When paired with PEC-12 cleaning solution, the PEC-Pads do a great job cleaning prints for scanning. Little or no lint shedding.

Very good. I used them to clean my scanner glass with PEC-12 solution and it sparkled. I plan to use it to clean old negatives too.

I've been cleaning up and scanning a lot of 35mm slides recently. I just cut one of these pads into quarters, wrap it around a q-tip, add a drop of PEC-12 emulsion cleaner and swab away. Works like a charm.

Pec Pad wipes are the only wipes I completely trust for cleaning sensitive surfaces such as camera sensors and coated lens glass. They are soft, lint-free and tough. Essential.

I've been using Pec Pads in combination with Eclipse cleaning solution to clean off my lenses for years now. The trick is to use just a small amount of the cleaning solution, so you don't leave streaks behind. These sheets are an essential part of my kit for cleaning lenses, my camera bodies, and even my glasses.

I haven't yet used these for cleaning film, but along with the PEC 12 solution, they seem to be exactly what I need for cleaning dust from negatives and slides before scanning.

We use the wipes for working with archival film and find them better than anything else we've used. No scratching, no lint.

High Quality and Priced right

Best optical cleaning pad and at a good price.
PEC PADs are strong, non-abrasive, lint-free and pure (99.999%). They are so soft and versatile that they can be safely used to clean all types of sensitive surfaces such as scanners, CD's, mirrors, lenses, telescopes, even ink jet print heads. PEC PADs are available in two convenient sizes: The 4 x 4" (10 cm.sq.) wipes are perfect for cleaning 35mm film and other small areas as well as lenses and other sensitive optics.
Using Pec Pads on Photographic Emulsions with Pec-12:
PEC PADs can be safely used on all hardened photographic emulsions, including films and papers. Extreme care must be used with 35mm chromogenic film because the base of these films are very easily scratched. PEC PADs can also be used on coated or uncoated photographic lenses, binoculars and telescopes without scratching delicate coatings. Put the image to be cleaned onto a sheet of glass (light table) or onto the emulsion side of a clean old scrap RC print. Dispense a few drops of PEC-12 onto a clean PEC PAD.
With the gentle pressure of two or three extended fingers start at one end of the film/print to be cleaned and smoothly move your fingers toward the opposite end in a straight line removing contaminants from the emulsion by transferring them to the PEC PAD. Extremely grimy stains (such sticky tape residue) may need a second or even a third pass (using a clean PEC PAD and additional PEC-12). Any material applied with enough pressure will ultimately cause scratches, but normal, prudent use of PEC PADs will provide scratch free cleaning of slides, negatives and prints.
Remember:
When cleaning with PEC-12 one pass with very light pressure will clean non water-based stains. If one light pass doesn't appear to have an effect on a stain, it may be water-based and further rubbing will not help and may damage an emulsion. When cleaning areas which are heavily soiled (laser separation oil, heavy ink marks, tape residue etc.) use more than one PAD to avoid smearing the stain. You may rotate the PEC PAD to expose a clean area and thus clean several images before discarding.
Using PEC PADs on Optical Glass Surfaces (Not Sensors) with Eclipse or Aeroclipse:
When properly used with Eclipse Optic Cleaner or Aeroclipse, PEC PADs make it possible to clean only the dirty portion of a lens or other optical surface which eliminates the problem of "hazy swirls". Simply dispense several drops onto a clean, folded PEC PAD and lightly wipe surface in a single direction. Start at the center and work your way to the outer edge. Slide the PEC PAD off the edge of the lens f never from the center. Handle the PAD as little as possible to minimize transference of finger oils. Refold pad to expose a clean side and re-wipe as necessary. When gently used, PEC PADs are safe to clean plexiglass and are ideal for cleaning picture frames, glass, CD's etc.
PEC PADs are NOT recommended for cleaning CCD sensors in 35mm DSLRs. Because they cannot control how carefully you handle the material while storing, folding, assembling or applying their Eclipse or Aeroclipse, Photographic Solutions cannot approve or warranty the CCD or any camera part from any damage caused by homemade swabs or kits assembled by third party resellers.
