I only use it two times in a year. Usefull when you can't put a tripod over a fence or a dead tree. It locks steady when I shoot a 10 min time-lapse with a 2 Kg (4.5 lbs) DSLR camera with ballhead. It's a inexpensive and lightweight accesory to carry just in case.
