This is probably my favorite film stock. I love the cooler color balance, red halos, and overall look of the film. It's also pretty versatile. You can push it all the way up to 3200 iso and it still looks good. It also looks great in daylight. Only problem is that at $15 a roll it's really expensive.

My go-to film for night photography in the city. I cannot recommend it enough. Make sure you bring a light meter and a tripod.

Fun, interesting film and worth the experiment. Definitely not for a perfectionist.

Under the banner of Cinestill, a brand synonymous with excellence in film production, the 800Tungsten High Speed Color Film emerges as a paragon of photographic versatility and reliability. This 120mm format film is not just any color negative; it is a high-quality, professional-grade emulsion that draws from the revered motion picture technology used by the world's leading cinematographers.
The Cinestill 800Tungsten film is meticulously designed to thrive in challenging low-light conditions, particularly those dominated by tungsten lighting. Its high ISO 800 rating enables photographers to capture sharp, detailed images without the need for additional flash, making it an indispensable tool for indoor and nighttime shoots. The film's remarkable latitude allows for rated ISOs ranging from 200 to 2000, and it can be pushed even further, beyond ISO 3000, to accommodate a wide array of creative demands.
Key Features:
- Tungsten-balanced color negative film, providing a cinematic aesthetic for still photography.
- Factory spooled and equipped with self-adhesive labels for ease of use.
- Free from remjet backing, which adds a distinctive halation effect to the images.
- Versatile in various lighting conditions, yielding diverse visual outcomes.
- When used in daylight, it is recommended to employ an 85 filter and rate the film at ISO 500.
- Capable of push processing up to ISO 3200, expanding the creative possibilities in low-light scenarios.
Cinestill's innovative "Premoval" process ensures that this film is safe for standard C-41 processing, whether in a professional lab or at home. This process also makes the film suitable for a hybrid workflow, perfect for scanning and optical printing on RA-4 paper when processed in C-41 chemistry.
For optimal results, treat this film as an 800 ISO film during C-41 processing and do not hesitate to push process as needed. The recommended ISO and exposure settings for push processing are as follows:
- ISO 800: No push, with an exposure index (EI) of 200-1600.
- ISO 1250: 1-stop push, with an EI of 800-2000.
- ISO 1600: 2-stop push, with an EI of 1250-3200.
- ISO 3200: 3-stop push, with an EI of 1600-3200, yielding added contrast.
To ensure the integrity of the film, unexposed Cinestill 800Tungsten should be stored in a refrigerator and used within six months of purchase, with a shelf life of one year. Exposed film must be processed promptly in C-41 chemicals to maintain the best possible image quality and color accuracy.
While this film is originally designed for ECN-2 processing, it has been tested and proven to deliver consistent results in standard C-41 processing machines, offering photographers a seamless integration into their existing workflows.
The 800Tungsten High Speed Color Film by Cinestill is the consummate choice for photographers who demand the highest quality and flexibility from their film, ensuring that every shot is captured with the utmost fidelity and artistic expression.
