I had lost my gun 3/4 miles into the wood last October and found this last week end. I wasn’t sure If the laser would have made it through the winter with over 5’ of snow and the melt to say nothing about the rain. I changed the battery with no corrosion and brought the gun out to shoot and didn’t even have to sight the laser in. It was out there for 9 months. Very happy with this product.

I don't understand the comments about not being bright enough. Mine puts a dot out at a good distance outside in the daylight. I also don't understand the comments about too much pressure needed to activate. In fact, I find it difficult not to activate.

Installation is easy. Sighting is easy. Laser could be brighter. Maybe green would be better. The big problem is the activation button. It should protrude a little more. I put a piece of self stick felt on it to make it easier. "Change the button". Make it easier to activate. It's a high price to pay for something you have to tweak on your own.

Bought the grips in 2011 and no issues at all. Super Redhawk, 44 mag. topped with Leopold 2X silver scope makes sighting the red laser dot at long distances, 20 to 100 yds, easy.

I can not exert enough pressure to activate unless i use two fingers and use a tight grip.(which tends to throw my sight picture off.I am 78 so not sure that the problem might come from grip streaght.Althogh the girl at Ruger that i talked to said she had had the same problem with her grips.The not very good answer to the problem is to use a tight grip (unusually tight)and to cover the trigger finger of the right hand with the index finger of the left hand which throws the sight picture off when activating!!!!!This occurred with all 4 lasers i have had.Do not know the answer but seems that the activate button is not getting full contact unless straight back pull is used as if trigger finger alone is used very little pressure is needed.Thank you. knfmkr

The laser works very well, as good as the one on my Beretta 92F. The problem is with the fit. I prefer to have the existing wood panels on the grip. After trying to install them for over an hour I gave up, they WOULD NOT FIT AS STATED in the specs, and yes my GP100 has adjustable sights.

Following up on my earlier review where I compared the brightness of the LG-344 on my GP-100 to the laser on my Kimber crimson trace pro carry II. I have finally realized (I must be slow) that the problem I am experiencing is inherent in pistol vs revolver applications. The laser on my Kimber remains clean and bright because it is not exposed to burnt powder, etc from the cartridge. The laser lens on the grip on my GP100 however is blasted by the spent gases from the rear of the revolver chamber with each shot. The lens gets dirty very quickly and although I clean it with the cottonwool cleaners, it doesn't last very long. Hence the fading away of the laser brightness. I do install new batteries and it makes no difference. Bottom line is that I'm not impressed by laser grips on revolvers, it seems that they should be located under the barrel. IMHO.

Problem with keeping laser clean

Purchased for a duty weapon, this old timer won a shooting competition with these grips - then was disqualified for unfair advantage. I'll take any advantage in a gunfight. After several years of use the laser module diode became non-functional causing the lasergrips to dim. Product was returned to Crimson Trace for repair and was replaced - great customer service. The original wood inserts didn't fit well, but I replaced them with Altamont rosewood insert panels which fit better, not perfect, for the classic Ruger GP-100 look. I prefer the feel of Hogue rubber grips but these feel almost as good even thought they are not finger grooved. The bottom line is that I (a middle aged shooter) shoot better and quicker with this product.

Great Product for Middle Aged Eyes

These lasergrips are an excellent product. I was a little apprehensive about replacing the comfortable factory Hogue grips, but I can shoot hot .357 hunting rounds without any major discomfort to my hand. 
 
 The master switch is nice because it gives you the option to turn them off if you don't want/need the laser. You don't need it on for hunting and you may want to switch it off depending on the home defense scenario as it unfolds to keep your position low key. The factory open sights are difficult to use in low light conditions which is where this product shines. For an intermediate shooter like myself, accuracy is almost identical using the laser compared to open sights.
 
 I did have to determine the exact range I wanted the laser zeroed, being that the point of origin is low and to the right, so I set it up dead nuts for 20 feet for home defense use. Adjustment is simple with supplied hex wrench. So far it has held zero well after shooting roughly 300 rounds.
 
 I am very happy with my Crimson Trace lasergrips.

GP-100 Lasergrips - Great Product

Compared to my other CT lasers, the LG-344 on my Ruger GP-100 is very dim and weak. I have tried new batteries and careful cleaning but the laser is still small and dim. It is particularly bad when compared to the LG-401-P1 on my Kimber which is really excellent. I'm in a quandry as to what to do, because I love CT products. However I can't recommend this one.
