I’ve shot a couple rolls of 35mm Cinestill 50D and have had very good results shooting outdoor scenes on sunny days. The grain is very fine and color is life-like. Both times I shot it at box speed (ISO 50). Even though it is made to develop in standard C-41 chemistry, it’s native chemistry is actually ECN-2 and not widely available. When developed in C-41, you might get a slight warm or green cast.

I bought one roll of 50 ISO to test. Some lengths of the film gave me excellent photos and some sections were horrible. I got a few beautiful prints in bright sunlight, some nice prints in mixed room light but everything else was useless. Sections of film produced brown smeared prints resembling what would occasionally happen to old Polaroid integral 600 films. Also had areas with light leak fogging. I almost sent my camera out for repair until I loaded a regular roll of film to test my camera, which produced normal results. It appears I got a defective roll but this means the film is unreliable. Crazy unpredictable results may be fine for the Holga crowd but no, no, no, it's not for me. I'm glad I only purchased one roll. It is just not worth the unpredictable gamble for me; I will just stick with Portra or any other regular color film.

I really liked Cinestill. It was nearly as good as Portra.

The first roll I shot of this film came out OK...though most shots had a yellow cast. The second roll looked awful. Nearly every frame had a "dried liquid smear" look to it, almost like it had been improperly hung to dry. I looked into it, and apparently this is a common thing with CineStill. Considering the price and the hassle, combined with OK results at best, you might want to look at other films.
