I thought it was too expensive and be of only middling use but it's definitely worth the money. It takes all the guess work out of cleaning your sensor. You can clearly see any dirt and, more importantly, see when there isn't any. If something happens to mine, I'll buy another in a heartbeat.

Once you get the light to turn on it does the job intended. The switch to turn on the light is really flaky. Somtimes it works, sometimes not. You have to play with it. THes switch doesn't have a quality feel.

The Brite Vue helps locate dust particles so you can remove them without an excessive cleaning process.

If you are going to do your own sensor cleaning you NEED this. No more running the F22/F32 sky test to see if you got all the dust off the sensor. Weather you use a dry or wet method of cleaning the dust off the sensor or mirror, or own a Canon,Nikon or Sony this is what you need. I purchased the other cheaper loupes and only the Quasar does what it suppose to do.

Exactly what I expected, but way too expensive. Wishing it was focusable with much higher magnification. I still have to take pictures of the sky to ensure/verify removal of all foreign matter from the DSLR image sensor.

Returned from europe and photos had 2 dark spots, apparently from lens changing. Attempted in camera sensor auto-cleaning to no avail. This device clearly located the particles and I was able to blow them out. Did not have to use the wet swabs at all or send the camera to the dealer for cleaning.

Must have for viewing your sensor. I had cleaned mine, thought it was fine and then looked at it through the loupe only to still see some specks. Glad I had purchased this product!

I finally got my sensor cleaned! A few years ago, I bought a second hand DSLR from a friend. The sensor was already scattered with dust, but over the years I also added my share of dust to the collection. My first attempt was to use a blower to blow dust away. This just made things worse. My next attempt was to use wet swabs (my sensor is a full-frame). This got rid of most of the visible dust, but after doing the f22 check, I can still see a lot of small dust as well as some stains left behind from the wet swabs. Repeating the "wet cleaning -> f22 check" cycle several times proved to be way too cumbersome. I finally got fed up and purchsed this loupe. Now I can see everything that needs to be cleaned without the f22 cleaning step. All I have to do is do a visual check and catch everything I missed. One thing that became apparent to me was that it is almost impossible to clean the corners of the sensors with a sensor swab. I had to got hold of some medical grade q-tips with pointy cotton tips to get the corners cleaned. FYI: If you are OCD, don't get this loupe. You WILL see all dust that could have otherwise been ignored without any impact to your photo results. Trying to make your camera sensor 100% dust free is nearly impossible.

This loupe is VERY over-priced for what it is. The lights are bright but the housing is lightweight plastic. This is a $25.00 light at most! They put it in a fancy plastic box with foam inside. For [$] I expect a magnesium housing with rubber grip. Save your money and get something cheaper.

As many reviews mention before, this is an expensive light but does the job. My comment, however, is I was at [...] and saw a 7x LED lighted magnifier for $7 bucks and bought it wondering if it would do the job of the Dust Brite. I am happy to report that this failed miserably so my investment turned out to be golden.

A usable lighted loupe to examine sensor for dust. Works well with the other visible dust sensor cleaning products, but is designed to be used to examine the sensor before and after cleaning. Would be hard to use during the actual sensor cleaning process. LEDs are angled to better illuminate the dust particles, but I am not sure that I can appreciate this effect.

This product is great. It fires right up and you're able to see dust right on the spot.

The Visible Dust 7x loupe enables a clear magnified view of the sensor surface. A bit overpriced, for the money I would expect a cnc machined housing with rubberised coating. But, the optics are there.

Trust me, O.K. Don't but this Loupe is great, it is right on and does more than they stipulate in specs... This thing is great for jewelery, coins, stamps and very close inspection of film negatives and slides, that is if you are still a photog not sold out to digital!! Anyway, this is the best Loupe out there. Dust is a problem on digital sensors as well as dirt, dust and scratches on film. Just get one, you will love it!! V/R KMW

This is an essential tool for all DSLR photographers who clean their own mirrors and sensors. And this sensor loupe is of great quality and very easy to use. I cannot think of not having this in my tool kit.

This is an essential tool for finding dust on your mirror or sensor. The bright magnification makes this an easy task.

