Melissa M : Hello. I am completely new to artificial light and was wondering if this would even work with my Nikon SB 700. If so, what else would I need to get started? Thanks for any help you can give me. :)NICOLE B : Yes this will work with an sb 700. I use sb 600 & 900 with it. RAVI G : Hi Melissa, I have been using the Creative Light 5' Octabox for about 6 months now. I love the ease of use and I also have the speedrings for Bowens and speed lights. The speed light adapter can be used with quantum flashes and Nikon speed lights. You can easily use the 5' box with the SB-700. However, considering the fact that the SB-700 is a lower power unit, I'd recommend removing the inner baffle to have more light. I'd recommend using the SB-700 with the diffuser. You can still use the softbox with the inner baffle but you'll have to boost your ISO to a higher level to match the light. The basic equipment you'll need are: 1. Sturdy stand 2. Sandbag for the stand 3. Your speed light 4. 5' or 3' Octabox 5. Speed ring for speed lights 6. Speed light triggering mechanism (built-in flash or PocketWizard trigger or another type of remote trigger). The closer you keep the softbox to your subject without it entering the camera frame, the softer and more pleasing the light. Should you need more contrast, you can move the softbox farther away from the subject. Overall, I'm extremely happy with the softbox, especially for its ease of assembly and transportation for location shoots. Hope this helps. regards, RaviANDREW R : Yes, this will work with a standard speedlight, such as the SB-700. In addition to the softbox, and a light stand you will also need an adapter ( <a href="http://www.adorama.com/CRL100831.html" target="_blank">http://www.adorama.com/CRL100831.html</a> ) and a method by which to trigger the speedlight (either wirelessly or using a compatible off-camera flash cable).
TINA H : What speed ring is for the Elinchrom rangers?ANDREW R : This unit - <a href="http://www.adorama.com/CRL100830.html" target="_blank">http://www.adorama.com/CRL100830.html</a> - should be the correct fit.
Shopper : Hello?ANGEL L : Great piece of equipment. I use it for both large and individual photos. Broad, soft light at a fraction of the price compared to other high-end modifiers. A little bit of a pain to put together, but this is easily overlooked when you see the advantaged gained from this soft box. Angel Navarro PhotographyCHARLES W : Hello, I have one and love it. Is that your question?

Excellent investment

This is the best investment i ever purchase. I usually use this on studio shoot for fashion with 3 light set up. I love the softness of this Octabox. It does the excellent cover all the lights in one source. The only con i have is that you have to buy the grid for directional lighting: Creative Light RF Series SoftGrid, 150cm/5 and it isn't cheap at all price is $240. If you getting Octabox and you want more directional lighting style, get the grid too, but it isn't easy to fold. This octa is best using a outdoor studio setting. I got the grid along with it when i first brought this octa. It makes a hold lot of different without the grid. I also brought the kicker light with grid as well.

Indredible Octa

I use this with either an Elinchrom a BXRI500 or an Elinchrom D-Lite 400 for portraiture. The softness out of this octa is incredible. I really like CL softboxes, this is my second one. The 5' size is a little overwhelming and you really have to crank down the light to keep it from sagging but the light out of it is worth it. You better make sure you have your light stand secured to keep it from falling over as well. On the down side when I assembled it the first and second time, the speedring, which is 2 parts, separated and is very difficult to get back together. When it happened again I almost returned it but I reassembled it and tightened up the nuts a little more and it hasn't come apart since. Assembling it is a little daunting the first few times but now I have it down to about 10 minutes. The key is to leave the rods on the velcro flap side for last and make sure all the velcro is separated as you attach the rods.

• The Creative Light octagonal softboxes provide a broad light source usually used as a main light or fill but with a significant advantage over square or rectangular designs. Their shape provides natural round catchlights in eyes for beautiful portraits.
• All softboxes feature a removable interior and an external diffuser. When both are used, edge-to-edge eveness is guaranteed. CL Softboxes are constructed with reinforced stitching, ensuring no light is lost through the seams.
• Also unique to CL Softboxes is the use of all flexible steel rods rather than aluminum or fiberglass. The rigidity of steel maintains the shape of the softbox regardless of working conditions. These steel rods form the heat-resistant fabric and are perfect for flash units of any power or continuous lighting up to 500 watts.
