While this is reliable DRAM, BLT2KIT8G3D1608DT1TX0 could not run at advertised speed of DDR3-1600, CL8 on a Dell XPS 8500. It ran DDR3-1333, CL9. This memory requires a motherboard with XMP proflie support to run at advertised speed.

I've had very good performance actions using former Crucial products. In the past I have used a couple other brands, (will remain nameless), and two of four cards had the cooling fins slide off. Never a problem with Crucial. My present computer had 8GB (2x4gb) their ddr3 Ballistix Sport RAM which has worked flawlessly for over three years. A new program I obtained, suggested a minimum of 16 GB to operate properly. Since my motherboard was able to handle 32GB (4x8GB), that is what I went for. After some quick study of ddr3 memory, I found that computer latency(cl) was better with a lower number. (I didn't understand what the other numbers meant.) Naturally I looked at Crucial first then compared them with other manufactures. The Ballistix Sport was similar with a "cl" of 9. Surprisingly other brands were a touch higher priced and many had a higher "cl" number. Then I noticed the Crucial Ballistix Tactical series with a "CL" of 8. When Adorama ran a Christmas sale on the 32GB I wanted, the price difference turned out to be around 10% higher than the slower Sport type. One thing that confused me. When I looked at the sales prices, it was less expensive to buy two sets of 16GB (2x8GB) Tactical memory cards than to buy one set of 32GB (4x8GB). The specifications were somewhat confusing too but in the end, all the Tatical (2x8GB or the 4x8GB) ddr3 memory cards had the same specs. Buying two sets actually brought the price down to a few dollars higher than the Sport model so I went for the faster Tactical type.. After installing the 32GB of Tactical memory, I was very pleased how fast it really was. Going only by my feelings with common programs, (since I don't have any type of speed counter for my computer), everything just seemed to fly. My new program was super fast. Uploads and downloads really started to show me the advantage of the newer USB3.0 ports. To answer the question about if I'm pleased, YES! To answer the question about if I would recommend it to others, definitely YES! The Crucial Ballistix Tactical is very fast, good and has about the best value to me!

The 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) Ballistix Sport Series 240-Pin DIMM DDR3 PC3-12800 Memory Module Kit is a set of 2 memory units, each of which has a 4 GB capacity. Because they're unbuffered, they are faster than registered memory. The modules are non-ECC or non-parity, type, meaning they do not search for errors in data.
Engineered for entry-level and mainstream users, Crucial's Ballistix Sport Series memory modules feature built-in heat spreaders for enhanced thermal performance, standard timings and voltages and proven overall stability and dependability. The memory units are particularly ideal for gaming, delivering fast, reliable performance to help you dominate your competition in the virtual arena. But if gaming is not your forte, you need not worry - Ballistix memory is still a solid choice for you.
Industry-standard specifications allow for easy module installation, with no special or tricky BIOS configuration required. Get up and running in no time. What's more is that the memory supports AMD and Intel platforms, including SandyBridge, for optimal compatibility. This memory will meet or exceed expectations without burning a hole in your wallet.
