My wife got this for me and I use a 7d dslr. It has improved my shot's tremendously. It is also great for shooting on the move or just setting down for a static shot.

The Camtrol is the manifestation of pure genius. I use it with multiple action cameras, pro video camcorders and the exciting Lumix TS3, GH2 and even my Canon hybrid DSLR's. The low & high angle perspectives achieved with the Camtrol give high value production results for a bargain. As PacWest Conference videographer, I am excited by innovative opportunities the Camtrol has afforded me in volleyball, cross country, & basketball. The History Channel has asked for some Volcano related video work...on the trail over the lava tubes will be a perfect Camtrol challenge. Get a Camtrol today, it will brighten up your work and put excitement into even your most boring assignment. Cheers Mates

Why add Camtrol to your Cinematographic tool box?
Want your shots to be able to pan without being on a slider or tripod, to tilt without a jib, to dolly in or out (or follow or track) and not be tied to a rail system, then the Camtrol hand held stabilizing rig delivers "the freedom in motion" you're looking for to get the creative shots and angles.
For all other motions shots, break loose from the restraints of having your stabilizing equipment tied to your body. Check out Camtrol's hand held shooting rigs for any camera and lenses weighing 8 lbs or less. You'll have unlimited rig configurations and 180 degrees of angles, rather than the typical 30 degrees from the shoulder mounted, body restrained rigs.
What are the unique characteristics of Camtrol? Lightness and portability are essential for all videographers/photographers. When Camtrol is in its collapsed position it measures 11 1/2" long by 6 1/2" wide by 2 1/2" .. it fits easily into any camera bag.
The Prime 22 model weights only 2lbs, 4 oz and is made of aircraft quality aluminum. Most other stabilizers use Gimbals and counterweighs to achieve balance and stability. Camtrol stabilizes all types of cameras-HDSLRs, camcorders, POV and iPhones - by initially tying its 1/4 20" male thumbscrew to each cameras 1/4 20" female center of gravity. Its weight and size provide the first key element necessary for stabilization: width and weight. Next its three balancing channels on its base allow you to find and balance your camera in less than a minute, not the 10-25 minutes necessary to achieve balance with Gimbals and counte rweights. Once balanced with your Camtrol, you'll be able to lift your combined Camtrol and camera setup with one figure and if you change configurations, you do not have to rebalance your setup.

Camtrol's next engineering design that adds to stabilization is its customized vertical stabilizing bar that has 8 air channels drilled inside to provide additional dampening to vibration and shakes. The final stabilization ingredient Camtrols have is its patented kinematic chain of 3 ball joints that act to dissipate movement of your hand.
By separating the shooter from directly touching his camera, Camtrol offers the videographer/photographer the ability to control his camera thru a remote controller mounted on Camtrol's remote mounting plate with its hard wire threaded thru Camtrol's hollow anatomical handle...and thereby allowing the shooter to take ground level shots while standing normally or taking over the crowd shots without standing on ladders or chairs. In less than 60 seconds, Camtrol can be reconfigured from ground level, chest level, shoulder level, or over head shots.
A final unique feature of Camtrols is how they a ct as a suit of armor protection for your camera and lenses. Just extend its four retracable legs and you can safely place your camera on the ground because of Camtrol's quad pods. You can leave your camera on the Camtrol and plug your camera into your computer and use the Camtrol as an editing stand.