This product makes sensor cleaning fast and frustration-free. Say goodbye to the "take a picture of the sky at f/22, download the image onto the computer, look for dust, try to figure out where dust in the image would actually be on the sensor, clean the sensor with blower or brush, take another picture to check your results, repeat process over and over..." routine. This loupe lets you see every bit of debris on your sensor and enables quick feedback after a cleaning pass. This means that you can quit cleaning when you decide your sensor is clean enough, not when frustration has broken your will to continue. Is there a downside? Definitely. The loupe exhibits serious pincushion distortion and...kidding. The product is overpriced in relation to what it costs to manufacture but, having said this, it's worth it. I will live longer because of the frustration it eliminates when my sensor needs a cleaning.

Dust on your sensor is hard to see and takes a lot of time to clean up in postprocessing. This device is great for seeing dust or the absence of same (which is also important to know so you don't clean the sensor unnecessarily). It seems expensive for a simple device but it works so well it is worth it. I won't travel without it now.

I can see every visible dust in my sensor and helps me clean it better and faster. I recommend using the blower first and then checking the sensor.

I shoot outdoors in conditions which generate alot of dust...race tracks. Since I don't have a second body I am left with changing lenses in the field. If you plan on cleaning your DSLR sensor then you've got to get yourself one of these things. This is the perfect companion to the Arctic Butterfly and the cleaning swabs from Visible Dust. Right out of the box the loupe told me what I wanted to know...just how dirty is my sensor? Man it was nasty. IMHO this is the only way to know the thing is clean after using any cleaning tools. Sure the swabs and the Butterfly are great tools but the sensor loupe is the best. It won't leave my kit at home or on the road.

this helped me see how dirty the sensor was in my Rebel XT.... Much easier than the f22 picture method!!! Its not cheap ,, but then again what is!!! I love this loupe!!!

Clear View of Sensor

Clean my sensors
The Brite Vue Quasar 7x Sensor Loupe is a product that is specifically made to examine the ensor of a DSLR with a new higher magnification of 7x, versus the original Sensor Loupe which has a magnification of 5x.
Dust is an inherent problem when it comes to DSLR's and poses many problems for any photographer. Image quality is degraded and many hours of editing must be carried out to retouch any pictures with expensive digital imaging software. Also it takes a lengthy process to determine if the sensor is actually dirty, taking test shots and examining them once again with expensive digital imaging software. This may not be practical when a photographer is out in the field.
Developed within the VisibleDust research lab the Sensor Loupe is specifically tailor-made for examining the sensor of a DSLR. The new Sensor Loupe 7x has a higher magnification and more in depth view for checking the DSLR chamber and sensor. Because of its awkward location, deep with the camera chamber, illuminating the senor is rather difficult and direct light may obfuscate dust by blending it against the sensor. With the unique BriteVue xL lighting system (patent pending) and specially configured array of 6 vivid LEDs and high resolution lens, the Sensor Loupe 7x brings forward the debris in a three dimensional spectacle with a new higher magnification.
The Sensor Loupe was designed to help photographers spend more time taking pictures and less time editing images and cleaning thecamera. With the Sensor Loupe 7x the photographer can easily check for debris in minutes and know exactly if a cleaning needs to take place or if they can continue with a shoot. This will greatly reduce the amount of digital editing a photographer will have to do and also reduce the number of potentially harmful cleanings one may attempt. Also, if debris is located, it may help in determining the type of contamination and the relative course of action for removal.
Although the Sensor Loupe is specifically made for examining the DSLR sensor, its versatile design will prove useful for a yriad of tasks. For example it may be used to examine the chamber area of the camera body, peruse negatives from film style cameras or to inspect the motherboard of a computer.
The compact design of the Sensor Loupe 7x will prove to be a convenience in any photographer's collection of tools. The high resolution lens is constructed of a single 7x magnified K9 optical glass with MgF2 coating to prevent chromatic aberrations. The 6 LEDs in the exclusive BriteVue xL lighting system provide ample lighting for a crystal clear view of the sensor. It also comes witha handy carrying case, a neck strap.
