Disappointing piece of equipment or at least not easy to use

The lights are very bright and placed so that light reaches all points. The magnification is very strong, as well. This tool can be used for many things besides photography. However, I would recommend that you not use it in conjunction with anything that would have dust, sand, or anything abrasive that might adhere to it and fall into the camera. I think this is a great product, and I'm very happy with it.

I bought this item in the middle of a 5 week photo trip to So. Calif. I was having trouble with dust spots even tho I thought I was cleaning the sensor. With this product you KNOW if your sensor is clean! It is the best product I have gotten since going digital!!!

any dust glows brightly. Even specks you wouldn't have notice without it.

The sensor loupe does exactly what it is supposed to do: show dust on the sensor in a quick and easy way. Seems a bit expensive for what is basically a magnifying glass with a built in flashlight and you could accomplish the same thing by shooting a white wall or a blue sky. That said, I use it all the time, so I would say it is worth it overall.

Allows you to see the sensor on Nikon D80 and Canon 5D. Very satisfied.

This is used every time I change a lens while in the studio and at the end of every day when in the field. Quick and easy to use.

Taking a picture to see where the dust spots are is one thing, but there's nothing like seeing the dust with your own eyes! Allows you to very quickly see whether you're done cleaning, or if you still have work to do. Great design.

After reading several reviews I decided on this product over a competing product, and remain convinced this is the better product. Not only is the magnification excellent and the LEDs provide bright, but the unit is packaged in a micro fibre draw string bag which fits into a vinyl zippered case. This is far more than one might expect. The unit allows easy identification of tiny dust specks whether on the mirror or sensor. It fits snugly over the lens mount opening in my D200 and allows me to do a much more efficient job of cleaning. So what's the problem. After only 6 weeks of use the on-off switch that controls the light would no longer stay in the on position. [...] Too bad; it's a great product.

I have been using my Canon 5D for 10 months and changing lenses frequently... and then it started to happen. Spots that weren't from dust on the lens. And it got worse.I looked at the sensor (for the first time) and could not see anything. Then I started to research cleaning tools and settled on Visible Dust. With the Brite Vue Sensor Loupe, the spots I could not see, looked like little boulders (not actually) but I could see them clearly. I then had the confidence to do the cleaning. You will also need to get appropriate cleaning tools. This product only shows the dust. I highly recommend this product if you change lenses and have the need to clean the sensor. Before I used it, I had no idea what it was I needed to clean, or how I was doing. But with this tool I can see what needs to be done and afterward, how well it was done. This gives you confidence to do it yourself rather then sending it out.I'm not sure why someone would critique the switch or the construction. My loupe seems well constructed. The cost is a personal valuation, but this is minimal to the cost of my camera.[...]

The price seems high for so much plastic and a mediocre build quality/finish. I suspect that the flimsy sliding switch will give out eventually, but it's a must-have for anyone who cleans their own sensors. You can see the crud before you clean and then can check to make sure it's all gone, which saves having to go back in again later. Mine came with two sets of button batteries, and plenty of its own "visible dust" that needed to be cleaned off first.

The best way to check the sensor for dust! Much easier than the white background method

Really a Great! piece of equipment. I can finally actually see the dust causing the artifacts in the images. Easy to use. Strongly recommend.

This is well worth the money. The led really helps you identify the dust on your sensor better than the naked eye.

I use the lighted loupe constantly for cleaning the CCD, but also all inside the camera. Absolutely essential. I also use it as a normal loupe for maps, drawings, photo print detail, and many other uses. It is several times more expensive than other lighted loupes but is in a class of its own.

After taking pictures of Capitola Village with my Canon 5D, I could see spots in the sky that shouldn't have been there. The lens wasn't very dirty. When I got home, I found the sensor loupe had arrived. I put it on the body and I could see several specks of dust?? on the sensor filter. I used the Visible Dust arctic butterfly to brush the sensor very carefully for a few cycles. Afterwards I could see the sensor was clean with the sensor loupe. If you want to check your camera, take a picture of a piece of white printer paper or a white photo file on your monitor. If you have a digital SLR, you will need one of these.

Utilizing advanced (patent pending) features such as BriteVue technology with high optical magnification and 6 super bright LEDs, the SensorLoupe is the only tool you need for locating debris on your sensor.
The high quality optical glass coated with MgF2 to reduce chromatic aberrations and to seal the lens so that no mildew buildup occurs. The high caliber materials used in construction of the SensorLoupe provide a high resolution, distortion free, crystal clear image of the sensor. The BriteVue design aids to easily spot dust on the sensor, succeeding where other tools fail.
The angled configuration of the 6 intensely lit LEDs, similar to that used in satellite imaging, provides a three dimensional image of the debris as opposed to linear lights of ordinary Loupes on the market. Other features include: • compact design • easy on/off switch • high grade materials • easy access to clean lens • neck strap • synthetic leather carrying case with belt clip
The SensorLoupe from Visible Dust makes it easier then ever before in locating even the smallest dust speck without resorting to time consuming inspection through a computer monitor.
The Sensor Loupe (patent pending) is the trademark of Visible Dust.
