Give it a try

I'll say it works, take time to find the right method of shaking but once you get it down it works and seems well made. For the price i do recommend.

Works good

I've had this for 4 or 5 yrs now and it works good for me. I load a lot of mags and rarely have any issues. When i do usually it's my error. I'm happy with it and it saves a bunch of time and my thumbs! 2 thumbs up!!

Great purchase

Love it! Highly recommend to anyone who doesn't want to struggle loading their AR-15. Now I can help my husband load his mags without messing up my nails. :)

Useless

Managed to coax 3 cartridges into a magazine over 15 minutes. Kept the receipt and took it back. The Caldwell speed loader that I use for Ruger rotary magazines is a 5. This one is a waste of money, materials, and time.

No impressed

Not as impressed as I thought I would be. This is for grandkids and reloading 600-700 rounds on a Saturday. Think I can do by hand easier.

Does not work

I bought to speed load my 15-22 mags. I was only able to get one (1) round to very load properly. Do not waste your money on this.

does not work

i bought this yesterday. i tried to load a 60 round and a 30 round mag with 223. after loading the transfer tray you find out that you can not get them to just slide in the bullet will fit but not the shell. so you have to shake them out of the transfer tray and let them fall into the charger. which because it is multi caliber the ammo kind of flops around. then when you try to load a mag they are not lined up with the mag properly. i tried turning on all four sides trying to get them lined up with the mag. i manage to load a total of 13 rounds between the two mags. it is not step loading them into the mag it is loading them side by side which jams up the mag and you can not get any more in it. the rounds are so loose that i now have one round jammed next to the plunger see pictures

caldwell ar-15 22 loader

This thing is a paper weight (with amo in it). Dont waste your money on this hunk of crap! It's a shame I can't enter a -5 for a score.

Absolute Junk

This is absolute junk, do not buy. It's a shame it is even on the market. I can load 3 or more clips by hand before you may get one loaded with this device. Cannot even put into words of how crappy a device this thing is.

It works--After a little learning

There is a learning curve. Took me a few minutes to figure it out. Then it worked as expected. .

Nice, but got to tweek

I got mine, love it! Now in regards to the tweeking, I run steel ammo and will continue to do so. After several tries and frustration setting in. Well 1st, the cartridges was jamming and not loading smoothly at all. I figured, well lube?! So I lightly sprayed ammo down with an old can of Rem Oil I had sitting on my bench. My o my ... butter smooth feeding, no issues at all. So yes, great product, just gotta tweek it. Thanks Caldwell, great product and time savings are incredible.

Garbage

Like most things I've purchased from caldwell this too is garbage. Magazines do not latch in ammo does not load it would be ok if the Magazines would latch in.

Stay Away it's trash

Well should have read these reviews before buying. Crux of the matter is that the mag goes in but seems unable to seat fully against the charger resulting in rounds being dropped into mag weird angles and jamming the mag full of rounds at all types of angles. Also mag release level can get stuck on the inside of mag well if you push it wrong. Sad to see that Caldwell has let quality/TDE levels slip to that of a cheap dollar store product.

Unit is Plastic

Charger advaced three cycles and jamed. I identified problem as slide was binding as it was advancing. The scrap marks on one side of slide of was confirmation of problem. The entire unit is plastic. I called customer service and was provided replacement. Have not used it yet to ascertain if it works properly.

Let down

Bought this loader over the weekend to load my Hammerli Tac R1 as it says "it works with most AR 22's) How can that be, there aren't many companies that make AR-22's and this excludes at least three brands Colt, H&K, and Hammerli, and possibly more, I dont own other brands to test. In the future to avoid customer frustration and negative reviews, only the brands that work with this loader should be labeled on the box, and mentioned in the web description.

Great product!

I've had my Mag Charger for over a year now. I had one minor issue when the charger seemed to jam while empty. I simply loosened the housing screws a few turns and the issue was corrected. I snugged the screws and have had no further issues. I run both .223 a well as 5.56x45 without any problems. Would definitely recommend the Mag Charger to a friend and purchase again myself.

Works Great!

I bought this after reading some of the reviews, which were both positive and negative. Overall, this makes things easier and that?s the whole purpose for me. I found it way easier to just load the rounds individually versus try to put them in the lid and flip it over. I just can?t the thing sideways towards me and you can easily track what you?ve thrown in there. I?ve loaded several hundred rounds so far without a single issue. All I run are PMAgs so I can only say that brand works very well with this from my experience.

