention and it will work great.

I bought this to replace a bottle that I lost. I have gotten lubricant splatters on my sensor a few times and this is the product that I use to clean them off. Sometimes it does take a few tries to get the sensor completely free of the residue. I also use this product on lenses when needed.

I had what appeared to be a small oil spot on the sensor of my Nikon D800. I decided to try to clean it myself. I bought this fluid in conjunction with the Sensor Swabs. It worked perfectly on the first try! Definitely worth buying. It's good to know how to thoroughly clean a sensor yourself, rather than having to send or take it in for service.

Cleaned my sensor really well without any streaking. I think the key is to not overly soak your wipes in solution to avoid any residual solvent, but it should evaporate.

The solution works very good in cleaning the LED on a Nikon D700. The problem is not with the solution, but with how to apply the solution to the LED sensor. You must have additional Sensor Swabs to use the solution. It then takes 2-3 cleanings to get the dust specks off the sensor. One simply cleaning will not get all the dust. Using it does save an expensive camera repair cost and a trip to the repair shop.

After shooting film for years and years, I am a late-comer to digital. I own a full-frame DSLR (the EOS-1Ds). Owning nothing but prime lenses, I often must change lenses in the field. Each lens change creates an opportunity for dust to land onto the sensor, which, of course, creates spots in the images. Bummer. So, the question becomes, "Do I learn how to clean the sensor myself, or, do I send it out at great expense, with no guarantee that it will get cleaned completely?" So, I decided to learn how to clean the sensor myself. The bottom line is that this product works great. I used it with the Photographic Solutions Type 3 Sensor Swab (the full-frame size), and that combination is very effective. (I highly recommend purchasing an LED-lit sensor loupe of your choice; it just makes the process less complicated and less time-consuming.)

This solution does work great overall.. It leaves streaks sometimes but nothing that a 2nd pass with a clean swab doesn't take care of...

If you need an optical cleaning solution look into the Zeiss ammonia-free stuff (it has a spritzer). If you need something to "wet" clean your sensor Eclipse is as good as it gets. There's nothing better out there. While DIY sensor cleaning isn't for everyone, this is the best solution to use for those who do.

This cleaning solution was recommended to me by a professional photographer. I had already purchased the cleaning swabs but I wasn't sure about the proper cleaning solution. I am glad I purchased this solution. It cleaned the sensor well and I haven't seen any problems since the cleaning.

When I first purchased my camera, I had no idea what was going on with spots on my shots. I went through many products to clean my lenses; and I also returned/exchanged every lens I had for my new SLR. Since my camera was purchased new, in the box, direct from the manufacturer; how can it be possible that the CCD sensor could be dirty? Apparently that was the case, though. A couple of drops of this on a Pec*Pad, wrapped around a sensor swab, and most of my spots disappeared. With an extremely spotted sensor (thanks Canon), I only went through this motion 3 times to get my sensor clean, clear, and ready for action. After each swab, check your sensor with an f-stop at 36 (or close to it), turn the lights down low, and with a long exposure against a white background. You'll see all the spots that you need to get rid of.

News as of April 2007. Do not use Eclipse on the 5D. You MUST use Eclipse 2. Be carefull.

well some times works other times it doesn't, I noticed it leaves film layer on the sensor, I dropped the eclipse and swabs all together, the swabs to go with eclipse are pretty darn expensive, there are other cheaper effective swabs in the market

For CCD & CMOS
ECLIPSE lens cleaner is the highest purity lens cleaner available, containing less than 5 parts per million (ppm) of contamination (the whitish residue left after evaporation)
It dries as quickly as it can be applied leaving absolutely no residue, making it the only recommended cleaner for CCD and CMOS sensor cleaning when used with Sensor Swabs. When used with PEC*PAD photo wipes, Eclipse is also safe and ideal for lens and filter cleaning.
For lenses & other optics
When used with PEC*PAD photo wipes, it is possible to clean only the portion of lens which is dirty eliminating "hazy swirls". Dispense several drops onto a clean, folded PEC*PAD and lightly wipe surface in a single direction.
Refold pad to expose a clean side and re-wipe as necessary. Other lens tissues may not work as well, and some experimentation may be required. Each box contains a 59 ml. (2fl. oz.) bottle with dropper applicator.