Life saver for bad hands

I bought this due too having bad thumb joints and having problems loading mags by hand. It took a little bit too getting used to. With this I do not have to use my thumbs just the palm of my hands to load. The downside is if you are loading a mag that holds less then 50 rds you have too empty the loader and reload with the full 50 rds count to do your next mag. I am glad that I bought it.

Magazine is stuck

I just bought one of these and it seemed to work fine until I was unable to dislodge the full magazine. Any ideas on how to get it out? I have pulled on it, held it with a vise, etc... But nothing seems to work.

Looks nicely made fails to execute the task

Just purchased this having seen it in Cabelas. brought it home and went to test it. Appears the mag is not seating correctly and the bullets are being dropped into the space at an angle and blocking feed. In 1 hour I managed to load a total of 4 bullets. been shooting for a very long time and this is not my first loader. But it is the first that is not up to the job. Was hoping to speed up the entertainment value of my S&W M&P 15-22 which is approaching 18 years. The Mag locks in but there appears to be room for at least 1 bullet between the bottom of the load ramp and the top of the Mag. The ramp angles the bullet rim down to ensure accurate loading. If you angle the unit so the rim end is the leading end, the rest of the bullets fall out of the track. So loading with the unit vertically feeding the bullet entering at around a 30-40 degree angle. Instructions suggested lubricating. Did not improve the feed.

Load this way

I was having the same problems, kept the tray in the loader, load your rounds in the ammo box. Next slide the mag charger lid back to reveal the tray, then load your rounds in, slide the mag charger lid back and insert your mag, release plunger and as you insert each row the ammo carrier tray will advance.

Great buy !

Works great with metal and non metal mags, Would be better if it held 60 so you could fill 2 mags b-4 reloading. Would have given it 5 stars if not plastic or a little more beefy. Time will tell ,happy so far.

Stay away. Buyer beware!!

I bought this to load my 5 mags for both my pistol and rifle MP15-22. The loader is bad and can not get it to work as I thought it should. No directions no real videos of instructions. The front mag stop, stops the mag from going in all the way and seating at the top. This makes the mag catch not engage the mag. I have finally gotten around to trying it after getting these weapons, and it's a dud. I will think twice about buying these products for my shooting sports. Product lot, 02/2219

Saves the thumbs

I work at a local range we use one to preload mags for rentals. Have had it for a couple years still works as well as day 1 so plastic is dependable over thousands if not tens of thousands of rounds. It can be tricky to figure out when first starting to use it but when you figure out the in’s and outs or a system that works for you, it’s pretty repetitive and easy. Sure you have to dump a box in, or load them in one at a time to fill up the tray, still beats pushing them down one at a time into your mag.

Great idea, poor execution.

I bought this and after spending over an hour trying to get this to work it is going back. I could have manually loaded my M&P mag by hand several times. Followed the instructions but the ammo will not slide into the magazine. Missed opportunity Caldwell.

Simply AWESOME

By jwdonal

This thing works flawlessly! Absolutely unreal how fast I can load my mags now! I would give this thing 6 stars if I could. I thought it was a bit overpriced...until I actually used it. Wow. One of the best firearm accessories I have ever purchased! Also, looking at it in the original packaging it looks like it will be cheap and flimsy and light weight, but rest assured this thing is heavy duty and has a very nice heft to it - does not feel cheap AT ALL. Highly recommend!!!

Simply put, the Caldwell AR Mag Charger revolutionizes the way ammo is handled and loaded into AR-15 magazines. It is designed to accept 50 loaded rounds directly from any common 50 round ammo manufacturer box or from aftermarket 50 round plastic storage boxes. Simply align bullet tips and dump a box of ammo into the Mag Charger. The ammo is automatically aligned without touching a single round. Once filled with ammo, insert any AR magazine into the Mag Charger just as you would into a rifle. Then actuate the plunger back and forth loading 5 rounds per stroke as the spring loaded ammo carrier automatically advances aligning the next five rounds until magazine is fully loaded.

The entire process of filling the Mag Charger with ammo and loading all 50 rounds into two magazines takes less than 15 seconds! An Ammo Transfer Tray is included to invert ammo that is positioned in boxes with the bullet tips oriented down or to stage bulk ammo for dumping into Mag Charger. Highly durable Polycarbonate construction, compatible with .223, 5.56 and .204 ammo.
